As a warrior, I could obviously only attack and kill Vek'nilash, and I can confirm the pet does drop on the shared loot table. This pet dropped for me on the first kill, so I'm not sure of drop rate. It can be received by melee classes, and it seems it does not matter which Twin you loot.

I acquired this pet yesterday specifically off of the Twin Emperors fight in AQ40. As stated in the patch notes, lots of old fights have been slightly changed to make it easier to solo, and this fight was no exception. Even as a fury warrior it was doable, because they seemed to heal a lot less than they used to. I also solo'd it yesterday as a shadow priest, so which dps class you are shouldn't matter so long as you can out-DPS the heals.

This pet was introduced in patch 5.1 as part of 12 new Vanilla Raid drops. There are three from each raid: Nucleo Ardente, Fortezza dell'Ala Nera, Ahn'qiraj, Naxxramas. Though technically a Wrath of the Lich King raid, Naxxramas was first released into the game during the final months before The Burning Crusade.

Drop rate is not 100%. Collecting all these pets will complete Incursore animalista which gives a final pet, Signor Bigolo

According to Cory Stockton (Lead Content Designer for World of Warcraft), additional pets for TBC and Wrath raids will become available in the future. (source)

This pet, I'm just going to say, is very good.

Every time he attacks, he heals for 4% of his maximum HP. His Reflection ability can destroy OP abilities, or save yourself from being killed. Pop it at the correct time and the enemy has no chance to survive. (AKA Pop when Cataclysm or Apocalypse is about to go off, and it turns it on them.)

Hes very good, and I'd suggest getting him for a nice carry pet.

Soloed Twin Emperors as an Affli Warlock with Voidlord.

Talents: Dark Regeneration, Mortal Coil, Dark Bargain, Unbound Will, Grimoire of Supremacy, Archimonde's Vengeance
Glyphs: Demon Training, Soul Shards, Siphon Life

OMG, I hate those Bosses...
You should tank Vek'lor, which is immune to physical dmg and your Voidlord should tank Vek'nilash, which is immune to magical dmg. Easier said than done. Every 30-40sec, the 2 Twins will switch places. There is a complete aggro wipe and the Emperors will attack the closest person to them, who will receive a big amount of threat. Vek'lor uses Arcane Burst, which will knock back your Voidlord after switch and slows its movement speed by 70%. Whenever the Twins get within 60 yards of one another, they will spam heal each other - nuke Emperor Vek'lor and watch how slowly dies. Remember that before you pull the Bosses it is necessary to clear the trash in the room before their room! Good Luck and Have Fun!

With patch 5.1 Twin Emperors became easier to solo - recast time for Heal Brother has been increased to 3sec (was 2). In addition, they can now drop Idolo Anubisath.

Many people when they see this pet will see Reflection and think that's the best part about him. When in reality he is perfectly designed to counter multi attack pets such as Flayer Hatchling and Fel Flame. Stoneskin and Sandstorm stack to provide 148 damage reduction which reduces the Flayer Hatching attack (average of 150) to 2 and reduces the Fel Flame attack to 400 (two attacks at 350 each.)

For people struggling to kill him use big attacks or change the weather. Cats are great at this.

Edited: It seems a hotfix just came in, might have fixed the issue (though I haven't tried it myself)

Something to clarify on being eligible for loots.
It would seem that when the twins switch places, the aggro wipe also clears your tag on them.
So if you are a melee class and is relying on a 1 time magical damage to tag the other twin (or vice versa), save it until after the last swap before you kill them.

As for myself, after 3 weeks of running it with 4 melee chars, and half of the kills only being able to loot one of the twin (the melee one that doesn't seem to drop the pet) even though I made absolutely sure I damaged them both (the other twin's corpse is just there, not vanishing but not lootable at the same time), I'm gonna just pay the ridiculous price on the AH and forget about the whole thing.

Make sure you loot both of the twins or there is a chance you may not attain the pet since they both have separate loot on each body. My girl and I made the mistake of not looting both corpses over the past few weeks so I'm sure we probably lost out on looting the idol until today.

If you are a frost dk dont even bother trying to solo this. Vek'lor will constantly knock you back so he is not a valid dps target for melee and Vek'nilash is immune to frost dmg, you cant apply disease on him, frost strike wont generate blood tap stacks etc. Just spec blood and you will be able to outdmg their healing and kill them in about 5 min.

Although the drop percentage on Wowhead is 0.9%, the droprate on Worldofwarcraft.com says the droprate is "high".

Fellow Rogues: In order to be able to loot Vek'lor, you have to damage him. The best way to do this, guaranteed, is by using Lame d'Ombra on him, instead of Vek'nilash (since it won't do damage to Vek'nilash anyway). Then just kick the ever-living crap out of Vek'nilash with melee and you win.

