Gift of N'Zoth Remains in Patch 8.3

The Gift of N'Zoth visual effect is not removed in Patch 8.3; Blizzard has confirmed the only way to remove it is through a quest.
Players have been reporting the eye visuals are removed upon logging into Patch 8.3, but this would appear to be a bug, not intentional. The only way to remove the Gift is through

To be clear – it’s not gone. The only way to remove it is to complete the quest that cleanses you of its wicked curse.
Which is something I’ll never do.
Based on datamined broadcast text, players who wear the Gift may hear additional whispers in Visions of N'Zoth.
