I think the mount will look exactly like the Bloodtalon Thrashers in the troll starting zone, Its armor/ skin is the reverse of the original AND that makes it the same color as all the other raptors that were in the original lvl 60 version.

I am even happier that they aren't making the original mounts obtainable - this means if you managed to get the mounts before the zones were removed, you can now earn 2 (3) more to add to your stable!

I would like to say that Mandokir and Kilnara are definitely farmable by two people (preferably tank and hybrid dps/healer). My bf and I kill them a few times every week hoping to see the mounts drop. We run prot paladin - shadow/disc priest.

On Mandokir as long as you kill Ohgan every time he spawns (stuns are great for this too if you have them), don't stand in aoe and get in a decent amount of damage between decapitates you don't need to heal the tank at all. If tank gets decapitated I use dispersion to tide me over, or pop shadow fiend/fade. You only need to last 4-5 seconds before tank can get ressed and taunt off you. It's a marathon kill because you spend a lot of time dying and ressing/self buffing as shadow piest, might be easier for melee dps.

On Kilnara, I switch to disc spec. It's pretty straight forward, tank pulls one pack of panthers at a time, dps them down, dispel her magic debuff, get out of waves, win. Pretty much just like the regular strategy for full groups, just takes longer because of lower dps.

The trash pull directly before her room is actually more difficult than the boss herself. We use mind control on a blood drinker, get it killed, then just spam heals on tank, dispel tank and mobs. Try to kill/CC the priest in that group first if you can because he gives the rest of the mobs a buff that makes them deal significantly more damage to the tank, sometimes two-shotting him if I'm not quick enough on dispels. Being a priest with offensive single target and mass dispel is extremely handy for this, but other classes should be able to figure out a strategy for this pull too.

This mount is currently solo farmable by an 85 blood DK on live as of this patch.

Necessary talents:

- Purgatorio
- Aspirazione Mortale

Necessary glyphs:

-

Necessary gear:

- Teschio Marcio
- Fiamma del Profondo
- Both trinkets macro'ed into army of the dead as both of these particular trinkets can be used at the same time
- About 400+ ilevel of tank gear, preferrably reforged into avoidance stats
- Swordshattering runeforge

Necessary buffs:

- Str flask
- Kings drums
- Avoidance food (dodge or parry)
- Runescroll of fortitude
- Golemblood potion

Directions:

Summon a risen ally, cast bone shield and pull the boss. Your cast sequence will be outbreak, death strike, death strike, heart strike, heart strike. Then cast Dancing Rune Weapon, Icebound Fortitude, Empower Rune Weapon, wait 1-2 seconds, cast vampiric blood, use both trinkets and cast Army of the Dead. When Mandokir Decapitates you, you will be in a Purgatory state with about 1M damage to heal up out of. Death Siphon twice and rune tap, this should heal you out of Purgatory. You will then have so much vengeance that you will more or less 2-shot the boss and he will die long before the next Decapitate.

The reason this works is the currently somewhat broken scaling of Vengeance for tanks at level 85, and the mechanic of Decapitate. Decapitate does 15M damage before mitigation. By stacking cooldowns, the damage of the ability is successively reduced:

- Icebound Fortitude 50%
- Bone shield 20%
- Army of the Dead with maximum avoidance stats from runeforge, gear, DRW, trinket on-use, and str to parry conversion (pot, flask, kings, str trinket) 75-80%

This results in Decapitate hitting you for roughly 800K-1.2M damage depending how much avoidance you have for Army of the Dead. You then gain vengeance based on the unimitigated 15M damage value of the ability, resulting in you having about 1.2M attack power, causing Death Siphon with glyphed Vampiric Blood up to heal you for about 550K per cast, getting you out of Purgatory.

A prot paladin can also solo this boss much more trivially as Ardent Defender simply causes them not to die regardless of gear, they then also have the same amount of AP from Vengeance and also 2-shot the boss.

EDIT: As of patch 5.4, in 539 gear, it is better off to just maintain aggro and use DPS CDs and burn him down, pet doesn't need to tank. Killed him in 15 seconds.

Another Edit: If you really think you can, I pet tanked and still managed to kill him today before he even got a chance to cast decapitate, in 561 gear, kill took 8 seconds.

105 kills and still no mount.
FINAL EDIT: Got it after 145 kills. Truly a beauty and worth the effort.

I have soloed the boss that drops this mount with a BM hunter in 472 lfr gear.

The key to the fight is to place a snake trap ON bloodlord mandokir about 5 seconds before he uses decepitation, so that the fight does not reset while you are being ressurected.

