Gearing Guide for the 6.0.2 Prepatch: Gearing up Quickly, Changed Gems, Enchants, and More

With currency changes coming in the prepatch and an item level requirement for the special version of UBRS, we thought we’d put together a guide on some easy new ways to get gear. Since many gear details are changing as well, we’ve put in a refresher course on item changes relevant to the prepatch as well--including changed gem stats and removed combat perks.

Justice and Valor Point Gear
As Valor Point and Justice Point items now cost a few hundred gold, this means you have many epic items available for purchase.
Epic ilvl 489 gear formerly cost Justice Points. If you have an ancient 90 that doesn’t have boosted gear, these are sold choices for all slots except weapons. Sold by

Epic ilvl 522

gear formerly cost Valor points. While most of this gear requires Friendly, each boss gives 300 reputation and trash gives reputation too from Neutral to Friendly. Plus, you can buy the ilvl 522 neck at Neutral. All slots are covered except weapons, with Shoulders requiring Exalted and probably not that practical for gearing up quickly. Sold by

PvP Gear
Season 15 Prideful gear

Several shortcut ways of getting
have been removed in the prepatch--killing Krasarang rares, converting Justice to

To get
in 6.0.2, you can run battlegrounds (bonus
from holiday ones), as well as skirmishes. You can also run Tol Barad, for 450
per win and the additional 300
from
Vittoria a Tol Barad
once per week. Wintergrasp is currently bugged, but when repaired, will be a great source for easy honor too.
Blasted Lands Quests
Completing the
Level 90 Blasted Lands Quests
rewards several pieces of gear.

The special level 90 version of UBRS drops ilvl 550 rings, gloves, chests, and select weapons (
click here for loot tables
). You can queue multiple times per day.
Garrosh Heirlooms
If you do not have an heirloom yet from Garrosh, you have a 100% chance with the
Mena e Depreda
buff to have an heirloom drop. This is ilvl 556 on Normal, ilvl 569 on Heroic, and ilvl 582 on Mythic. When Warlords of Draenor hits, these heirlooms will scale as you level, capping out at ilvl 620 at level 100.

Do keep in mind that you cannot queue wing by wing for
Assedio di Orgrimmar
now--you either need a partially-cleared old lockout or you’re stick clearing the entirety of
Assedio di Orgrimmar
to reach Garrosh.
Also make sure you have the correct loot specialization selected so you get the heirloom you want.
You can see what the heirloom scales to at a specific level by visiting a page like

and then moving the slider underneath the item tooltip between 90 and 100. The stats will update and you can see how Normal, Heroic, and Mythic heirlooms all scale at different rates to hit 620 at 100.

Gear Changes
If you haven’t logged in for a while, you may have noticed that your stats look a bit different! What follows below is a condensed version of our
guide to gear changes in Warlords
.
General Changes
Reforging is permanently going away and currently reforged gear will revert to its pre-reforged state.
Items are receiving a stat squish in the prepatch. You will not feel weaker, your stats will just be scaled down for visual purposes. You will still be able to solo old instances.
Removed Stats
Hit and Expertise are removed and have been converted into Critical Strike, Haste, or Mastery on existing gear. In addition, all players now have a 100% chance to hit and 0% chance to glance when fighting creatures up to 3 levels higher.
Dodge and Parry are removed and have been converted into Critical Strike, Haste, or mastery on armor pieces, or Bonus Armor on non-armor pieces. In addition, all players now have 0% chance to be dodged and 3% chance to be parried. Tanks receive an additional 3% reduction in chance to be parried. You can still get dodge and parry via abilities or gems.
Modified Stats
Spirit is only found on non-armor pieces--necks, rings, cloak, trinkets. Spirit is removed from armor pieces, such as chests.
Bonus Armor
is only found on tank-appropriate Non-Armor pieces (necks, rings, cloak, trinkets, shields). This increases the tank's armor.
New Stats
There are several new stats in Warlords of Draenor, which cannot readily be found in the prepatch on gear. However, some classes have the new Multistrike stat as their “attunement” spell, such as
, and that stat is not plentiful on Siege of Orgrimmar gear besides several trinkets.

Due to hit and expertise changes, many gems offer different stat combinations, some of which are new to the game. Here is a list of the changed gems.

Enchants
Enchants are a bit in flux at level 90. While you cannot put any current enchant on gear above ilvl 600 in Warlords of Draenor, you can still enchant your Siege of Orgrimmar gear. Tailors will also have to enchant their capes as their Embroideries are going away.
Enchants with expertise have been converted to haste, and hit to crit. This means that you may have several enchants that do identical things for different costs.
Due to the stat squish and resulting spell scaling, some enchants from older expansions are just as powerful, or in some cases, more powerful than Pandaria enchants. Edit: this is unintended and will be fixed soon:
This primarily affects Cloak and Glove enchants, where there are legacy enchants with Agility, Attack Power, Intellect, and Spellpower. For example,

Consumables
Due to the stat squished and removed stats, some consumables now offer the same stats, or older versions are slightly better than the newer versions. We're primarily pointing out these differences for you to spot good deals on the AH or turn old mats into useful consumables--there shouldn't be any pressure to farm Cataclysm mats for a tiny stat gain.

Profession Combat Perks Removed
Profession combat perks are removed in the Warlords of Draenor prepatch. Old items with profession augmentations have these removed when the prepatch hits--for example, my ring enchants on live gear are removed on characters I copied to the PTR and beta.
The Mixology perk is removed.
Blacksmiths cannot add gem sockets to their gloves or bracers.
Enchanters cannot enchant their rings.
Engineering glove enchants are being removed. Helms are remaining.
Herbalists no longer have Lifeblood (on use heal and haste).
Scribe shoulder enchants should be equivalent to BoE epic shoulder enchants--currently this is bugged and slightly better.
Special Jewelcrafting-only gems now give the same stat boost as regular crafted gems.
Leatherworkers cannot enchant their wrists.
Miners do not get a Stamina increase.
Skinners do not get a critical strike increase.
Tailors cannot enchant their capes for a stat proc.
Profiler
You can also see how your character is affected by the stat changes and item squish with the
Warlords Profiler
