I made this for the first time today to find out what it does and it puts a red blindfold on your character for five minutes and adds a sort of foggy effect to the edges of the screen similar to the golden lotus daily where you release spirits.

pretty cool imo but totally not worth the mats, you could justify it if it was an infinitely reusable item but for a consumable item that gives you a 5 minute cosmetic buff, 11 tokens worth of cooking mats is just silly.

Given that this is learned from a hard-to-find world object, and that the description references "heightened senses", it seems likely to me that there is something in the game world this allows a player to see (or track? or hear?) that they can't normally. It'd be a good way for the devs to hide something that the player base won't immediately data-mine.

All of the ingredients can be bought on AH for gold (including sauce, rice, and pepper) as they are all BOE. So you can use any number of tokens you want or none at all.

This is just a troll recipe that makes you curious as to what it does.

Upon realizing, you will slap yourself for wasting time, money, and/or mats.

If it were multi-use, had more than 5 minutes, or didn't cost so much to make, it'd be pretty sweet.

Edit: Now that I think about it....all we need now are some Crimson Warglaives.

These mats are incredibly expensive for a seemingly useless 5-minute buff, so people are a bit disappointed. I am inclined to think, however, that there may be an as yet undiscovered purpose for this. Perhaps there is something hidden in the game that can only be located via the use of this brew.

Ideas anyone?

Currently the cost of mats is disproportionate to any gain you'd make - so I'm hoping Blizzard have something coming that would make this rare find actually cool instead of pretty pointless.

Those who wish to learn the recipe for this neat brew, listen up!

The recipe comes from an item that counts as one of the lost treasures of Pandaria, and does count for the achievements. This item is called Tavoletta di Ren Yun. The item is found at the top of Mount Neverest (Neverest Pinnacle) in Kun'Lai Summit. The recipe requires to have your Way of the Brew to 600 skill and the materials are a little much just for something that makes you character look cool. If you have anything to add to this, leave a reply.

Just thinking about this combination in beverage form makes me want to both gag and vomit at the same time.

This takes roughly 3 days of farming to acquire the materials... So it's true, it doesn't cost 500g, or 3 tokens... However, I will agree with all that this should be a permanent use item with a long cooldown. In addition, I'm in agreement with the idea that game developers could have used this item as a way to conceal hidden content (i.e. a crack in a wall you couldn't see before) Bottom Line: Interesting item.

Sadly, this item does nothing other than give the brief cosmetic and screen effect. Having discovered the recipe, I wanted to test it in a variety of settings. I tried:

Drinking multiples to check if it affected your other senses (it doesn't stack, it just refreshes the duration);
Used it at the three Brewfather Shrines, at the Lorewalkers HQ, in front of the Celestials, but it had no discernible effect;
I even tried it on Durumu to check whether it would reveal the adds in the mist (NB: Elisir Individua Invisibilità Inferiore used to work, prior to a hotfix), but again, it had no effect;
In case there was something involving the other Way of the Brew items, I tried drinking them all before trying this one, as well as after. Since the visual effect over-writes your current screen effect, it actually removed the hazy visual from being excessively drunk, which is probably an unintended consequence of the graphic, rather than an intentional change to gameplay (see also Cioccolata Calda for sobering up);
I even tried it in front of the Black Prince, in case it revealed something he'd rather keep hidden, but either it had no effect, or his magic is more powerful than this brew.

Eventually I opened a ticket, and the response confirmed that at present, this item has no gameplay effects, and no hidden uses:

So... here is the answer as why do we need this expensive and "doing nothing unusual" recipe (well, except for the obvious achievs involved):
when you are 600 skill at cooking then the only recipes which have yellow high chance to skill up is this one, and the other rare Banana Infused Rum recipe.

Which means - if you are gonna run for the Realm First achievement on cooking for the next expansion, you might then gather the mats till then so you can make few of these at start without needing to gather mats for the new expansion receips, as every second counts on the race to Realm First.

Also its mats will probably cost less before the next expansion, so it might be of good use after all.

some other new cooking recipes might come at next Patch and be yellow or higher as well, but it might also be costier in mats than this recipe.