Other than that, the fight goes normally with you pet tanking (I used a tenacity specced corehound)

I reccomend using your CDs after you get decepitated atleast once, so that you may stack it with the damage and health increasing buff.

I would also reccomend using feign death whenever he uses bloodletting, it prevents damage and him healing himself.

Due to your deaths from decepitate, then the addon DBM is useless, because it does not know how to react to your deaths. If you can do a good amount of dps, then once he reaches 20%, you can just dps since he uses decepitation less.

Goodluck to all mount farmers out there!

EDIT: As of 5.3, if you have your pet out he will only Decapitate you ONE TIME. After that, you can just dps, and not worry about the decapitates, as he will not cast it anymore. No need to even kill Ohgan anymore, as you will not die from decapitate.

I may get downvoted, but i have genuinly farmed this on 5 characters a day for about 2 months, incredibly the mount just won't come off of Mandokir. I've had the panther twice, which fortunately i won one of! But no Raptor, it appears mythological. However i will not stop my farming, its rather intense. That gushing heart feeling i get stays, so i will continue to do it. I just wanted to say that this is by far one of the rarest ive encountered in my farming days.

Edit: As of patch 5.3 he will never use decapitate on his main target and hence this is easily doable by any class.

For any level 90s looking to solo him for the mount (or some other loot...), he will still use his decapitate which will still oneshot you. In order to solo him you will need to in some way avoid at the very least the first decapitate with some form of immunity (Bubble, iceblock or similar effects).

He will cast the first decapitate 10 seconds into the fight and the repeating every 30 seconds after that, so use your first immunity ~8-9 seconds into the fight and then cancel it after the decapitate, and you will then have to use your second one 30 seconds later, or have him dead by that time.

In order to have him dead before the second decapitate you will need to do 4.8 million damage over 40 seconds (120k DPS), which should be doable by most classes if you have a bit of raid gear. Just remember you will need an immunity effect.

If you do not have an immunity (or can use something like a hunter snake trap to cheese past it) you will most likely need to bring a friend for doing it, at least until the next expansion after Mists of Pandaria.

61 attempts still no mount. O-o.. panther dropped after about 12 tries... But dang did not expect this raptor to take this long and still no drop.

After farming this for almost 2 years straight (since the dungeon versions came out) It finally droppped for me on January. I used to do it many times a day, when you could queue for random Zandalari, and then run it once a day with 4 characters, but it was only until I 2 manned with my wife. I had dropped 3 times before but other people got it. We used 2 Windwalker monks but it can also be done by Ret/Prot Pally and Rogue (our other 90s). I maintain that the drop chance seems to be very low still. I must have killed Mandokir 500+ times only to see it 4 times... doing basic math/probability, thats less than 1%...

Edit: Bliz changed it. He no longer uses his one-shot ability on players he is currently targeting, so he'll never use it on you when soloing him. Thus, it is now very possible to win easily.

With 5.3 it's easy now to kill Mandokir for everyone without Decapitate.
I've done 2 Kills with my Rogue and 2 with my Ret and I was a lucky Bastard on 4th Kill.
Got the Onyxia Mount on that day too.

Just too lucky sometimes.

Can anyone confirm this mount drop in 5.3. I've been farming it on 6 chars from 5.3 and since cata on my mage using iceblock for decapitate and haven't seen it, along with the panther mount.

I do not know about you, but in 4.1 I did this boss at least 50 times ( did not know about the mount, new player) then on 4.3 I learned it exists, and began to farm it with a couple friends (another 40-50 tries), then since the begining of MOP until 5.3 I did it with a warrior buddy like another 40-50 times, then sinces 5.3 I have done it solo at least 56 times (two chars 4 weeks) and I have never seen it, even the drop.....my warrior friend went to solo a month ago and he got it on the 4th F*ck*ng run, and today a friend went to solo and he got it on the 5th run.......I guess luck is luck (a bloody b*tch), will keep trying (the pourpose of the comment is to inform that it could drop in any try for anyone, and to QQ a little bit.....)

Weird Glitch on Mandokir I am a 496 blood dk I ended up fighting him normally, but he never dismounted and he still summoned oghan. Didn't fight any other bosses but him. Hopefully it keeps doing this, Made it super easy to beat him and he didn't use decapitate once! Don't know if this is a glitch but it was helpful. No mount but this was my first attempt.

I finally got this after a year worth of farm, now I'll only go there to slay the Priestess for the panther.

A tip to hunters is to either use a snake trap to prevent the decapitate. Or just dismiss your pet :D

I noticed that they had changed this boss fight recently so that he won't one-shot you if you are soloing it, so I decided to give it a try. First try was successful, average loot. Second try, the mount drops... I was really shocked because I was running the dungeon for the panther for quite a while and couldn't solo Bloodlord Mandokir, so I had never tried. Today, I have a Brand new Raptor. For all of you that are farming this, keep it up! There is still hope!

