The mobs in Dustwallow marsh are good for this (Murkwood treshers drop big mouth clams) but you need to get wet, drop off the crabs as well.

I found these pretty eeasy to find at the 'Swamp of sorrow' by killing the Murloc's to the East. They drop the Big-mouth Clam which contains Zesty Clam Meat 100% and sometime pearls.

I got 4 pearls in 20 Clam meat.

The nagas in the Akiris by the Bundle quest in Stranglethorn Vale drop Zesty Clam Meat nearly 100% of the time also. They are in the second cove on the west coast just north of Booty Bay.

If you are doing the Artisan fishing quest whilst doing the Artisan cooking quest, you may want to stop by in Swamp of Sorrows (whilst fishing in Misty Reed) and kill crabs on the shore to get Zesty Clam meat.

If you're doing the cooking quest and need these, just head to the east coast of Tanaris and kill all the turtles there. They drop Big-Mouth Clam, and inside is the Zesty Clam Meat! Don't have to go too far if you just aren't willing to fly to Azshara and back.

Contrary to popular belief, I found that Tanaris was in fact the best place for farming these for the fishing quest. First of all, you don't have to fly around to get all the materials, since all 3 can be found right in Tanaris.

The turtles and coast striders to the east and south east proved to have a higher drop rate for the clams (as well as turtle meat and some pearls as an added bonus) than the site leads you to believe. I had all 10 pieces of meat in less than 10 minutes. The Crocs in the area also have the giant eggs needed for the cooking quest (though the drop rate isn't so pleasant), and the cheese can be picked up in the CoT.

But, I'm sure if you need a large supply of clam meat, there are sure to be better areas. I recommend Tanaris though if you need meat for cooking and don't feel like wasting money flying around.

Southshore is definitely an awesome place to farm. In just 40 minutes I gathered 105 "Zesty Clam Meat," 34 "Small Lustrous Pearls," and 10 "Iridescent Pearls." With just 95 of those, I leveled my cooking from 146 to 202 via "Goblin Deviled Clams." Very good farm!

Zesty Clam Meat is easily farmed in Eastern Azshara. I was leveling cooking and fishing and caught quite a few clams with the Meat inside of them.

Stats: 311 fishing with +75 lure.

Around 66.90 in Azshara is good. I would guess the drop rate exceeds 75-80%. Also, they are concentrated and do not seem to aggro much.

I found that The Isle of Dread in Feralas was a much better place to get these (was farming for Golden pearls, which sells quite good on my server, Blade's Edge. 90-150G a piece). Just on the tip of the Island, there is a cave, Lord Shalzaru's Cave (Starts at 26,55), containing a lot of Hatecrest Naga's. When done with the cave, go outside and clear the short coast there, when done, cave should have been begun respawning again.

Found inside the cave is also several Mithril nodes, and a unique Naga named Lady Szallah.

The Naga's doesn't have the greatest drop rate, but there are so many it is irrelevant. I'd say that they probably have a somewhat ~35-40% drop rate, and they are literally packed inside the cave shoulder by shoulder :))

Another plus is, if you got the cooking quest from Tanaris, it is a much shorter travel, than going all the way to Azhara!

I farmed that area with a lvl 67 Retri Pally, and it goes fast. Bring big bags :)

By far the best drop rate I've found in game is off of the elite Naga's on Alcaz Island.
They are level 60 elites, with about 9k HP and are a joke for level 80's. Could happily farm them on a level 60 DK as well (although took longer, obviously).

Found that the Nagas in the Ruins of Eldarath,in Azshara have almost a 100% drop rate,at least when i was there, got all i needed and then some in a very short time for the cooking quest

Since the shattering, the steeljaw snappers in Tanaris do not drop the clams anymore.

At least not at any reasonable rate. Over 200 kills and not a single clam.

Before the shattering, the turtles had a good drop rate.

The clams are dropped from Tidal Striders by the Broken Pillar area (close to Gadgetzan) in Tanaris. Open up the clams, and you will find your Zest Clam Meat! Drop rate is decent. =)

Easiest way to get this ( since you get the quest in Tanaris ) is to go to the shore right with Gadgetzan and go in the water. Kill the mobs called Steeljaw Snapper, They will drop Big-Mouth Clam that contains Zesty Clam Meat.

EDIT: The mobs Tidal Striders that stand in the water also drop this.

+1 for this. The Tidal Striders (giants) are RIGHT there, and the fastest way to get the meat. The turtles in the area also drop them. (but not the crabs).

I've been just fishing these up from Tanaris and Thousand Needles. Helps level your fishing and you get lots of other catches that you can cook or put up on the AH.

