The best place to farm this is around the 42, 87 area. There are 2 camps there, you can also make some decent gold from the gray drops.

Can easily kill a lot of the elementals near the Gnome that gives quests in Badlands. Great for xp and cash from the drops.

Farming Elemental Earth is easy if you know all the places. In my own experience, here are the drop rates:

Badlands (42, 87) - 15% Highly Populated Area, Low Horde/Ally
Badlands (26, 45) - 20% Highly Populated Area, Mid-High Horde/Ally
Arathi Highlands (35, 58) - 40-50% Mid Populated Area, Mid Horde/Ally
Thousand Needles (15, 20) - 20% Low-Mid Populated, High Horde, Low Ally

These are the best places I have found, and these mobs drop Smooth Stone Chips, Lifeless Stones, and Jagged Pieces of Stone which vendor for alot, making it a nice place to farm. Good luck!

As of 2.4.1, the Rumbling exiles in Arathi still drops them. It's just a very low drop rate.

In my realm (Arathor) you can get an easy buyout of 3g, and sometimes up to 8g if you're lucky, which makes it a very good choice for farming at around lvl 40.

Currently at Arathi Highlands killing Rumbling Exiles. The drop rate is absolutely terrible. I have genuinely killed 27000xp worth of these monsters and they have dropped Elemental Earth ONCE!

Well, I decided to test the thing about a low droprate in Arathi Highlands, so I went out to the Circle of Inner Binding to kill the earth elementals there, and from clearing out the area I came up with 6 elemental earths. Not too bad I would have to say.

Well,
i have just spent the last hour in arathi highlands. I have been famring for all the elements in the circles. and in this past hour have dropped 10 waters, 12 earths, 8 fires and 9 airs. Not too bad i must say. Changing from circle to circle give them time to spawn and going through them again. I am definately going into there again. :)

i have spent a little over an hour on my 65 pally, farming earth elementals in Arathi Highlands (35.9, 57.6). i've picked up 9. i ran the outer circle and then the inner. spent a couple minutes waiting for them to respawn. i think blizzard needs to raise the drop rate. although it is a great spot for solid stone and deeprock salt. i picked up 40 solid stone and 21 deeprock salt. you should also pick up enough junk to cover your repair bill.

Long story short, I needed to level my JC but the prices of Elemental Earth were so inflated (20g per!) that I had to resort to farming the mats myself.

In just under an hour I was able to farm 12 Earths off of FIVE different spawn areas of the earth elementals in the Badlands.

Heads up to anyone coming here to find this mat for leveling Jewelcrafting, according to the Wowwiki guide to economical leveling. Good luck. This is NOT an economical thing to level on. I spent 2 hours only getting 7 elemental earth, gave up and checked the AH purchasing 4 when it takes 60 elemental earth to go 30 levels in JC. Granted 30 levels isn't bad for 1 type of thing made but, you can get the levels an easier way gathering EASIER mats like I did. The drop rate is ridiculous even after Wrath went live.

The single best place to do this is the Badlands. I (lvl 56 Holy Priest) asked my friend (lvl 73 Frost Mage) to help me farm these. My friend went to Silithus and I toughed it out near Kargath. My predictions were right:

Easier to kill means more opportunities means more elemental earths. Early into it, I had acquired about 11 within 30 minutes while my friend only managed 9. I'm currently packing 25. Just go slightly east of Kargath and farm them there. You've got several nice mining and herbalism spots amongst the Lesser and regular Rock Elementals.

Also, Arathi isn't recommended because the concentration of elementals there is rather limited. It's better if you're trying to gather different elements, but worse if you're trying to focus on only one. In Badlands, I got to play ring around the rosy, killing things on the cliffs then moving all the way to the cave, mining any mithril, iron or gold that came my way (a fair amount of gold, at that), and then by the time I came back around to the cliffs the mobs had begun to respawn.

Did Blizzard nerf the drop rate or something? I have killed loads of regular, lesser and greater rock elementals and only gotten about 3 of these. I'm disappointed. =(

One dropped off of a Rock Elemental today and auctionator said its worth 16g in the AH. I had just ran a scan to collect prices so it looks like the drop rate HAS been lowered.

Badlands would definitely be the way to go, a lot of elementals in the mountain valleys in the southern region around to the north west. Pretty decent drop rate for the elemental earth, found 6 in about 15-20 mins.

i just did killed them all there and got in total 2
then i waited for the new respans after killing some hordies :P:P and got again 2-3 so the drop rating is still 11% from those mobs :P

Made two complete circuits of the Badlands areas noted by Koragos above and got a total of 13. I prefer Badlands simply because there is no down time whilst waiting for respawns. Also you might run in to Rumbler, a rare spawn around Dustbelch Grotto.