For hunters I recommend BM spec with a spirit pet or ferocity pet for the mastery buff to pet damage. Keep Widow's Venom up on both bosses and this is a very quick, easy fight. The pet dropped on the first kill.

While the Restless Shadeling is the "Blood DK" of Battle Pets and survives through life leeching, the Anubisath Idol is the "Prot Warrior" of Battle Pets, and survives through sheer damage mitigation. I just soloed the entire Legendary team of "Aki the Chosen" with a single Lvl 25 Anubisath Idol, and he finished the fight with 900+ health left, more than half. This thing is a sheer beast for damage mitigation in Pet Battles.

The proc of Elemental Force does count towards tagging Vek'lor (the caster). So, if you have a any brawler class unable to do magical damage naturally (warriors, paladins, etc - no, NONE of the paladin holy damage abilities worked for me). This enchantment really is the way to go.

Be sure to hit Vek'lor with your enchanted weapon and watch the combat log to verify when the proc occurs, after that you can safely slay Vek'nilash without having to worry about the loot.

In lvl 1-6 (maybe more) he heal more then the enemys deal in dmg just cause he's a humanoid but he whould be bedder as elemental if you ask me. but this guy is soooo OP =D bought him for 10g...

Everyone. REMEMBER, REMEMBER, REMEMBER to loot both boss.
I have been doing it on my mage and druid and only today that i realize i haven't been looting Vok'lor (which is the one that drop this i believe) on my druid only on my mage, which explained the reason why 5 weeks in and i still haven't gotten it.
Even if you have aoe loot on like me sometimes a boss's body would still be out of range for aoe loot to function, so yeah, check both bodies!

I haven't seen this mentioned, but I solo these raids on my warlock, for the enchants. As a warlock, I carry a dagger enchanted with elemental force. Since one of the bosses takes spell dmg, and they other takes melee, you can also use a void walker or fel hunter on the melee boss and if it comes to it, physically hit him with the dagger. All you really need to do is damage him, eventually they both die regardless.

I never have been one to do much pet battling, but I did start and finally got one of the 2 that I currently own, to level 25. This bad boy will mess up other wild pets even those that are a level or 3 higher. I have also noticed that winning a pet battle gives xp roughly = to a dungeon boss kill, which makes this a pretty easy way to level. Since these seem to be nearly unkillable by any wild battle pet of equal level, it makes a nice 'finisher' to win the match. (not sure about pvp pet battles, I haven't tried those yet)

Additionally, I have found it easier to level other battle pets with this as the last pet in rotation. Just hit with the ones you are leveling until they get a bit low on health, switch to the next, repeat, and finish the battle with this guy.

Excellent pet for pet battles. Useful if you're impatient and want some high-level pets fast. Had this guy at level 11 and he solo'd a group of 23s in Pandaria, catching one and defeating the other two. He's better at a low level than some green level 20+ pets. The humanoid health restore is a lifesaver, the shield is perfect for dig/dive/fly abilities, and sandstorm is great for survivability when trying to capture a wild pet. More than worth the time I invested in getting him.

To anyone interested in doing Battle Pets, I cannot recommend picking up an Anubisath Idol strongly enough. He's extremely useful while leveling (if you choose not to cheese to aquire your first level 25 pet) and at endgame he is featured in more than half of strategies on this site. Hell, BroBeforeFoes has shown that Anubisath Idol and another pet (emereld proto-whelping) can be used to 2-pet (with a carry pet for leveling) every non-spirit trainer in pandaria, making for extremely easy leveling early in your battle pet career.

This guy is Battle Pet Jesus. GET ONE.

I am not positive about this but he Idol seems to have been nerfed as of the most recent patch (Draenor 6.1). His sandstorm does not totally block such stampede attacks that formerly would result in 0 damage. For example the chicken-thingy pet of Courageous Yon blasts through sandstorm with 90 plus damage for each run. Can anyone verify?

The Anusubath Idol seems to have lost his sandstorm's defensive capability. I use the idol for nearly half the Pandaria trainer/elemental spirit battles for leveling purposes and he is no longer viable for many of the fights he formerly would solo or nearly so. I get Blizz wanting to level playing fields for their (already too powerful) NPC Pets but they could at least include such info in the patch notes. The other bug, whether intentional or not involves the Call Darkness and Nocturnal Strike combo that make the Gilnean Raven and a few other pets so formidable (Dread Hatchling, et. al.). Despite what the tool tip says, blindness does not seem to guarantee 100% hit chance for Nocturnal Strike. Again, if Blizz wants to tinker with these things, they could at least post a warning. A lot of us invest untold hours leveling pets and it almost seems like their programmers are screwing with their best customers, either out of some perverted sense of humor or as part o some sick "business plan" to increase revenue inversely proportionate to their customers' outrage!

This is one of most versalite Battlepets you can obtain.Sandstorm and Deflection help greatly agains enemies whose primary attack does not hit too hard, coupled with Humanoid passive that gives him great staying power.
