Guys its only usable on players lvl -94... meaning you cant use it on any1 with flying mounts on pandaria.. you need 95 for flying. But i guess it could be fun to use anywhere else

Finally a way to get rid of those annoying people who like to park their Drake/ Mammoth/ Ungodly huge mount of choice on top of the mailbox, quest npc, vendor ect. Now I won't have to hunt for a way to access the aforementioned while dodging nether regions of whatever critter is trying to fuse itself to the Npc or mailbox!

So i have been farming for this shell every 2 or so hours and killed him about 20 times but i finally got the shell it does exist in live GL to you all for yours

Took about 7 kills for me. Fun item but the long-ish cooldown tones it down some.

Does not generate an HK when you take someone out only using this.

Also, if you use it on someone in a neutral location, the guards will come after you.

So far I've found that the terrace on Mogushan palace is a good spot for use, near where the Pandarian phoenix mounts are sold. Watch for someone leaving, target and let fly!

SUMMARY OF PERTINENT INFORMATION:

Only usable on unfriendly targets, (no dismounting friends or mailbox campers)
Has a 0.5 second cast timer (no insta-cast use scenarios)
Cannot be used while moving or falling (no dismounting someone to their death)
In addition to Pandaria, item is usable in PVP and non-pandaria zones, making it semi-useful in bg's when stuns are on CD

Well Blizz beat us to it, the item is fun and all but for those who had the same intentions as i did when first got it, let me sadly tell you that NO it wont dismount your targer and make them fall to their deaths. I first tested it by going to mess with people in Deepholm and Uldum and dismounting them. The item did NOT kill anyone i dismounted (seems like blizz gave us a cookie, not the whole jar....) however, it did made them fall and lose 50% HP. So what im trying to say is that it helps because depending how high your target is flying they will lose half of their health making it easier for you to kill them.

If you love world pvp then this item is for you. Also dismounts ground mounts for those targets who are running from you.

If you hate pvp then well.....the item does says "Seems Unfair"

Entering an arena resets the cooldown of the shell, so if you happen to be having a lot of fun knocking people off mounts entering an arena can remove that 15 minute wait.

Not sure about drop rate. Killed him almost 30 times now and no shell. Using an alt to spy for me I have found he spawns very close to 1 hour and between 20-30 minutes. He did spawn at 45 minutes once.

If you get hit by it, does it show up in the combat log? I was in flight form in the vale maybe 30-40 yards off the ground, and I tabbed out for like 5 seconds and when I tabbed back in, I was on the ground and a fire mage finished killing me. According to the combat log, I lost 192k from falling, but there was nothing about how I lost flight form, and I can't think of any way the mage could've dismounted me...

Edit: Must have been the mage somehow, I lost flight form and got hit by a several of the mage's attaks before I hit the ground, according to the combat log.

My crowning turtle shell achievements are:
1: Knocking a warrior into the middle of a 40 man Sha raid. he was trying to form a raid against us to wipe us and pull sha i found out later.
2: Knocking the SAME WARRIOR out of the air by Scritch by standing on the tall statue, shelling and Typhooning him while in the air so he fell to his death.

there's now a Warrior named something similar to Warsquirrell (not his exact name) who really, REALLY hates me.

Since the increase in spawn rate of 5.0 and 5.1 Rares in the new patch (5.2), I was under the assumption it was just for Sha and Galleon. Well glad to say I was able to grind Nessos every 20 to 30 min until I finally got mine :-)

So im on my way to TK for a farm run, when i happen across this mage afk above the Mechnaar but still too far out to hit with spells

But im not one to let that stop me, I fly towards him in the direction of mech and hit typhoon nudging him a little closer while relying on my inertia to land me safe just on the edge, a quick heal and I do it again, and then one last time and he's right in the crosshairs

From there he's in range and I could start nuking but all those spell noises might alert him and let him escape before I've had my fun, so I perch on the edge and hit him with the hardened shell and watch him fall into the twisting nether

I started playing WoW during Cataclysm, quit (before reaching max level) when MoP hit, then started playing again just a little over 6 months ago... At any rate, I have only had a max-level character for a few months now. I play like a fiend, but I am still behind most, gear-wise.

