Wowhead says "without any restrictions" on trading, it's unclear to me right now if that means it also allows cross-server trading, I presume not.

That said, even cross-faction but same-server this would be great if it goes live like this. I play both factions and being able to move things back and forth via mail (I craft some stuff on one faction, some on the others, so gold piles up lop-sided, it's a pain) would be huge.

This also would open up payment for carries/boosts, though they are harder to come by now. For people like myself (Horde-Proudmoore) whose gold would be more "useful" on Alliance this could represent an easy way to do that with no AH cuts or risk.

What do y'all think?Cross faction trading(in instanced content) AND cross faction mail is enabled on the PTR. You can trade and mail all items and gold between factions on the same connected realm.

There is currently no cross server trading on PTR. When they first teased this cross faction trading they mentioned how it's annoying you can't trade boe drops and consumables in cross realm groups. So they may be working on something there as well but this far nothing on the PTR.I’m okay with not doing cross realm trading outside of certain times such as raid or loot drops that dropped together.

However it’d be really nice to not have any faction barrier anymore. It doesn’t make sense to me to split the player population by faction. The impact on the economy is already minimal due to the shared AH.

The vestige costs 4800g and is Bind on Pickup.This can only be used on a Rank 1 pattern to create a Rank 5 (ilvl 249) and is sold by Vilo the Enlightened Quartermaster in Haven, Zereth Mortis.

Some Quick Analysis...

This puts the nail in the coffin of ranks 4 & 5 as we know it.
Crafting these to sell is a BAIT. Do not fall for the trap. This is designed for regular players to craft their own rank 5 legendary with little to no interaction with the Auction House or other players.
Quick napkin math would suggest Rank 5s will be 5k each by the weekend, probably less as people will not read bullet point 2 and will craft these on mass to level the profession. Rank 6s will then only be a small fraction cheaper than a rank 7 and most will ignore it.
Progenitor Essentia and in turn "Vestige of the Eternals" will now only be used for rank 7s. This is before the price even got good enough to beat the costs of "Vestige of Origins" for recrafting lower ranks. This will likly result in a continued downward price of Pog Essence.

What are peoples thoughts?I think it's a great quality of life change for the average player. It will let people try out different leggos fairly easily.

I think they will be pointless to craft on most servers if looking for profit.

I think some people will mistakenly think they can spam them out and level up recipes and compete in the r7 market.

Hello everyone, I’d like to share my gold-making journey in the hopes that it might encourage others to persist in this fun and exciting gameplay aspect of World of Warcraft. At the same time, I’d like to raise for discussions some aspects that I feel are detrimental to the health of the “economy” part of the game.

A little background about me: I’ve never played WoW before Shadowlands. Inspired by the awesome cinematics (but more importantly, by the level squish to 60), I decided to jump in. I knew absolutely nothing about how professions worked, cancel scanning, reset days, old-world mats, TSM strings, anything really.

Through lurking on this very subreddit, as well as by watching very informative YouTube videos (thank you Manthieus, The Lazy Goldmaker, Penguinr2gt, and others), I was able to learn quite quickly, though I obviously made many costly mistakes and missed plenty of opportunities.

I’ve played for 2 months during the 9.0 patch on a medium pop realm, skipped 9.1, and returned at the beginning of 9.2 on a high pop realm. I play on EU.

Here are some things I DIDN’T do:

I could not take part in the 9.0 legendary early market bonanza, since I didn’t have millions to invest in mats to level up my Legendary crafting to Rank 4 at the same time as “old-money goblins”. I also was very lazy with getting the reputation required to craft Rank 7. I never stocked up on cheap materials (such as Progenitor Essentia). I never flipped BoEs or sold battle pets.

So what DID I do:

I, uhm, crafted stuff - focusing on one profession at a time, learning the price trends. Buy cheap mats on Saturday, sell Enchants on Wednesday. Buy cheap fish, make Feasts. Really basic stuff, but I made around 200k in my first two weeks of crafting. And it was a lot of fun, as I felt I was engaging in an active economy, while also providing useful things to the players: enchants, consumables, etc.

Then I had enough gold to get into the legendary market (late, but still), and honestly at that point the fun diminished just as the profits exploded – I don’t feel like selling legendries for 300% crafting cost is providing a useful service to the other people on my server.

And here are my main concerns:

Assuming limited time-to-play, the opportunity cost for crafting ANYTHING except legendaries in Shadowlands is absurd – why bother making potions, feasts, enchants, sharpening stones, bags, etc, when in that same time you could make your legendary crafting more efficient – one sold legendary is worth hundreds of other items!

Secondly, the game rewards (handsomely) predatory market behavior – A person with a moderate amount of gold can easily reset the price on a few key consumables. They can buy massive amounts of cheap materials, and undercut casual crafters. For Base Legendaries on low-medium pop realms, if the 5-6 people actually crafting them agree to fix the prices, they can essentially conspire to keep prices high.

Thirdly, the game does not reward “multiplayer” economic cooperation in any meaningful way – it’s ALWAYS more efficient and profitable to have all your crafting done by yourself, on your alts – preferably even have all your alts in your own guild for easy guild bank access. This also scales in a toxic manner – if you make enough gold to afford multiple accounts, you could be crafting on multiple accounts at the same time (and gold can buy you 0 to 60 leveling boosts to make that feasible).

In conclusion, the math and systems work in such a way as to encourage vertical integration, predatory market practices, collusion and cartelization, in the detriment of the end consumer’s experience. So yeah, kinda like the IRL free market :)

PS: Stop watching "get 300k easy with this farm" videos. Most of them are a waste of your time.