Edit: The Scuttler's Shell is now only usable in Pandaria.

If you are 90 and farming for this mount still then a very handy thing to have is a Guscio di Frettolino. They drop from the crabs on the Timeless Isle and are usable outside the island. By using this item you can easily sneak past most mobs. Saves time and makes the runs less of a headache.

This finally just dropped for me on my Rogue while soloing him. Took me around 70-80 tries spread out on different characters. Definately worth the farm! Was the last mount that i needed to complete the ZG collection aswell! Don't give up fokes. It will drop eventually!

Iv'e been farming the two ZG mounts for about 25 days now. A week ago I was lucky and got the Swift Zulian Panther(Currently use it all the time on my horde characters). Been trying to get this too for my alliance characters but no luck yet. Still trying everyday!

I want to get this for sentimental reasons. I just did the questline starting with Un Cucciolo di Codafrusta and ending with Una vecchia amica, and I feel like this is the "mount version" of my hatchling.

So like most people I've been soloing multiple instances for various bosses and have put together some statistical likelihood that I want to share with you all so that you can use this information as well to your own bidding.

So I'm farming these mounts on a day basis

Now I want to look at the statistical likelyhood of NOT seeing any of the above drop, we use an inverted value for the above (1% turns to 99%, 1.5% to 98.5%). The calculation is as followed

0.989 x 0.984 x 0.99 x 0.9906 x 0.9923 x 0.992 = 93.94% Chance of none of the above mounts dropping. (6.06% chance of at least one mount dropping)

I improve this by running this 7 times a week = 0.9394^7 = 64.56% Chance of no mounts dropping
OR run this 21 times a week with 3 alts = 0.9394^21 = 26.91% Chance of no mounts (73.1% chance of at least 1 mount!)

Wednesday I also include 3 weekly mounts which include

I must say that I was quite disappointed today when I realized that a patch must've ripped out his vocal cords. The only sounds he makes is when you first mount up. Then he goes mute.

EDIT: Actually I just noticed that it's ALL raptors and is a known issue as stated here.

I have only recently decided to start collecting mounts, farming this and a few other dungeons for the past week or so...

The first day or so when I looked on the dungeon journal, I saw the two mounts (Armored Razzahi Raptor and Swift Zulian Panther) that can drop in Zul'Gurub, then they disappeared! Does anyone know if these have been removed recently?

Why is this mount showing up as a drop on normal difficulty in the dungeon journal? I assumed it was a heroic only drop? All the other Cataclysm mounts are listed as dropping on normal too. Surely this is a mistake, excepting the Vitreous Stone Drake.

Confused -- at level 100 is there some special mechanic I need to know and do to get the mount to drop, or do I just kill him? I never did this instance when it was created, I pre-date it and did it a long time ago when it was a raid. Will the mount drop if I just kill him, or do I have to do something else to trigger the drop?

I'm not sure if it's wow rng or what. But every holiday I usually hop around Azeroth doing whatever is needed either to level a toon, grab a new pet or new toy from holiday vendor. Well midsummer started yesterday so I grabbed my level 93 monk and started running around getting the Bon fires. On my way I stopped into ZG while in the zone just to give it a go. (I've ran it so many times to count on other toons) I headed right for the boss, speed run over bridge, ignore tiki God, and keep going to the boulders, avoid them and run right up to boss with all trash still angry at me and just let em have it. Than I go collect the loot not really looking too hard and I see the raptor in my bag. If anyone else has had similar luck on low drop chances during holiday events. I'd be curious to see if it is a legit thing or not. Previous to this on former holidays I've gotten Raven Lord during a children's week and Drake of North Wind during Love is in the air.

Bought Champion's Honor so I could get the Black War Raptor the night before pre-patch. Then I get this thing after only two attempts at Zul'Gurub... Welp, think I just used up my luck for the month.

Do we have to make the raptor spawn, or just 1-shot this boss to get the mount? I was just fooling around and killing him slowly and he made a raptor spawn to help him. I didn't remember this from the old days before I started farming for the mount. Then I got worried and thought to myself... "what if I've been doing this wrong this whole time?"