I've been circuling around north-west near Kargath, south-west near Dustbelch Grotto and along the hillside towards east 4 times now. Gathered 3 elemental earth. And if you ask me, I don't think thats good drop-rate. But ofcourse, it just may be my regular bad luck.

Today I spent 30 minutes in the Arathi Highlands, Circle of Inner Binding to be specific (just SW of the Refuge Point) and I found it to be quite successful. There are about 20 rumbling exiles dispersed around a central area and they are quite easy to pick off one by one if you're solo. Here is what I farmed:
1 Citrine
31 Lifeless Stone
11 Smooth Stone Chip
26 Solid Stone
17 Jagged Piece of Stone
11 Deeprock Salt
6 Elemental Earth
1 Forest Hoop

Lvl 51 mage: Killed all of the mobs in Arathi Highlands; no drops.

Traveled to Badlands, killed all of the mobs near Kargath; 5 Elemental Earth's in about 5 minutes (full clear of that area).

Just tried farming for a few of these in Badlands after the Shattering. Plenty of Rock Elementals, but it has been over an hour and I've only found three Elemental Earth... I need four. Either the drop rate has been lowered or I have very terrible luck.

Badlands - Scar of the Worldbreaker(34.51) got some Rock Elementals wandering in it and they appear to drop Elemental Earth ( it took 20min to get one though...)

Well, the cataclysm update appears to have erased those badlands farming areas from the map, nothing but dragon kin and cats now. What a waste. That area now officially sucks

Tried to go get some in thousand needles, got one on the second elemental, nothing since. (pain in the butt to get to now though with the gate up on the entrance to mulgor) May have to resort to the poorly populated arathi highlands.

I finally got fed up with the low drop rate of elemental earth in Badlands so I decided to try Frostshard Rumblers in Winterspring. In about 35 minutes I got 12 Elemental Earth, 6 Core of Earth and 3 Essence of Earth. Drop rate seems to be just as low as in Badlands, however the area is much smaller and the elementals are closer to each other. Respawn time for the elementals is also extremely fast and often I got new spawn on top of the one I just killed.

The Elementale Tellurico del Deserto in Silithus seems to be the elemental to farm for Terra Elementale. Respawn rate is decent and steady.

30 minutes of farming:
11 - Terra Elementale
13 - Essenza di Terra
7 - Nucleo di Terra

If you're farming for engineering pets/mats this place is a honey-hole. If you loop around the mountain and go ham on the Assaltatore della Polvere they have the same drop rate for Aria Elementale, Soffio di Vento and Essenza d'Aria. This is a good way to kill time waiting for Elementale Tellurico del Deserto to respawn and an even better way to get the mats for Trasformatore di Verargento! WTS Yeti Meccanico Pacifico!

Found a pretty great place for these. A friend and I were farming them and he started in Badlands and he got about 30 min into and I went exploring into Stonetalon Mountains and found a goldmine of Raging Earth Elementals inside of The Deep Reaches. In about 15 min I looted 10 Earth Elementals and he had only gotten 6. There are two ways to get into here, for Alliance it is at Northwatch Expedition Base Camp; in the South Eastern corner of the map. For Horde there is an entrance at Krom'gar Fortress. It is full of elementals and they re-spawn immensely fast. Most of the time when I was heading back for another round I was able to kill the ones I had just killed. Its a great spot from what I have found.

The best place I have found to farm elemental earth post - cataclysm is in the Scar of the Worldbreaker in the Badlands. The Rock Elementals are around lvl 46 and there are around 20 of them along it at intervals on a short spawn timer. It's close to Dragon's Mouth and New Kargath Flight Points too.

The drop rate is not awesome (5-9%), but they spawn fast and are all in one spot making it a simple run up and down to farm them. WATCH OUT for the 48 elite giant. He's got a ton of HPs and hits hard. just follow him at a safe distance though and you'll be fine. There are also two spots below Agmond's End where they hide up in the cliffs. Those spots are on longer spawn timers, but not far from the scar if you happen to run out. They didn't for me, but I'm only 50-ish and they were nearly my level.

I tried just about every other place in these comments and got nada, but had the two I needed in about 15 mins in Badlands.

