Dropped by Omnis Grinlok (a rare elite in Dread Wastes.).
When wearing this trinket you give out tiny little sparkles, as if you yourself are lootable.
As you can see from the tooltip, killing experience granting mobs can drop extra gold, but there's a little more to it.

When you kill a mob there's a small chance that it will explode in gold, just like the treasure goblins in diablo and with the same sound. After a few seconds the coins will settle and create a small pile of Monete d'Oro which you can loot.
The pile of gold contains around 22 gold (between 10 and 30), but the problem is that anyone at all can loot it, even people not in your party. So when you see the dead mob start throwing out gold be ready to loot.
The amount dropped is completly irrespective of the level of the mob (provided it's still in your level range) or the amount of loot that it would normally drop. Even mobs that drop no loot at all can drop a pile of gold.
The relevant spells in the database suggest that the proc rate is 10%, but from testing it seems the rate is much closer to ~3%
Unlike Richiamo di Wikky l'Aiutante it is definatly a % chance, and not based on a set number of kills.

Subjected myself to pvp... for science, and this does still proc from pvp kills.

Can the gold drop twice of the same mob? All mobs can drop it or just those with loot tagged to you?

well its very handy when u do dailies and dont need ur imba trinks or farming cloths and the gold that gives the trinket is not into mob u loot its aside of that like a pile of golds :D cheers to one that have it GL to those who dont !

Just got this today, the proc doesnt seem to be the best but when it happens its very noticable. It makes alot of "CA-CHING'S" noises.

Definitely not a 10% proc rate as suggested by clicking the item effect up top.

You will make more cash from having a higher DPS trinket equipped for faster kills than this one.

Unless you want the cosmetic effect, skip it.

I had it drop on me at 90 (in fact the rare I killed to get this pushed me over 90). I wore it about 2 hours before it even procced. I didn't realize how it worked (little piles of gold like it said earlier) so it's VERY noticable when it does proc, but it's not very often and not much gold either.

I don't think it's worth losing a trinket slot over.

I'still testing this out, and by what I see, this item is very odd indeed. I'd venture to say that the proc is completely random, without an ICD. Doing dailies, I got two mobs in one pack to drop the gold, and it does work in PvP as I joined a PvP soon afterwards and got one. That said, when farming Hozen in Jade forest, I didn't get a single proc. I'll do some more testing when I can, but I suspect that mobs near your level have a higher drop frequency.

As a few people have mentioned there seems to be some sort of cool down. I have tested it out questing and farming for several hours. I never received more than 2 piles of gold every 10 minutes. The only time I ever use this thing is when I am farming cataclysm lvl mobs with a potion of treasure finding. I consider it an added bonus. The max you will make with this trinket is around 250-300g per hour. Don't except to get rich over night but every little bit helps when farming. It is worth it in my book.

I use this while AOE farming turtles; also have potion of luck.

Gold, gold gold! om nom nom; since the turtles dont drop gold (directly) this is a god send for my farming.

Apparently you don't have to have it equipped in order to have the pile of gold drop. I just have this vanity item in my bag and found piles while I was in battleground and doing dailies.

Not sure why last post was downvoted but...

Cooldown hypothesis has been tested:
I killed 489 dread scarabs in 25 minutes.
First gold pile: 2 minutes.
Second pile: 7 minutes.
Third pile: 12 minutes.
Fourth pile: 18 minutes
Fifth pile: 23 minutes.
This gives me a great reason to believe that there is a 5 minute cooldown.

p.s. gold piles drop 10% of the gold in dungeons decreasing it's usefulness in them greatly.

If this procs while you are swimming, the gold pile will spawn on the sea floor, not by where you are swimming

I've killed Omnis Grinlok seven times now. The Golden Fleece has yet to drop for me. The past two times I've killed him, he's spawned again right at an hour. Not sure if the spawn rate is standard, but it's been nice to know exactly when he was killed at least.

I'm waiting in his territory for him to pop at the moment, wish me luck!

I had this equipped in the second (bottom) trinket slot for hours and it never activated. Moved it to the first (top) trinket spot and now it's working. Coincidence? Maybe.

The Monete d'Oro dropped from this trinket count for Ossessione per i soldi.

They work like any other container with coins, which describe the looted amount through a chat announcement.

