Buff lasts for 2 minutes and it removes your clothes (effect is only visual, your gear is still equipped). Upon moving, shell is gone and your armor is back on.

When I used this item, my character did a brief animation of her covering herself, but it only lasted a second. I assume that you are supposed to keep that pose for the duration but currently does not. Also, it did not remove weapons.

Fortunately, emotes like /dance don't break the effect. (Even though, technically, your character is moving.)

Change as of this patch, the "bashful" character animation you do when using this continues repeating until the buff ends or is removed.

You can cast from inside the shell, haven't tested if being hit removes it yet; but it seems as long as you don't move you get the full 2min duration.

You can't obtain this item on twinks or low level characters, because the item is rewarded from a quest, rather than dropping from Gokk'lok himself.

This thing is absolutely hilarious when your character is a male tauren LOL.

I didn't know what the item did so I just use it and got completely shocked to see the effect. ~15 minutes fight... Totally worth it... FTW

I saw someone use this in LFR and just had to find out where it was from. This thing is amazing! Not many people know about it. The fight was ridiculously easy as ranged dps - you can stay near the surface and nuke away without bothering with adds

Gokklok's Shell is a fun item that spawns an open clamshell that you dance on. In order to get it, you have to kill Gokk'lok, a very large clam in the northwest seas of Dread Wastes. His coords are 27,16. After you kill him you automatically receive a quest called Promises of Gold. When you turn in the quest you receive the shell.

Killing Gokk'lok isn't very difficult, it just takes a long time because of his massive 16.3 million health pool. He doesn't do any actual attacks, he just sits there. The only trouble is that he spawns adds every so often. They seem to come at every 10% interval of his health.

Here are the mobs in order:

4 Spindlegrin Hatchlings
1 Spindlegrin Remora
1 Elder Spindlegrin (elite)
5 Brinyfin Darters
2 Brinyfin Trumpeters
1 Brinyfin Partriarch (elite)
6 Seacarp
3 Overgrown Seacarp
1 Colossal Seacarp (elite)

The trumpeters are probably the worst of the bunch. Once you kill Gokk'lok he will eject the pearl and it's then dragged to shore by a bunch of Rikkitun Chanters. They start running up the hill with it and you meet them at Chief Rikkitun (38,17) to turn in the quest.

As a level 90 shadow priest with questing gear (ilvl 434) killing Gokk'lok took me 24 minutes. You don't have to worry about drowning because being in the vicinity of Gokk'lok grants you underwater breathing from the automatic Enchanted Essence buff. I stood as close as possible to him to avoid aggroing mobs swimming by. I would recommend getting buffs from the Klaxxi to help you (here's an explanation of those). I used the Angel of Death Klaxxi Enhancement from Kil'ruk the Wind-Reaver and the Painkiller Klaxxi Augmentation from Korven the Prime. Some of the enhancements/augmentations may not be available to you, depending on how much of the Klaxxi questline you have completed.

A note to Mac users: If you die, when you get back to your corpse you won't be able reach it without diving. Remember to hold down the command button, click, and pull back with two fingers to drop into the water.

One interesting side note. When using this with the female Pandaren, Their Loincloth vanishes & looks like undies.

Mage players using Conchiglia di Gokk'lok in conjunction with Cuore di Ghiaccio can achieve a fun "ice-skating" effect by keeping the buff active. Cuore di Ghiaccio is designed to make mages able to cast spells while moving, but it also makes you able to move without the effect of Conchiglia di Gokk'lok wearing off!
