I don't know about the purple lotus thing.. I've never gotten Wildvine when gathering Purple Lotus. I hav only found that Wildvine drops off of trolls.

A great way for a leatherworker who is on the Wild Leather quests from Pratt McGrubben (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=7852#) to farm wildvine if you can't get to the higher lvl areas. I killed the Skullsplitter mobs in central Stranglethorn Vale (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=669 map of the hunters to show you where to go) with no problem at all at lvl 44, taking on 2 or 3 at a time with my druid. While I was dong my Skullsplitter Tusk quest (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=209) I ended up gathering 6 of these in less than an hour.

I've got a bit of a farming horror story, to make the rest of you with bad drop luck feel better. I went to the Hinterlands to farm them on a 44 shadow priest. It started out great, four off the first twenty kills or so. Next three hours: 0 drops. Burned through a full bar of exp.
Frustrated, I gave up and bought them off AH.

If it happens that there aren't any Wildvines on the AH, just go to STV and advertise to buy them from people in /1. Most people who quest around the level 40 range will have a few to sell you, I got enough for 8 green lenses for just 10g this way. :)

I made 3 stacks killing the vile branch around Jintha'Alor waiting for the purple lotus to spawn, which only panned out to about 9 from over 40 plants... time two hours. Plus I got (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=13112) and loads of mageweave cloth.

I just farmed Jintha Alor today for Mageweave Cloth and Wildvine. Starting at the bottom gates and working my way to the back of the cave at the top of the temple mount. I came out of it with 73 Mageweave Cloth and 11 Wildvine. As posted above Wildvine can be farmed from Purple Lotus which is all over every level of Jintha Alor. I noticed a change in drop rate and item quality. Wildvine used to drop more frequently and it was a white quality herb. It is now a uncommon herb. Miker was right about Dreamweave Circlet formerly being of green quality, but it's not been for at least the past 4 years and I have played for over 5. I have had 4 mages and 1 Warlock to max level, and used it on all but 2 of those characters for this reason:).

This place used to be a group area until they nerfed the named elites and Vilebranch Aman'zasi Guards. For a cloth wearer at level 60 you had to be careful because the guards in the cave cleaved and could 2-3 shot you in Tier 2 gear back in Vanilla Wow. I used to farm this place strictly for Mageweave and vendored the Wildvine a lot of times. There are better places for Mageweave but on a high population server you can't be picky. Levels 45-50 used to be horrible back in Vanilla and nerfing the elites here really sped up the hard grind before experience points were overhauled a couple of times. I have had over 100 world epic drops in my Wow career but only 1 in this area off a level 46 wolf patrol. LOL! Over 100 world epic drops sounds crazy but I have had double and even triple drops of some items.

Cant seem to find these anywhere now, have been collecting a few purple lotus's in lower felwood, but not one of these. any ideas on where to find them?

I think looting was changed recently for this stuff, I can't seem to find it anywhere. Many of the mobs that have a high drop rate aren't showing up where wowhead is showing them. Maybe there's some phasing going on.

The comment made by Viva is no longer true. The mobs in Jintha Alor do not drop this stuff, I just finished a quick run through the place, killed every mob in there, some mobs twice. Not one of them dropped any wildvine. I also killed some trolls in the surrounding area with no luck.

I was doing the "farming" on my 80 dk who has never quested in this zone, so maybe the stuff only drops during quests.

I've been getting a very low drop rate farming all the Skullsplitter trolls in Northern STV.

Low, as in you get about the same number of green armor items dropping.

I can also confirm the drop rate is inexistant in Jintha Alor... I've been trying to farm the Wildvine for a full hour and no success at all. This is kinda aggravating. At AH its currently listed for 5g a piece! Blizzard can classify it as Uncommon but they should fix the drop rate anyway. Its not like its Rare...

Well I killed a massive amount of Skullsplitter Trolls, witch doctors and otherwise, and didn't get one wildvine however I spend less than an hour farming purple lotus in Felwood and got 5. Just lettin' that be known.

I wouldn't even attempt to farm this in the Hinterlands now that the level has been lowered. Most of the "old" farming spots have changed for various mats, unless it's in one of the few zones that stayed the same level.