For what it's worth, I was going for Robe of Power and had to get two of each of the lower elements, Air, Water, Fire, Earth. It was a pain, but here is what else I found:

Best place for Elemental Air is in the center of Tanaris, just above the Dunemaul Compound. There are several air elementals here, around level 46, including a named one Zakkaru <Spawn of Makkari>. Supposedly he has one of the highest drop rates at 10+% and he respawns in less than a minute since he is a quest mob. He didn't drop anything for me, but two of his many adds did.

Best place for Elemental Water is the Golakka Hot Springs in Un'Goro Crater. The level 50 -ish Steaming Fury drop both Globes of Water and Elemental water. They respawned before I cleared them all out. It took two runs around the pools to get both that I needed, about 10 mins, tops.

I bought Elemental Fire on the AH because it was 35 silver. I think this is because it drops in the Stockades from the elemental side now.

Located deep in a cave. Entrance is 72.0,78.6 at the Northwatch Expedition Camp. The layout of the cave is nearly identical to the Netherwing mines in the outlands, for those that have ground that faction. Unfortunately, my luck is completely different. I farmed for 30 mins and got zero elemental earth.

Excellent post, I went exactly where you said and got exactly what I needed almost immediately. Good that it took a while, too, I have herbalism and mining, both jumped about 40 or 50 points and I got piles of plants and metals and gems. One thing though, the center of Un'goro Crater is Fire Plume Ridge, there are many fire elementals there, I got my elemental fire from them. I also got Essence of Fire and Heart of Fire, and somewhere along the way one of my victims was kind enough to drop a Core of Earth as well. All in all, a most profitable bit of farming. Thank you.

As of 4.2 the Desert Rumbler in Silithus still has the best drop-rate for Elemental Earth.

1 hour of farming:
17 - Elemental Earth
14 - Core of Earth

As for Badlands, that was a complete waste of time.

I farmed the Desert Rumbler in Silithus for the Elemental Earth, was there roughly 90mins or so.
Level 52-53 Discpline PvP spec'd Priest, this is what I got; (stopped when I got 13 Elemental Earth).

Circle of Inner Binding, Arathi Highlands. 20 minutes 6 elemental earth. Respawn, about 5 minutes. Seems faster if you loot trash drops as well.

85 Arcane Mage. Rumbling Exiles lvl 29ish.

Been in demand of farming quite a lot of these for yetis among other, I decided to check, as many others, comments on where to go; but I couldn't really find many that suited me or worked too great.

Note; Locations and important information is highlighted with this font, the bold one. Zones and Items will be shown as links so you can easily check them if you are unclear where the location is present. Notes will be underlined.

So here's my own input on where I agree the best place would be.

Commentary per Zone

Badlands:

I tried farming Rock Elementals just above New Kargath. Badlands Map

I farmed for about 20minutes (Roughly 3 respawn routes) and found myself having very poor droprate. - Bear in mind that individual dropping isn't accurate, but this is what I got atleast.

Note; Scale is my way to determine if it's a place worth farming at, 1 being worst and 10 being excellent.

I then, disappointed with the drop rates, moved on towards Silithus. (as I was in need of Elemental Airs anyways) where I farmed at the Crystal Vale people familiar with Thunderfury, will know that this is the place you battle Thunderaan in North-Western Silithus.

I found the drop rates improved here, and considering I also got a couple of Elemental Air and Essence of Air. Which are quite expensive on this server tbh, it's a quite worthy place to farm.

Comment; I know if you look at the values, the difference in loot per kill isn't major when compared to Badlands, but what makes this place better is the fact that there's a larger amount of enemies and the respawn time isn't quite as bad, and even if it was, there would be enemies that you can kill while waiting. (Air Elementals right next to them). If you are an engineer trying to earn money trough Tranquil Mechanical Yeti pets, this would be an ideal place to farm both Elemental Airs and Elemental Earths for Truesilver Transformer simultaneously.

Allthough, I'll state another option in the final comment at the end of the this input.

Even after giving this place however, I did not yet feel satisfied and read about another place in the cave which can be entered from Northwatch Expedition Base Camp in Stonetalon Mountains. It's the alliance camp where the original Stonetalon Mountain's entrance used to be, in South-Eastern Stonetalon Mountains.

I tried to farm here yet for another 30minutes, and came to this conclusion.

Not worth it. In comparison to Silithus where you can farm other creatures among the stone elementals for gold or additional mats, this one pales.