Speaking of which, seems you can always trust that whatever coins you see announced with "You loot" (not "Received" from quests) are counting towards your achievement (most often seen in drops from humanoid mobs, including trash and bosses in instances).

This Trinket is a MUST-HAVE for any person doing dailies or farming mobs =)

It dropped for me today and decided to check it out, the posts on wowhead are accurate: it seems there is an internal 5min cooldown on the trinket but the money is still great!

Its an easy 10-30g every ~5min! this is just extra gold in addition to drops and quest rewards =)

Take the time to get this trinket because its really worth it for easy gold farm, and you will thank me later =D

Have made an addon to keep track of the cool down on this. Oddly enough, it's called "Golden Fleece" and is on curse.

Unlike most other trinkets, this seems to have a longer than 30 second cool down when equipping when previously not equipped.

My addon assumed it was the usual 30 second cool down but I was noticing if newly equipped it would never seem to proc until 5 minutes was up.

I have been testing this hypothesis today and so far from 3 tests it has never worked once under the 5 minutes and then... once the 5 minutes is up it usually only takes a few kills for the shower of gold.

The addon shows when it's cooled down, how long to cool down and how long since it's cooled down. Also keeps statistics on the gold income from it.

Because of the potential 5 minute cool down on equipping , it's pointless equipping another trinket while you wait for Golden Fleece to cool down.

Attempted to determine the internal cooldown of the trinket by farming mobs in Dread Wastes (Zan'vess, Amber Quarry). Farming Manipolatore Zan'thik , Impalatore Zan'thik , Minatore Assoggettato , and Strisciatore Kypari. I pulled group of 5-10 mobs at a time to attempt to limit any down time and increase accuracy.

This is a small sample but it does appear that there is a 5 minute internal cooldown on the trinket. The cooldown either is not static at 5 minutes ( variable cooldown on the trinket) or there is a percent chance to drop gold piles (which would increase time between drops).

I wonder whether it's more of a reference to the original Golden Fleece (Greek mythology) or, considering the flavour text, perhaps "The Golden Fleecing"? It's a Scrooge McDuck story in which Scrooge wants a coat made of the Golden Fleece as it'd appropriately show off his wealth.

I am not sure if I experienced a bug, but I pulled a very large amount of mobs while having this item equipped and I found two piles of gold afterwards. So I'm thinking that this can proc twice in the same pull, but once again I am not 100% sure.

Prety easy to get. Nice loot glitering effect when equipped.
It will proc prety often and it drops from 10g to 30g on cata and mop zones,
A must have item when leveling from 85 to 90, skinning, daylies or farming reputation.
Ask a friend with double fly mont to help get Omnis dead.

So, as a test, I decided to bring this trinket along while farming normal stonecore. The mobs are still green to a lvl 90 and thus the trinket will pop. HOWEVER, the trinket has only dropped 2 and 4, and 5 gold thus far. Gold dropped is effected by the difficulty of the mob you are killing.

EDIT: After more testing it seems while in an Instance or a Dungeon the gold drop amount is low. Outside of low lvl raids/instances I was still getting 10-22gold per average from this item.

Glifo - Gran Destriero Sacro wasn't enough for my Gran Destriero, and finally we both sparkle!

It works fine for lvl 90 characters as well, so it should say whenever you kill a target that would yield experience. Proc rate is quite low though.

I was skeptical that this trinket would work on Cataclysm mobs due to the restraints of other Pandaria flavor items. I can confirm that it does work. I had 11 procs while doing a set of Tol Borad dailies.

If you're determined to get Got My Mind On My Money, I recommend combining Golden Fleece and Potion of Luck. Looting Tiny Treasure Chest and the Fleece's gold piles both count towards the achievement. Combine with killing humanoids and Northern Cloth Scavenging for even better profits.

Cha-Ching Cha-Ching! Ba-Bling Ba-Bling! Gives your toon a nice sparkly visual effect (the same kinda sparkles mining nodes have).

Also, the gold doesn't appear in your inventory when you loot the mob. It the trinket procs, the sound of jingling coins plays when the mob dies and gold coins shoot all over the place so you MUST be wearing the trinket when the mob dies to get a chance at the gold. A gold pile lands on the ground and has to be clicked independently of the mob's corpse in order to loot it. Average gold gained is about 12.5 gold. Procs on kill every 5 mins. Cooldown doesn't seem to reset if you have it unequipped.

