I got mine today also from the trash mobs before council.

So unsure as to if it drops off the bosses as well, or if its just a low drop rate from the trash.

I just had one drop from elder council in LFR it was not up for free roll it just poped up as part of my loot.

got this one in ToT (LFR), 3rd Boss.I'm not a companion guy and i guess i will put it in cage and sell it at Auction House. Cheers!

Like others here, I got mine from Council of Elders in LFR. I received it separately from the lootbag you get when you don't get a piece of gear, it popped up just like the bag does when we downed the boss.

I did get this Battle Pet off the Council Of Elders boss encounter But I also received a piece of gear it does not matter whether or not you got a piece of gear or not the drop chance is still the same.

This pet seems to have different drop locations, depending on raid difficulty.

In normal and heroic, it drops from the Sand Elementals which is the trash leading up to Council of Elders. The drop chance seems to be about 3 - 5%.

In the LFR it drops directly from Council of Elders. It will be personal loot, meaning that it will go straight to your inventory if it drops. It is also treated as extra loot, so you can get a piece of gear (or a failbag) and this pet at the same time.

If you win one in LFR and have full bags, the pet is most likely to be lost! GMs might not be able to restore it either! So make sure to have room for it before you kill Animus.

The LFR drop chance is currently unknown, but I will update this post when the information is available.

The Living Sandling is BoP, but you can trade it to anyone by learning it and then caging it.

Hey guys so this awesome pet was added in 5.2 and as many people have said you can acquire this pet from the Council of Elders LFR and still receive Tesori del Re del Tuono

Anyway as you would know the Drop Chance % is considerably low at only 4% so here is what to do if you are 'normal' like the rest of us and aren't insanely lucky. :)

Check your AH on your server

Low Server, : 15,000 Gold (Average)

Medium Server, : 10,000 Gold (Average)

High Server, : 2,500 Gold (Average)

Full Server, : 1,500 Gold (Average)

So guys just check on all your realms for the cheapest priced one if you want to buy one.

This pet makes a low, constant white noise that sounds like a desert wind blowing over dunes. It's not loud enough to be annoying, you probably won't notice it unless you're standing out of combat in a quiet area.

Not 100% accurate. I hope everyone out there is using their Wowhead Client to report drop data. Many have reported looting this off the Sand Elemental trash mobs on the way to the council fight wrapping up the first wing of Throne of Thunder LFR and all other forms of that council fight (10 man, heroic, etc.).

Not sure if the lack of quality data is to blame for the confusion of how to get this pet, or else if the item is bugging in some other way. However I wanted to mention it because I obtained the pet inside the loot bag after killing the council, NOT in addition to a bag. It was in there with the coins.

In my opinion this is the best of the two pets (Ji-Kun hatchling) because it has a more unique look, whereas the hatchling looks a lot like the other hatchlings from Azeroth.

Base price for this is 20,000 gold from the BMAH. If you truely want it, it's better to look in the normal AH.
