A BOA agility polearm acquired through archaeology? If so, diggers will have many thousands of solves to look forward to before they get one.

Update: this item did turn out to be a BOA agility polearm acquired through archaeology. Good luck and may your artifact solves never be replaced by freshly ironed wool socks.

This rare item, like all rare items, is likely actually rare. The fact that I dug up my first Pandabear fragment and opened my journal to see that this was my new project is, as far as I'm concerned, Blizzard apologizing for the fact that I still don't have a blue bug to ride around on.

Two things about this discovery:

1.) I was extremely lucky to find it on my third discovery. So, yes it is possible to get it after just starting digs for the first time in MoP. Worth getting? Think about this, I was able to run around with an iLvL 463 weapon at level 85, way before getting to the typical associated level of 90. Plus, its BoA, so more to share with alts.

2. I had dual Gurthalak, Voce delle Profondità before and was averaging +14k dps with no buffs, just farming at lvl 85 (fury). When I equipped Lancia di Xuen, I was averaging over 18k dps! I wasn't even configured for the spear and it was a huge boost in dps. (Looks like I will need to switch to Arms!)

This spear is a must have for grinding alts up to 90. Obviously, look what is BiS for your class once you get to 90 and change accordingly, but it seems if you are able to equip it, it's well worth it to have!

This is a rare BOA polearm from solving Pandaren artifacts. It takes 180 fragments and you have a chance loot it as soon as you start archaeology in Pandaria.

After getting to Pandaland with my DK alt I had forgotten I had this item in my main characters bank. All I can say is OMG, this item is soooo powerful. Forget the fact it adds to Agility, just, simply ignore that if you are a warrior/DK/paladin, etc. The pure amount of damage this item does is insane. This item is completely worth the archeology grind to get it.

A silly "noob-type" comment, but since it's not mentioned elsewhere here, I thought I'd post it anyway:

When upgrading this item, the default "Upgrading this item will cause it to become soulbound. Do you wish to continue?" textbox will open.
You may safely upgrade the item without it affecting the B.O.A status.

I've been playing since vanilla days, and when the textbox popped I had a momentary lapse, so for any like myself who come here to check, I hope this helps :)

Levelled from 1-525 in about 5 hours, on Pandaria i get Spear of Xuen as my third solve :D

These items can be upgraded by Voidbinder Lunshur (Alliance) in the Shrine. And by Horde Voidbringer Shadzor in the Hall of Secrets of 2 Moons. They takes Charms of Good Fortune, Honor Points, and Conquest Points.

Cost was 50 Charms of Good Fortune to do the upgrade.