Click the gold piles before you do anything else, as any player around you can click the piles and take your gold.

well, I need some help. I'm a level 90 noob. who am i kdding.... I'm a complete noob. been playing for 9 years, but I'm old, lost my relexes, and just don't remember stuff so well anymore.
Anyway, I'm a prot warrior with level 432 gear, 375K hp. I was hoping to target Grinlock, kill the adds one at a time with cleave and revenge, then victory rush for heals. however, Grinlock stealthed and ended up behind me and it was all over. S,o now that rend is gone for warriors, how can i keep him out of stealth without using demoralizing shout and aggroing the turtle that was helping me kill grinlock? I was spamming devastate, cleave, revenge and shieldslam. any suggestions? Wait until I have better gear? Thanks for any help you can provide.

If you are thinking about equipping this every 5 mins just for the proc and then re-equipping your main trinket, think again. The internal cooldown doesn't start counting down until equipped.

I just got the golden moss yesterday. I thought it was crap until I put it on and got like 50 gold off a mob. Then I read about the golden fleece. Got that now with the golden moss and i made 1800 gold in like 3 hours farming in the dread waste. 45 - 55 gold per drop for Golden Moss and 12 - 30 gold for Golden Fleece. Bankinnnnnn!

If you are like me and do any large ammount of mining, it is worth wearing this trinket while mining, and running the stop watch to inform you of every 5 minutes passed, then swoop down, kill a few mobs and loot your pile of gold, and continue on with your mining! It may not seem like a big deal, but ever 10-20g every 5 mins doesn't hurt!

I had to kill 63 lvl 90 mobs for this trinket to proc.

And the extra gold was: 13g 7s 40c

Totally not worth it if you are farming this.
If you are, do it for the bling bling...
Because you aint gonna get rich.

Out of curiosity, I tested to see if this would affect the guild perk Cash Flow. After looting a pile of gold that dropped from this, there was no difference in guild gold available before and after looting.

So sadly, 5%/10% of the gold you loot from this won't be added to the guild bank.

I wore this along with Golden Moss on my hunter and always log near Paoqaun Hollow for easy 50+ mobs kill for my Helpful Wikky's Whistle.
I've observed that the first batch of Zijin Hollowflies I multishot immedietely drops 2 gold bundles.
Yet no matter how much I kill for the next 5 minutes nothing will drop. I'm talking mobs by almost a hundred here since Zijin Hollowfly mobs come in like 10's in a group
So i think it might be cooldown based too on top of the % chance

I've done this about 3 weeks in a row since I also camp for Kol the Blade nearby and the same thing always happens to the first batch I kill when I log in.

Ok so I have this item and I am level 90. Nothing gives me experience anymore. I can PvP or go to the Isle of Thunder for honor but really.......is this the only way for a level 90 character to use this?

Used this thing in the Vale killing mogu for skyshards/keys. Farmed nonstop for about 30 min (almost never leaving combat) and got exactly 1 pile of gold. For 3g and change.

Not worth it imo - gonna stick with 2 trinkets so that I can just kill it faster.

Still works as of 6.1 in Draenor. I was grinding level 90 mobs in Frostfire Ridge for Orge Waystones and had 7g plus change drop.

I grinded out a second drop "For Science" and it was terrible. Estimated 60 kills for 2 drops of 16g total. I will definitely use it for the rest of my Waystone grind.

When I can test this trinket on level 99+ mobs I will come back and repost/edit.

Updated: Still works as of 6.1 on level 100 mobs. Took about 20-30 kills to get my first drop.

LEGION UPDATE:
As of September 1st, 2016 (the first week of Legion), I attempted to run around and kill dozens of mobs in Azsuna while questing, but did not notice any additional piles of gold being dropped at all. It appears as though this item no longer works above level 100, despite the tool-tip not suggesting that it doesn't :(

As of 02/13/2019, this still item still works but the gold drop isn't worth it. Just tested it for an hour and had it proc 3 times for a total of 18g17s27c. To put that in perspective, I earned 406g20s from quest turn-ins in that same hour (from level 110-111).

As of 8.2, this has been absurdly nerfed, both the amount of gold dropped and the chance for the gold to drop.

It also does not proc on legion content, farmed for over half an hour on terrorbeak mobs in Val'Sharah, only managed to get it to proc on BFA content