Comment; There really isn't much to comment on, it's not the worst place but what mainly ruined it for me was 1. the inability to quick-mount and run back to the start to continue killing the freshly spawned ones. Which slowed it down considerably. And the other thing is the fact that the only material it has a chance to drop is the Elemental Earth which made it feel less rewarding to kill them.

And then finally, I tried out the final one on the list which I had heard quite some praise about, and not for naught as I got to realise. It was the small mountain just above Mazthoril and to the right of Lake Kel'theril in Winterspring.

Here I spent roughly 50minutes farming and will probably return for later runs, and those are the stats as followed -

Comment; This place had by far the best average drop rate and whats even better is that it can drop all 3 materials that any other mob in the list could. But what truly made it great was the fact that it was a small area but plenty of enemies, they weren't spread out and you never found yourself having to wait for them to respawn, whenever I had cleared it of mobs I always returned to another part of the mountain to find 2 or 3 already respawned, and when they died, others had respawned. Meaning you can constantly kill without having to waste your time waiting.

Verdict;

Winterspring is by far the best place to farm individual materials if you aren't after other stuffs. You can get deeprock salt from them by mining aswell.

It's just the fact that you never have to wait for respawns, the drop rate being good, and that you can easily move around, and that there's a town with Auction House, Blacksmith etc. just above it, making it a time conserving place to farm.

ALERT! Engineers; While I said it would be a good place to choose Silithus for simultaneous farming of Elemental Earth and Elemental Air, the other option is quickly farm togheter all elemental air you want from Silithus and then instantly move to this place instead, that's what I did and found it most efficient.

I was leveling my engineering and chose Gnome; so I needed 4 elemental earth for my gadgetzan teleporter. There were none being put on the AH for days so I decided I needed to farm it. Reading through the comments I decided to try the Raging Earth Elementals in Stonetalon. Took about 15 minutes and got the 4th elemental earth on the 58th kill. To get to them, simply fly to the northwatch expedition base camp or the krom'gar fortress (depending on faction) and each has a faction specific mine entrance nearby.

Tried the Desert Rambler in Silithus. 59 kills gave 4 Elemental Earth, 2 Core of Earth and 2 Essence of Earth.

Following Cutsforhugs' Nov2011 advice, I went to Winterspring and the area just north of Mazthoril and east (to right, not left) of Lake Kel'theril to farm lvl 51-52 Frostshard Rumblers. Did not keep stats but in 15 minutes I collected 6 Elemental Earth along with 2 Cores of Earth. I would guess an Elemental Earth every 7-10 kills.

If you're a miner, you can also collect Deeprock Salt and a occasional ore from the crusher corpses.

I felt it was effective for farming Elemental Earth.

(I'm writing this in Cataclysm, 4.3)

I went to Winterspring to farm for Leatherworking, it was great. Go to a small mountain, coordinates are 61:59.
The mobs you're looking for are called Frostshard Rumbler, I'd say every 7-8 Rumbler drops an Elemental Earth.
The respawn times are great, if you just go around the mountain killing, the mobs on the other side of the mountain will have respawned by the time you get around. Often, after killing a mob, another one would spawn right on top of it immediately.

Not sure how long it's been the case, but current patch is 5.2 and you can now get these from elementals in the Stockades instance in Stormwind. The right hand side of the instance has Lord Overheat and it's pretty fast to get a few of these as needed.

I could have sworn I used to get a bunch of these in Molten Core runs I did for xmog and such. I cleared the entire raid and got 4 elemental earth.

I've been having trouble finding this and all of the comments either say that the drop rates are nerfed or something, or they aren't from this expansion. So...What I mean to get at, is there any good drop points that I could know of?

WoD Patch 6.1 -
Winterspring - I killed rock elementals on the small mountain just north of Mazorthil, just Southeast of Lake Kel'Theril. Fast respawn rate, I got 2 Elemental Earth, a Core of Earth and 1 Essence of Earth in 13 kills. (I only needed the 2 elementals so that's where I stopped).
Compared to a nearly full clear of Molten Core for only 2 Elemental Earth, I think Winterspring was easier.

I found Elementale della Roccia and killed 11 , so far got 3x Elemental Earth.mind that i used trial account and lvl 20.I don't know it might work on Paid account or not.

I read through the comments here and was well-served by them. However, I found better success farming earth elementals in the Southern Barrens while completing the quest 'The Disturbed Earth' just west of Bael Modan. In the five minutes it took to complete the quest I recovered 5 elemental earths. The respawn rate for mobs is generous, and apparently, they hold a high drop rate.