Edit: In about an hour I killed around 150 trolls in the Hinterlands, with not a single Wildvine drop at all. I went to Felwood and spent another hour killing Angerclaw Maulers, and none there either. A guildie with herbalism picked 93 Purple Lotus in Felwood and got 4 wildvine over the course of about 2 hours.

While the availability of this item may be an issue (I can't say, as I started just before the release of Cata) for pre-Cata players that had already learned leatherworking patterns that required Wildvine, the lack of availability of Wildvine is not really a hindrance to the player learning leatherworking now. All but one leatherworking pattern that uses Wildvine appears to have been depreciated by Blizzard - only appears able to still be able to be acquired (trainer). And since are a BoP item, you won't need to ever make more than 1.

(However, I can't say either way whether the same applies to other trade professions.)

If someone knows something I don't about how to acquire the pattern for the other items - most particularly the - I'd LOVE to hear it

Other sources for this are elementals that drop herbs(sames ones that drop heart of the wild will drop this), and can be herbalized from the appropriate level range plant elemental mobs too(40sih level range?). Making herbalists the most likely source to obtain these other than the ocassional troll/elemental with the right level range(should be about 43-49)

I lapped Felwood for about 45 minutes. I've collected so far:
128 Gromsblood
95 Golden Sansom
28 Dreamfoil
55 Purple Lotus

That was not even bothering to stop and collect some herbs. Total Wildvine = 2. Horrible.

So after sometime of farming in Felwood w/ 406 herbing & flight form I have managed to get this count with no one else herbing as well:

(147) Purple Lotus (210 herbing skill required)
(11) Wildvine

Wildvine drop is horrid that's for sure, so for anyone who needs these for armor, you'll be at it for a while. AH on my server rarely has any, so have no choice but to pick.

I use the Gatherer Addon, to help track the spawning areas, which consists of only 5 spots. Ruins of Constellas can spawn up to 4 plants if u give it time.

Submitted a Screenshot to hopefully help - waiting for approval, if not.. i'll submit the link to the screen shot later.

Hope this helps to give a good rough idea

Just to confirm an earlier comment, that for the Skullsplitter Trolls it does only appear to be the witchdoctors who drop this. I gave up when there weren't any more witchdoctors, and they weren't spawning very quickly.

doing herbalism with my mage in felwood got 40 purple lotus and no wildvine lvl 45 mage which also is felwood so i've been collecting as i do quests. switched to my hunter lvl 65 went to the Ruins of Zul'Mamwe in Northern Stranglethorn and slaughtered skullspliter trolls for about an hour maybe more and got 4 wildvine. as stated above it only fell from witchdoctors for me but still kill everything just to be sure I did get 2 stacks of silk and wool cloth that i'll put on the AH and maybe find some wildvine to buy.

Over the course of farming the Skullsplitters around the Zul'Mamwe ruins East of Fort Loivingston for an hour I got 3 Wildvine and they only came from Witch Doctors.

I had tried the Skullsplitter Witch Doctors without success. Then I went to Felwood and picked up 3 Wildvines by picking Purple Lotuses (as well as Dreamfoil that I needed for something else) in about 30 minutes and no other herbs. I had picked up only one Wildvine there before in a similar run a long while ago.

I guess that the best shot at getting any Wildvine at all is to have a herbalist pick Purple Lotuses in Felwood and pray to the RNG god for the Wildvines to drop. ;-)

It appears that this is now all incorrect information - I have been trawling all the areas mentioned for either killing mobs to drop wildvine or finding purple lotus for 2 days and so far not a sniff of anything - i hope that at some point all the info on google will be updated as at the moment i am very annoyed that i have followed all advice given and nothing. I need this to make gear for a mage and WOW should make them more readily available as the gear is not even high level.

After picking 65 purple lotus I still have 0 wildvine. I understand the way percentages work and after 30 I thought, wow I'm having really bad luck but after 60...somethings gotta be wrong. Surely Blizzard didn't intend to make wildvine this hard to get.

I'm one of those people that likes to tradeskill, make my own stuff and gather the materials myself, although I did check the ah for a week for wildvine and found none there either.

I guess professions are solely for the stat bonus at 85 now. Forget making and wearing gear while you level.

*edit: 78th purple lotus gave up one wildvine. So yes they do still drop.