Since Cataclysm, previous locations to farm for Big-Mouth Clams which yielded Zesty Clam Meat are too low level and drop other stuff. Go to the southern coast of the Swamp of Sorrows and loot them from Marshfin Murkdwellers (52/53 2400 health). Density and drop rate are both decent and respawn is good. I started at Misty Reed Post and cleared the entire south beach heading north and then recycled. You can also farm north beach from the lobster guys and turtles, but the rate and density did not seem as good.

Before Cataclysm, I used to take the Feathermoon ferry to Sardor Isle and farm them from Hatecrests and Lady Szallah in the caves of the Isle of Dread, but now it is completely submerged and surrounded by deep water so I could not get there.

There's a very easy way to farm this if you're not going to gather them while levelling
Head to Swamp of Sorrows and pick up Maliciously Delicious.

The quest giver gives you a potion which gives you water breathing and underwater walking (movement speed increase underwater, including while in combat, faster than normal walk speed). There's no limit to how many times you can ask for this item, so you can simply ask him repeatedly, get a stack of 20 (or more), and as these last for 15 mins each you can farm forever. The mobs (Swampshore makrura) are densely packed, respawn quickly, and with the movement speed increase picking up several at a time becomes trivial.

For me this felt significantly faster than killing tidal striders because you have to swim out to them (at least, as a goblin).

For an idea of how long it takes (and this is probably a slow time) I got 31 clams in 15 minutes.

Edit: Turns out you can keep getting the tonic after handing in the quest too.

VERY EASY TO GET:

1) Go to Swamp of Sorrows (Eastern Kingdoms). Exact place coords: 93.43.
2) Kill all the murlocs on the shore. They drop BIG-MOUTH CLAM. Open it and you will get Zesty Clam Meat.
3) You can also kill all the crabs on the same shore. They also drop BIG-MOUTH CLAM. Open it and you will get Zesty Clam Meat.

The Tidal Strider's drop rate is about 50% drop if you ask me.I just farmed some,cause i needed them to lvl up my cooking to 275 where the recipe for Clamlette Magnifique becomes green.I killed about 50 Tidal Striders and obtained 23 clams.But considering their respawn rate,they are still a fine source.

Since the loss of so many recipes... I am very thankful for Clamlette Magnifique as I am not a gold farming machine -nor a fisherman of prodigious patience. These buggers got me through most of the full range (From around 260 all the way to 300 x.X so many clams...).

Now I just need a few more levels to get through 'Ye Olde Portal' and continue cookery.

Tidal Striders in Tanaris respawn fairly fast. Drop rate was closer to 75% for me. The turtles there also drop the clams, the crabs didn't.

The clams seem to have around a 50% drop rate. The stats listed on this website must have been collected before an update was made to these mobs because they CONSTANTLY drop and the mobs respawn incredibly fast. You'll have 40 of these within a half hour...it's crazy.

I found that the tidal giants (near Gadgetstan) drop is about 30%, whether or not you had the quest to kill them.

Definitely the best place to farm Zesty Clam Meat is the Tidal Striders below Gadgetzen. The drop is about 1 in every 2-3 kills so about a 75% drop rate. Plus the giants respawn before you can even kill the whole group. :)

Got 20 in about 10 minutes farming in Tanaris shoreline.
Most of the crabs drop them, turtles drop turtle meat used for cooking as well.

The Tidal Strider giants continue to drop the bigmouth clams even after the quest that involves them. The drop rate has been on the order of 50% for me. I also got one drop from a Steeljaw Snapper turtle.
Besides the zesty clam meat, the clams will yield black pearls which now seem very highly prized on my server (hadn't checked them for a while).

People keep saying that Tanaris is the place to go because the Tidal Striders respawn faster than you can kill them. But the reason for that is that you have to wade through water or use your flying mount all the time. Slows you down.
The best place is Swamp of Sorrows. The Murlocs there on the southern part of the coast have a very good drop&respawn rate.

I think outside of the quest for the Clamlette Magnifique, if you are trying to stack up on zesty clam meat (or anything contained in clam shells for that matter) the best place to farm is in Raventusk Village in the Hinterlands. The respawn is quick, the drop rate great, and they are so close together it's a fast run through. I was able to farm there and sell turtle scales like it was going out of style while gathering the meats to cook AND skinning for leathers. Also, I don't know about other servers but on the one I play on there is rarely anyone there and much less chance of getting ganked than in the dangerous contested Tanaris.

Another good thing about this location is that these are the only mobs along the strand/shore. There will be no aggro of other mobs. It's very easy, quick, and efficient farming.

Obviously if you are doing the quest, you'll want to harvest on the coast of Tanaris since it is close to everything you are gathering.

Tidal strider in my experience are the best way to go. I got many more mats off them . I tried turtle in Raventusk had a poor experience. Azshara dose not drop them i got small clam there .
