Don't be looking for this item to be in the druid of the flame's loot table. It's actually a small item that spawns next to the corpse!

Actually:
- you have to recruit The Shadow Wardens with the quest The Shadow Wardens;
- you have to kill Druid of the Flame near the core from quest Solar Core Destruction, not that one Druid of the Flame in a bird form. :)
- you have to look around of that druid's body and find Dried Acorn, accept the quest The Mysterious Seed and return it to Avrilla; she will unlock some new quest for you. :)

Actually:
- you have to recruit The Shadow Wardens with the quest I Custodi dell'Ombra;
- you have to kill Druido delle Fiamme near the core from quest La distruzione del nucleo solare, not that one Druido delle Fiamme in a bird form. :)
- you have to look around of that druid's body and find Ghianda Essiccata, accept the quest Il seme misterioso and return it to Avrilla; she will unlock some new quest for you. :)

As I totally agree on the other points that you mentioned, actually you don't have to do the quest La distruzione del nucleo solare and then kill a Druido delle Fiamme.
I got the Ghianda Essiccata when I was on the quest I Custodi ci osservano and when I killed the Druido delle Fiamme that was following and attacking the NPC that helped me to capture a Druido delle Fiamme for that quest (by the way that was a good way to get an item that start a quest, I liked that, kudos to Blizzard).

It seems that user Marloss is totally right (that I Custodi dell'Ombra is the only requirement and any kill of Druido delle Fiamme will spawn Ghianda Essiccata next to the corpse of that NPC - if you haven't done the quest already of coarse):

Can you get this everyday or only once?

No, it isn't a daily quest.

It is the equivalent quest Ho... bisogno... d'acqua... for Druids of the Talon found at Molten Flow and that reward you 5 Mark of the World Tree at the end of the quest chain.

But upon completing it and the following quests (after Il seme misterioso the following La stagione della semina and La piccola Pianta Sferzante quests); 3 daily quest will be available from Avrilla (you will be able to see and take only one of them every day):

You don't even have to kill the druid yourself. I arrived at the solar core with a yellow exclamation mark already waiting for me from someone who killed a druid.