Okay, this is retarded I was farming Wildvine from Purple Lotus, thinking " Oh! It's only around one out of ten Purple Lotus, and it says it can drop 8! This will be easy making my Dreamweave Circlet and Dreamweave Gloves! This will be like getting the Blood Elf Bandit Mask, easy as pie! " After SEVERAL HOURS of farming I only got TWO out of four STACKS... Looks like my warlock won't get her gear... increase the darn drop rate... this is insane, Wildvine on Exodar is around 100 gold to 200 gold for ONE!

I need a couple of wildvine to make a +7 agility enchant for my level 19 hunter's boots.

There were none on the Alliance or Horde auction house, so I came here to Wowhead to
find out where to farm wildvine since the shattering of Cataclysm changed everything.

I took my level 85 spriest out to Felwood to pick Purple Lotus and took a previous poster's advice and made the circuit a few times. *NOTE you will always find purple lotus next to or near a column or low wall in a ruins. You can see the ruins on the minimap. Next time I go to Felwood, I'm gonna concentrate on just the columns and walls in the ruin areas.

I got 2 or 3 stacks of purple lotus and no wildvine. An 85 druid was herbing in the area, so I left and did some Timbermaw rep quests and returned. The purple lotus drop rate was always low and I thought it was a little better now than it used to be before Cataclysm. I'd always picked it in The Hinterlands and Stranglethorn, however. I still got zero wildvine drops.

I went to The Hinterlands to kill Vilebranch Witchdoctors and ended up killing anything with 'Vilebranch' in it's name. No wildvine!

On a hunch, I ran Zul' Farak dungeon, because I thought a wildvine dropped there on a random dungeon run I went through recently. There are alot of trolls in Zul' Farak was my reasoning. No wildvine there at all. That dungeon is not worth running as a higher level anymore for drops since it seemed to only drop meat and drinks and a couple mageweave cloths. If you have an enchanter, you can disenchant the blue gear drops from the bosses, but that seems to be the only reason to farm Zul' Farak anymore on a higher level.

My next step is to kill the trolls in Stranglethorn, but I have a problem in Stranglethorn because I did some level 85 quests there and it's phased for level 85 now on my shadow priest and my druid who both pick herbs.

I'll be going back to Felwood and concentrate on just the ruins where purple lotus spawns
to try to get a wildvine or two.

Purple Lotus will always be next to a column or a wall.

It is never in the open or near a tree.

I needed one. Farmed Felwood for 3 stacks of purple lotus, no drop. Killed Skullsplitter Witch Doctors and everything else four or five times... no drop. Hours wasted on this stupid plant. I will never go for this again, I'll' farm motes instead for the enchant I want.

Checked AH - none.

Created a lvl 1 toon and check opposing players AH and found one for 9 gold. IF THEY ONLY KNEW! Finally got it back to my side but that was fun in itself.

After all the previous comments relating how hard it is to get wildvine, which I need for leatherworking, I decided to do a little research on my own. My lvl 525 herbalist put on his gatherer gloves and went to the purple lotus sites in Felwood as shown on the in-game map by the Gatherer addon. There were very few when compared to the other herbs. Gatherer indicated about a dozen possible sites in all of Felwood, and as was mentioned previously, there was a cluster of these around the Ruins of Constellas. According to Gatherer, there are none further north than Whispering Rock. I checked for myself and this was correct.

The first sweep of Felwood got me four active sites where purple lotus could be harvested. None of these produced any wildvine. This means, of course, that I now had to wait for respawns if I wanted to continue to work this area. Someone had previously stated that they got two or three stacks of purple lotus on a sweep of Felwood. Under the conditions that exist at this moment, this would be far from possible.

On the second run of Felwood I again found only four active purple lotus sites. These netted me one wildvine.

I consider the low availabilty of wildvine to be an error in programming. Wrote a ticket. A GM got back to me real quick and told me that the matter had already been reported.

I was farming this for a guildie, and thought it would take me a lot longer than it did. Based on all the comments I was afraid I would spend hours farming for one wildvine... maybe I was just lucky today, I don't know. I circled Felwood and looped between the 5 spawn points for Purple Lotus, and within about an hour I collected 97 Purple Lotus and 7 Wildvine.