One day I randomly killed Sulik'shor and was very pleasantly surprised to see Cristallo della Pazzia drop. That is when I decided to do some reading about the rare champions and their rare drops, as I had obviously been missing out on something good. I decided that I wanted Guscio Rinforzato next... being on a PvP server, I saw a lot of potential for fun.

I always keep this in my bag & have it on my sidebar, so I can quickly and easily use it when the opportunity presents itself. So far this has only been a few instances, once while fighting off a group of Alliance that were fighting their way into Org (dismounted one while they were planning their next attack), but far more frequently I have used it to dismount enemy players that were hovering over groups at the Shrine of Two Moons and near the main entrance to Orgrimmar. I think we have all seen players that like to taunt to opposite faction that way, and nothing is funnier than dismounting/killing them. It works exactly the same for players in Sandstone Drake form and druids in flight form despite the fact that they technically aren't mounted.

My server is low-pop, and I have yet to see anybody else use this item. If you are about to use it to dismount a Paladin (who can simply bubble-boy hearth away on dismount) or any other player that you think may be able to get away before the kill, /yell to everybody nearby that you're about to dismount them, so prepare to attack.

As others have said, this does have a cast time (apparently 0.5 seconds) and once cast, it takes a short amount of time for the thrown shell to reach the player & dismount them... obviously this second interval is variable depending on how close you are standing to the target.

I know this isn't particularly useful, but worth noting... This item will not work on the Zandalari Warbringers. Even though the item says "Unusable on targets above level 94," and the Warbringers are only 92, you get an error message saying that their level is too high. Just something to keep in mind, don't assume that it will always work on hostile, mounted NPCs.

It was my intention when I first got this item to try and find a cliff or similar area with relatively-high traffic, so I could (at least once!) camp there and wait to dismount enemy players to send them flying off the cliff, falling to their deaths.

I was having some trouble with horde while camping Aeonaxx and I looked this item up. I thought, that's exactly what I need! While waiting for a Nessos respawn, I decided to camp Aeonaxx. I got him during that camp session but decided to farm the shell anyway. I figured I can use it for PvP and perhaps even, on a one time deal, fly back to Deepholm on my new phosphorescent drake and exact a little revenge. Pretty cool item, just wish I'd looked it up sooner. For those of you interested in obtaining it, Nessos has a fairly high drop rate. I got it o
n my 6th or 7th try. This cannot be used while flying. I found that out the hard way. It's come in handy on a couple of occasions but it certainly isn't what I thought it was. I guess that's the way it should be though as it keeps things more on even terms

Got the Hardened Shell ! Hooray! On the twenty-second kill of Nessos it dropped! Spawn times for him were an average of forty-five minutes with some variances of one-hour or one-hour-twenty thrown in. As for his burst damage, which can wipe you of your health, just don't let him get behind you, particularly after he goes spectral. Happy dropping! especially those nuisance players who like to grieve by buzz-taunting.

Bored while waiting for your next Garrosh group to form up? Got a way to stealth (ie, rogue/druid)?

Fly over to the opposing shring in Vale. Park on the corners of the shrine high enough up that you'd die if you fell.

Wait for someone to fly by or better yet ... AFK in flight mode near you.

Throw this. If they are actively flying you'll need to have your timing perfect.

Re-stealth and laugh with glee for performing the cheapest shot in game.

got this, off Nessos...first time fighting him...I think. :| anyway, I was confused, as I couldn't use it against Alliance or Horde, till I asked around...found out, that not only is it BoP, and unsellable, and cannot be disenchanted...it's a PvP item...meaning, you can only use it, on opposing faction players that are flagged...I wasn't too pleased about that, since I don't do PvP of any sort...I couldn't give it away, to a guildie, that's pretty big on PvP, so I was quite saddened, that I had no other choice, but to destroy this thing, since I don't ever intend to step foot in a BG. :( Blizz should allow this item to be either used, on non PvP players, or at the very least, allow it to be traded

UPDATE:
As of today (29.10.2014 - patch 6.0.3), the item is no longer in the toy box and you cannot learn it in any way. It corresponds with Blizzard's statement, that all toys involving other players are not considered toys.

