Just an FYI you can not buy this pattern on one of your alliance toons then put it on the AH and buy it with your Horde toon. Tried would not let me :(.
Edit: Got a friend to purchase it & put it on the Neutral AH in Booty Bay & was able to purchase the pattern.

Characters on the same account can't send items via the auction house, but two *separate* game accounts linked to the same Bnet account can. Using this method, I was able to send this recipe to my horde leatherworker.

Went and bought this as a Horde player while on the quest Corner Crossing, part of the Saurfang questline. (You're disguised as a human, and you have pretty free range of Redridge Mountains area due to such.)

Just wanted to confirm it's possible for you folks wondering if flying out to Shalewind Canyon was worthwhile!
I believe this cape is still a unique color, even now, so a nice addition to your transmog collection.