Summary: The spawn points are near ruins; always against a wall or rubble. Here is where they are roughly located:

Irontree Woods, just east of Whisperwind Grove (49.5, 31.0)
Shatter Scar Vale, south of Whisperwind Grove (42.5, 36.0)
Bloodvenom Post (39.5, 45.0)
North of the Ruins of Constellas*** (38.0, 67.0)
Morlos' Aran (57.0, 85.5)

***Best farming location, up to 4 nodes at a time here.

It doesn't seem to be as bad as all the hand wringing. When you consider that these days there are only two real reasons for Wildvine, the Haste and Agility enchants for lowbie PvP toons, which only require two each, it's not that hard to find.

I spent one 15 minute hearthstone CD looking in Felwood, moving form spawn to spawn, and found 5 (one was a double due to Guild buff), which was pretty consistent with the 10% advertised drop rate, a little better really considering I only picked a stack and a half, but reasonable. Of course it's nowhere near the old drop rates in places such as the Hinterlands, but who makes Wildvine Potion these days anyway?

As an herbalist, and using Gatherer patch 4.3.3 the above map is actually fairly accurate. Unfortunately the drop rate is very crappy. I have 49 Purple lotus in my bag (this is after perk from guild level 25) so I actually picked about 28 lotus and did hit the areas of the map above. Absolutely ZERO wildvine. Sending in note to GM, nothing they can do atm, but at least I am lending my voice to the others.

One of my alts needs Wildvine (a stack of 10) to make two cloth armor items (Dreamweave Vest and Dreamweave Gloves) for another one of my alts. The problem is none of my other alts with herbalism has a high enough score to farm in Felwood as of now. So I am left with my main, an 80 human warrior, to grind for the elusive herb in Northern Stranglethorn. Grinding from troll ruin to troll ruin has so far only yielded 3 Wildvine.

Running around clearing out the trolls I noticed one spot that had four Stonesplitter Witch Doctors at the Ruins of Zul'Mamwe. This particular spot is behind an arch at coords 56.9, 67.3. The initial kill round yielded one Wildvine. After coming back to it a couple of times making my circuit I also began to notice that there are always respawns of 5 trolls at this spot. So I then decided to conduct an experiment.

In 30 minutes I managed to kill 4 groups of trolls after every respawn. They always respawned in varying combinations of Skullsplitter Witch Doctors, Skullsplitter Scouts, and Skullsplitter Hunters.

The breakdown is as follows:
First group: 2 SS Witch Doctors and 3 SS Scouts.
Second group: 2 Witch Doctors, 1 Scout, and 2 SS Hunters.
Third group: 2 Witch Doctors, 3 Scouts.
Fourth group: 2 Witch Doctors, 1 Scout, and 2 Hunters.

During the 30 minutes I noticed one Skullsplitter Mystic and one Skullsplitter Axethrower walking on the foot-path through my kill-zone and stopping for a few seconds, then either walking through or turning around as I waited for the next respawn.

By the way, there is a nearby hill at 57.4, 66.7 that is a great spot to perch and wait for the next respawn.

Each time I made note of how long it took to kill, then loot and wait for respawns. On average the wait time was as follows:
Kill time: 1 minute.
Looting time: between 45 seconds and one minute.
Time it took for the troll bodies to disappear: one minute.
Respawn rate: 2 minutes.

The respawn rate is quite decent. I did not have to wait too long and there was plenty of time to gather the loot before the next respawn occurred, so I did not have to fight off an NPC gank. (I know, at lvl 80 one does not have to worry about that, unless your toon is at the troll's level or below.)

After taking a break and coming back later I continued with my experiment with the following results:

Grind time: 1 hour.
Number of groups killed: 8.
Kill Round 1: unknown (was distracted by a lvl 80 Horde).
Kill Round 2: 3 Witch Doctors, 1 Scout, 1 Hunter.
Kill Round 3: 1 Witch Doctor, 4 Scouts.
Kill Round 4: 1 Witch Doctor, 2 Scouts, 2 Hunters.
Kill Round 5: 1 Witch Doctor, 2 Scouts, 2 Hunters.
Kill Round 6: 2 Witch Doctors, 3 Hunters.
Kill Round 7: 2 Scouts, 3 Hunters.
Kill Round 8: 1 Witch Doctor, 4 Hunters.

