I despise this quest beyond reason because the shamans have the ability to heal themselves or others for an amount that normally restores them to full life, this makes it very irritating to kill them, and with a droprate that low, it gets very difficult as there is constantly a risk of being ganked around this area.

Either I'm very unlucky or this has a horrible drop rate. I'm doing quests to get to Exalted with Darnassus on a level 60 character, and even though I've been one-shotting every shaman I see, I've been here for at least half an hour without seeing any Voodoo Charms.

this quest just is'nt worth it, if you don't like hours of farming. started at lvl 7, abandoned / blacklisted the quest as the mobs turned green, never gonna do it again

Oh, it's not that hard as of 3.0. It does take some time, but I leveled once because I was rested. Took about 20 kills to get it. It all depends on luck of the draw. But 1/20 = 5%, which is what the drop rate is now on this site. So just figure for about 20 kills to get it.

Edit: and in response to Dreadlord, if you have a class that can interrupt, especially rogues with gouge (kick a few levels later), you should be fine. I did have an issue with my druid when I took him through because I'd be OOM by the time he healed and I had tried to take him down. Just bring a few pots (health and mana) and you should be fine.

I hate the lay-out of the minimap. It will show you standing RIGHT on top of your 'target' and it be nowhere in sight.
It is two or three levels above OR below you... YOU guess which and GRIND your way there to find out you went the wrong direction!

The amulet drops off any Gnarlpine Shaman, so you may kill your way back up to the top and continue about your other quests, slaughtering all shaman as you go. This could save you much time and frustration.

not only are you killing endless mobs, waiting for repawns to kill them again, but the cave is retardedly complicated to navigate through. overall this quest area takes like 20 minutes to get through if your lucky...

and blizzard wonders why more than 50% of new players quit before level 10... horrible...

Unless changed in 4.0, these charms are lootable by the whole group when(or IF :|) one drops. So if you see others farming this stupid charm, offer to group up. It'll ease a lot of pain.

I'm level 90, doing it for rep. I went into the barrow den found it within 5 minutes and i did the other quests i had at the same time. I guess it's just random! Good luck!

This item. This low, crappy (albeit random) drop rate is what pushes my Night Elf characters out of their starting area and into Westfall. This is seriously one of the most annoying quests in the game if the RNG is not in your favor. Plus, few (if any) people group up, so it is often a race to gank the shamans.

One can literally spend almost an hour running around jumping over dead bodies just trying to find a shaman that hasn't already been killed. Not a fun experience AT ALL. Be warned.