This item is currently bugged. It is in the ToyBox greyed out, meaning it should be "learnable". However the item is not. Sometimes the item is labeled
as a toy, but upon clicking it, it says "Item is not ready yet". When you relog, it will not be marked as a toy and will tell you that you have to target a player to use it. So I expect it to be fixed soon, so that we will be able to learn this toy.

New Toys - Old Items Converting to Toys
I figured it's better now than later to start farming the old items that will be converted to toys in Legion. Who knows if they'll lower drop rates or how heavily they will be camped once they're added to the toybox.
I made myself a Google Sheets document to track all the toys being converted and it has the ability to mark off the item once you've found it. With the filters I can then hide any marked off toys. This has really helped me find and track the long list of items and I wanted to share it with the community. I've heavily cleaned it up for sharing purpose, so feel free to use it as you please!

Has anyone tried framing the Hardened Shell recently? Ive killed Nessos at least 10 times over a few days with zero success. i just want to know if the drop rate is not updated or if my luck is non-existant

I can confirm that the hardened shell does still drop from Nesso, even with the buffed, shorter respawns of the Timeless Isle rares, so you have three chances to get it. However, I have noticed that Nesso is not always up every hour like many have claimed. I have camped him a few times and he did not spawn. Furyshell only spawns once in a while, but sometimes might respawn multiple times a day when it's his time. I'm sure killing the other turtles will still make him randomly spawn as well, but I have not tested it. Chelon is still only farmable once per day. I have checked multiple times a day and have only ever been able to do him once.

Hardened Shell toy:

1. You can spawn Chelon once per day/character (if its up). Timeless Isle 25 36. Its a one shot kill so waiting for someone else to trigger it wont work. I parked 6 alts here and logged into them once a day to see if it was up. Usually was within the hour.17 kills over 3 days and no toy

2. You can go around and kill all the turtles which will force Great Turtle Furyshell to spawn. In my experience this can take about 15 minutes as you have to wait a bit for the turtles to re-spawn. Also a bit tense when it does spawn as you have about 10-15 seconds to get to him before someone else one shots all your hard work. 9 kills in 3 days. No toy

3. Nessos the Oracle at 63 13 @ Kun-Lai Summit. Tended to be up at least between 50 to 90 minutes. Sometimes not and I wondered if someone else wandered by and killed it? 12 kills in 3 days then the toy dropped. This seemed the best way as the one alt can hit this thing multiple times per day

I'm not sure how many times I killed the above when Timeless Isle was launched? My counter wasn't working back then. Just the 'Warning Sign' from Jakur of Ordon to go. 75 kills and still no drop. Jakur of Ordon is on a 40 to 65 minute timer. Gawd

Qualcuno mi porti un carrello, this was the hardest achievement in Mists of Pandaria.
I got this on the last day of the expansion: 14 December in 2011.
For this achievement I've spend a total of 4 mounths playing 4 hours a day.
This achievement is hardest cause do you need loot rare items from rare mobs.
Even the rares having 30 to 60 minutes spawn the problem here is cause those rares has low hp and die fast, making you lose then.

Another factor that make this achievement hard, is because the items needed has low drop chance.
For example the Redini della Serpe delle Nubi Tonante d'Onice, this mount has 0.9% drop chance, and was my last item for conclud the achievement.
I've spend a total of 400 trys to loot this mount.

My strategy for don't lose my mind while doing this insane grind was watching one piece while the Huolon doesnt spawn.
The addon called Rare Coordinator was great to track the rare spawn times, but I guess it's doesnt work on Dragonflight, cause you need other players to tracking with you.

Don't forget to use move speed items and teleport to reach rares faster.

With MoP Remix around the corner, it might be worth looking into some of these items that are limited to Pandaria only.

Corno da Battaglia An AoE that does no damage but will aggro everything in a 40-yard radius around you. Useful for rounding stuff up
Stendardo da Battaglia di Salyis Works a bit like a Rogue's Vanish, if you find yourself in a tough spot, and will drop you out of combat