Which yielded the following loot:
39 silver 30 copper
Silk Cloth: 20
Wool Cloth: 6
Mutton Chop: 1
Healing Potion: 1
Melon Juice: 1
Bulk Bludgeon (poor): 1
Tough Leather Boots (poor): 1

No Wildvine.

This is a very disappointing result looking for this one item. But if you are determined as I am to do what is necessary to get this item, this hot spot for Witch Doctors, if one could safely call that, should give some hope. Maybe this will be helpful, and I will continue to record any further results. If anyone has better luck at this spot using this method, I would like to know.

Drop rates for low level profession items is stupidly low across the board. Mats like spider silk and wildvine require 4-6 or so each to make low level items and it's come to the point they aren't even worth farming anymore. It's not like we're trying to make tier armor for pete's sake >.< . Blizzard needs to buy a clue and either lower the amounts required or up the drop rates significantly. Or just remove the useless patterns altogether if they're going to be so dumbass cheap on mat drops. Yet another fail on Bliz's part. I saw ONE wildvine on the AH for 85 gold.. pshaw! Sad.

I'm wondering if the drop rate for these has been upped, this week on the AH I've bought 38 (one stack of 18, one of 20) of these, and I'm on a low pop server. People are obv doing professions or levelling alts whilst waiting for MoP, so possibly Blizzard have seen the light on these.

If anybody sees a larger quantity of Vite Selvaggia, this is very likely not a result of herb gathering. But warning beforehand: drop rate is quite high when compared with other farming methods, but respawn rate is absurdingly low.

So after 3 hours of farming the 5 spawn points of purple lotus in felwood, a ticket confirmation from a GM that wildvine DOES still spawn, and being ganked by lvl 90's trying to level their herbalism, I am the proud owner of 107 Purple lotus and ONE (that's 1) wildvine. Frustrated that my twink enchant calls for 2 wildvine, I decided to head to northern stranglethorn and see if I'd have better luck with the Skullsplitter whitchdoctors. After 1 hour and about 90 kills, I was able to get one to drop. Flying back through STV, My silverdragon addon picked up <A href=http://www.wowhead.com/npc=11383 High Priestess Hai' Waina> One shotted her and got another one! Hope this helps!

So I have farmed these, and counted nodes. I got about 1 wildvine per 20 nodes (from purple lotus). Try to get these at a time when nobody else is farming them, or you end up competing with off-realmers (thank you blizzard for that...*insert muttering and dirty words here*)

Now I know everybody wants the wildvine for enchants or gear, but you are going to end up with a ton of purple lotus. This is not a bad thing. Purple lotus is a material for Sacca per Erbe Cenariana a nice (and good selling) herb bag. Easy sell at 60-80 gold each. I have a couple in my bank slots for storing herbs, and carry the hyjal expedition bags with me. These are much cheaper than the Cata bags although smaller. I don't know about most people, but 300-400g per slot for storing herbs is a bit more than I want to spend. (The cenarion bags I use while leveling lowbie alts)

I WISH that I could get one Large Fang for every 20 raptors I killed. Since that is a "white" item and used for low level blue bracers with leatherworking. (Cant think of the name though, haven't had my coffee yet)

Anyway, if you see these in AH for under 20g, buy them out. They sell for an easy 50-150g depending on how many are listed. Main mat for twink boot enchant (+7 agility), so the enchants sell for massive amounts. I would think you would get an easy 500g or more, depending on how greedy you are feeling at the time. *lol*

After searching for this rare herb i found that quite by accident the plant section of Mauradon drops it quite frequent.Well as frequent enough that i don't farm purple lotus anymore.Hopefully this helps anyone still wanting to cash in on this rare drop from WOW.

Farmed 328 Purple Lotus in Felwood and got only 13 Wildvine. This is really pathetic and they need to change it.

I've had fairly limited success getting Wildvine in Felwood. It's paired up with Purple Lotus, and pre-Cataclysm it was easy to get in Tanaris. Now however, the sites in Tanaris are underwater, so Felwood is pretty much the only spot to pick it apart from the bottom bit of Feralas.

I use Gatherer, and have this map to share here:

I don't think I can post an in-line image, but suffice it to say, it does point out the spots to find Purple Lotus (and hence Wildvine). The map also shows Mithril and Truesilver nodes. If you can spot the Gold node, well done! Give yourself a pat on the back.

I wanted to make wildfeather leggings for a druid alt which need 4 wildvine. I came on here and read the comments about how rare wildvine is to find but I thought I'd give it an hour of my time up in Felwood. It took me 20 minutes to get the 4 wildvine I needed and 33 purple lotus. I don't know whether the drop rates have changed or it was an extremely lucky day. Anyway I wish you all the same amount of luck.

Since I was in need of 4x Vite Selvaggia to craft Guanti di Tessuto Onirico, I read the comments for this herb and headed to Northern Stranglethorn, as most comments stated that the Hinterlands (my usual farming spot for Vite Selvaggia) had been set ablaze in Deathwing's path.

I headed to the southern part of Northern Stranglethorn, Ruins of Zul'Mamwe - roughly southeast of the Fort Livingston flight point/camp. According to other posts, ALL of the Skullsplitter trolls have a chance to drop Vite Selvaggia. I farmed through these ruins (and the two slightly to the north of it) for about 90 minutes and came up with 4x Vite Selvaggia.

Unfortunately, all four came from Taumaturgo Fendicranio. Not one of them from any of the other types of trolls. Naturally, I killed everything that moved to test my drop theory and to force more of the Taumaturgo Fendicranio to spawn.

My advice is to stick to the Ruins of Zul'Mamwe, and kill everything in a neat rotation and hope for plenty of Taumaturgo Fendicranio to spawn, for I believe that these are the only ones who drop Vite Selvaggia.

I can confirm that these drop from Taumaturgo Fendicranio, though they're pretty rare. I must have killed close to 20 of these guys before I saw even one. So non-herbalists, there's hope!

Also, my sincerest apologies to whoever I bought 3 of these from for less than a gold each on the Auction House. Your innocence was a wonder to behold.

I just got 2 Wildvine from Purple Lotus in Felwood within 10 mins. So they are still dropping with Purple Lotus.

Still looks like quantities of this are scarce. I did 4 passes through the Skullsplitter Trolls near that little fort. First couple I killed everything, last two I only concentrated on the Witch Doctors. Got 2, 4, 0 & 2. Total of 8.

As of mid 2014 these still do drop from the Skullsplitter Witch Doctors, but the drop rate is appaling. It took me an hour & a half to obtain 4 with my level 90 Frost Mage. I could mow all the Skullsplitters down very fast but the WDs spawned far less often that the other classes & even then rarely did the WD's drop the wildvines.

It took 45 minutes just to get the first one. I was about to give up when it dropped. In hindsight I don't think the pair of gloves I wanted to make warranted so much time.

My husband just went picking in Felwood while I went killing in Stranglethorn - 45 minutes, I had 3 and he had 1. So, painful, but probably killing is faster

I made a full circuit of Felwood today and netted the following:
41 Gromsblood
25 Dreamfoil
53 Sansam
5 Purple Lotus
and a Big Fat Zero on Wildvine. :(

(put in a suggestion that blizz look at the drop rate, hopefully that will get this looked at)

We all know the drop rate is, well, crap. Lol. But I also needed a pair of those Guanti di Tessuto Onirico for my transmog. Here's my experience if it helps anyone. Since I don't have herb as a prof, I grinded the Taumaturgo Fendicranios in Northern Stranglethorn. Needed 4 in total. Seems the 57/67 area of coords are where you wanna stick to.

Started at 7:23pm EST (Server Bloodhoof of same TZ)
After 10 mins (7:33pm) one found at 57.7, 70.5
After 21 mins (7:54pm) second found at 62.2, 67.5
After 23 mins (8:17pm) third found at 57.1, 67.0
After 8 mins (8:25pm) fourth found at 57.3, 67.3 (finally!)

Total time: 1h 2m.

Got one drop off of the second witchdoctor that I killed in stranglethorn...then I got ran off by a horde mage farming the same place, one shotting me over and over....so....I decided to head to the hinterlands.

I've been grinding every troll on the list here that says that a wildvine drops from for 2 hours. I am convinced that wildvine does NOT drop from the trolls in hinterlands.

Does anyone know of ANY other place to get this herb? (i dont have herbalism on any of my characters yet...) and the AH never has it....

Well I think Blizzard must have upped the drop rate in Northern Stranglethorn (Ruins of Zul'Mamwe) because I got my stack of ten in about 30 minutes. I started out by just running around wiping everything out with no drops. Then remembered a comment on here about the Witch doctors so I concentrated on those. Within 5 kills I had one so to test the theory I went around killing everything again to no avail. So back to the Witchdoctors... Again within 5-7 kills had another one. There are only about 10-12 that spawn in that whole area so I made a targeting macro to find them ( /target Skullsplitter Witch Doctor ). And I would say every 5-8 kills I would get a drop. Once I had one back to back so it varies. Good luck and happy hunting!

Note: 2 annoying things... 1) The macro will target the dead Witch doctors if there isn't one alive and 2) The Witch Doctors seem to share their spawn point with the scouts and axe throwers... I went back to get more to sell on the AH and there seemed to be a lot less around since all I was killing was the Witch doctors. So I started killing scouts and axe throwers too and more popped back up.

This just totally sux. If I wanted another job (3rd), I would have gone out to get one! They have made "professions" NOT FUN by making them so that you need sooo many of each item.... 50 here 40 there, etc.... I wanna get into the GAME! NOT have to work another job too! And with sooooo many people playing, it's even harder to get the mats we need, as it is!

This is just my 2 cents. No need to downrate, cuz if you do, it will just prove YOU have no respect for anyone's opinions but your own.

I made a simple macro: /target Skullsplitter Witch Doctor. Pick a small flying mount and go in circles. I think i might have gone 30 minutes and only got 4. Very low drop rate in STV.

As horrible as ever since Cata. I spent 40 minutes killing trolls in Stranglethorn. Got 1 wildvine. I went up to Felwood and picked purple lotus. Got two wildvine. Suspect it's just dumb luck, but I'll take what I can get.

Farmed for ~2hours @ Felwood and i got: 5 wildvine and 150 purple lotus - i must say that i got my 1st wildvine on my 1st attempt and my 2nd after 1 HOUR!
3rd,4th and 5th droped in row after 2HOURS!
Ps. No wonder nobody goes to felwood anymore - such bad memories, the place is definitely cursed!

I tried farming the Vilebranch trolls in Hinterlands first, but had no luck at all. Then I went to STV and focused on the Skullsplitter Witch Doctors, and this is definitely the most effective way to go.

2018 WildVine Farm/Proc/Drop Rate Update:

For those of you bashing your head through your keyboards in a vain attempt to find what is seemingly a simple reagent, here are some stats I gathered. After trying both Purple Lotus gathering in Felwood (a claimed 10% proc rate from older comments, pre-2016 we'll say) as well as Skullspliter Witch Doctor slaughtering (also, a 10% est. drop rate, also pre-2016 postings). My results:

0 Wild Vine from Purple Lotus

Yup. You thought titanium was a pain to farm? By the good grace of Blizzard, another potentially profitable crafting piece (rare these days) has been rendered a waste of time at best. I am convinced this (and Titanium, and a few other "reagents") are just a way to get players to grind out hours of wasted playtime to make the game look like it still "as busy as ever".

If Blizzard feels the need to just make reagents required for crafts never available, why not just remove the gear from the profession and call it a day?

Wildvine can be farmed by gathering Purple Lotus. The drop rate has been seriously nerfed from 10% down to around .03%... It's like Blizzard doesn't want anyone to use Wildvine anymore... LAME! My results farming wildvine this way were 44 Purple Lotus to 1 Wildvine.

Farming locations in Felwood:

--- Purple lotus nodes in Ruins of Contstellas.
--- Purple lotus nodes (east of Whisper wind grove) that respawns about every 3-5 minutes.

47 minutes yielded 99 Purple Lotus and 8 wildvine. Had to have been extremely lucky and got 4 wildvine in 4 nodes in a row.

In two short farms today I picked up 97 purple lotus and 4 wildvine, just cruising between the spots where I know lotus spawns (night elf ruins).

1st run, around 2pm, 30 min: 40 purple lotus, 1 wildvine
2nd run, around 8pm, 30 min: 57 lotus and 3 wildvine

Notable spots seemed to be 1) a bit north of Ruins of Constellas and 2) just east of Whisperwind Grove. Both areas often have two nodes up at once, where others have one. Respawn timer seems to be about 5 minutes, give or take.

Farmed from north to south and back up again using the nodes show in the gather mate 2 add on.

I unchecked every herb except for the lotus. (go into Gather mate 2, click filters, click herbalism tab, uncheck all, then check purple lotus)

There are five areas that they spawn in (could be more i guess, but none that I saw)

Forty mins of farming netted me 67 golden lotus and 2 wildvine.

Thank god I only needed two of these very elusive herbs. My AH (DMF/ER) wanted 4.5k per herb! (I'm tight like that so broke out my druid farmer)

While I despise the way this site looks. I still want to push forward good data even as a future non-premium sub to them. The best place to farm these is the skull splitter camps in Strangle-thorn vale while farming you get at minimum 2 wildvine every 20min killing them!

Apparently, you can receive Wildvine from farming Purple Lotus even if your herbalism skill is low. Mine was ~20 when i got my first drop.

Best way to farm this item is to farm purple lotus in Felwood. I recommend a leveling alt between level 40-50 in cataclysm timewalking mode so its very unlikely you will have any competition. You do not need a high herbing level and the herbs nodes can be farmed quite easily, avoiding npc mobs from attacking you.

Yes, the wildvine drop rate is low, but these do drop. Fly a circle around the Ruins of Zul'Mamwe in Northern Stranglethorn and use a target macro to kill the Skullsplitter Witch Doctors. Don't bother with the other trolls. Don't bother looking at other ruins. The spawn rate isn't horrible if there's no competition. I've done this a few times over the years, and this is the most consistent way to get them.

If you use gathermate2, I recommend to disable all other herbs from this zone besides purple lotus, so the spots are better visualized. My recommendation, when you should buy from the AH or not:

- 1000 gold. Its black friday. There are thousands of other options, where you can make gold faster than farming Wildvine yourself.
- 2000 gold. Still ok price.
- 3000 gold. Here it depends on your money making skills.
- 4000+ gold. Yeah, Id rather farm it myself at this point.

A little statistics with few data by me:

337 Lotus
12 Wildvine
per herbalism process = 1, 2 or 3 lotus -> average 2
337/2 = 168,5 | 168,5/12 = 14

This means you get one vine every 14th time you use herbalism. I started in the north and went south, logged out for 10, 15 mins to have respawn, logged back in and started from south to north. Repeat. Got about 40 to 50 flowers for a north south, south north route. Lets say 45. ( 45/2 ) / 14 = 1,6

So a north south route once gives you 0,8 vine. Times 4 means 3,2 vine per hour. Thats not really a lot and also only if youre the only one farming it. So yeah.. sure, you can do something else while you wait for the respawn, but Id rather watch netflix or something during the waiting time. What Im trying to say, its REALLY annoying to farm this by yourself and if its just something between 1000 or 2000 gold on your server. Buy it! At the same time its an amazing opportunity to make gold for a 30/40 character with flying while you are waiting for the dungeon queue invite.

Collected about 100 Purple lotus normally, got 0 Wildvine.
Switched to The Burning Crusade with Chromie time, within the first 3 purple lotus i got a Wildvine.

Maybe i was just unlucky? maybe its because of the level scaling? i dont know, but it works.

gathered on a lvl 47 druid in Felwood.

As of 9.2.5 the best farming is still Felwood from Purple Lotus. If you are doing standard herb farming picking all herbs and it's not too busy you will get 1 Wildvine about every 20-30 minutes (per 12-15 Purple Lotus) . The Lotus are mostly near the ancient Elf ruins. It will take about 6-10 Purple Lotus Nodes to get 1 Wildvine.

In case anyone is farming this for whatever reason, just as an FYI I was out on a max level (70, Dragonflight) character with low level (classic) herbalism (44), and picking Purple Lotus I got Purple Lotus Petal and Wildvine from the same plant - you get Lotus Petals, but full Wildvines. Go farm, don't need to level your herbalism first (unless you want to or w/e, I'm not your dad...probably).

I went from bottom to top of the zone and got 5 Wildvines in one go. I was on Cataclysm Chromie time with Warmode off on an old alt with nearly 300 Classic Herbalism.