Here's an "exploit" that allows, I think, multiple attempts at this mount in one day, that worked for me at 110. Drop the boss (and the other mount boss, if you're missing both mounts). Then go to Jin'Do without killing the big trolls needed to destroy the chains. Then just stand there (but don't die, though I'm unsure if living is necessary), maybe alt-esc-ing out to search Wowhead for how to escape the instance once in the spirit world with no big trolls available (exit sealed, hearths interrupted by attacks, no way to die unless you just sit there and take miniscule damage for many minutes). Eventually a timer expires (5-10 min? Wasn't counting) and you get ported to the outside of the instance. Reenter, and it's a fresh start, mount bosses back up. Caveats: I say "exploit" because the time spent waiting to get booted diminishes the utility of this approach; I have done this exactly once so i don't know if it's repeatable or a glitch.

I finally got this mount after 585 attempts, my only tip is that it is ~20 sec faster to start from dalaran, take the portal to karazhan, and use your dalaran stone once you've killed Bloodlord Mandokir than parking in front on the dungeon and walking back everytime, there might be a hearthstone location that is faster but I use my alts stones for other mounts that harder/further to get to.

Why, why, why? I'm seeing people post hundreds of attempts with no luck. I'm at 87 runs on 6 toons. Why am I doing this? I already have a raptor.

After 205 attempts, it dropped last night :D I think the trick is to just expect it to take way more than that many attempts (I tried to stay realistic and expect 300+ lol) and you'll be pleasantly surprised as it drops sooner....

8 alts per day, 467 kills now. According to the Binomial distribution theory, assuming the drop rate is 0.7% as the data shown.

Every time, i have a chance of 0.993 not lucky to loot the mount. Then after 467 kills, the chance of not looting this mount is 0.993^467 which is 0.00376 -> 3.76%. Good job Blizzard! I will update when i get this mount.

Pantera Zuliana dropped from Gran Sacerdotessa Kilnara after couple of attempts ...

I have some Alt's between Alliance and Horde farming for mounts ... I am a mount collector!

So basically I will start the instance killing the first boss Gran Sacerdote Venoxis and then make my way to Signore del Sangue Mandokir.

Nothing special here, just one shot kill the boss.

269 total victories.

Added Raptor Razzashi Corazzato - Signore del Sangue Mandokir.

569 attempts. Starting to believe this is genuinely bugged and that it wasn't fixed alongside Zulian Panther. Seen lots of attempts in the hundreds by others. Also keeping in mind that I got the panther at 19 attempts, and this one just refuses to drop. 20 characters a day. I just wanna stop farming this dungeon.

Edit: 633 attempts and counting. No sign of a drop in sight.

Update: On the fateful day of the 17th of September 2020, after over a month of farming the Armored Razzashi Raptor, the 7th attempt of the day. Dangerpanda the Beloved, entered the walls of Zul'Gurub for what felt like the 1000th time.
He ventured down the steps of the entrance, and set on his journey to Bloodlord Mandokir. Down the grassy path, and across the rope bridge. To say the least, the anticipation was non-existent. Time after time, dissapointment struck. After thousands of boulders dodged, this was the last time he would climb this inclining obstacle. The boulderthrower at the top was murdered in cold blood, and the shaman efficiently made his way up the path to defeat his enemies. He downed the sorcerers and warriors that stood in his path, then proceeded to cross the courtyard towards Mandokir himself. The Bloodlord had indeed spilt much blood, of his own, in the quest for this epic raptor. Dangerpanda took his weapon, and swung it at the Bloodlord. While he was not aware of this himself, this would be the last murder Dangerpanda would have to commit within Zul'Gurub.

As Bloodlord Mandokir fell to the ground in a heap, being quickly struck down by the mace of the shaman, Dangerpanda started to look through his assortment of loot. It was only a moment before he saw it, the Armored Razzashi Raptor. Dangerpanda was ironically shocked, given his shaman status. The mount sat there, ready to be earned and ridden. It took him a moment to regain composure, but he stood up and knew what he had to do. He right clicked the mount in his bags, and earned it with pride. 660 attempts of pain. Pain was all he had known.

It was time. He rode the mount, off to Throne of Thunder, because after 150 attempts he still didn't @#$%ing have Horridon.

I obtained this today after >860 kills (rarity reset and not all were tracked). I was beginning to suspect that characters who didn't damage the boss weren't eligible since rarity didn't track their kills, but the character that looted it did no damage to the boss (running it across 3 accounts).

Best of luck. Bear in mind that those with kills much lower or greater than the mean are more impelled to visit the site to celebrate or complain, so you won't be seeing a representative sample.

While I think this story is interesting and funny, I write it knowing full well that it probably isn't very helpful and may make some readers hate me.

3/23/2021, 12:30am: I've run a lot of M+ dungeons this week not getting any of the loot I want (despite having my 'Yankee Candle' spa-scent lucky-loot-candle lit for most of it) and I'm bored sitting around Oribos (for those of you from several years in the past when Zul'Gurub released, Oribos is a place where dead (alive?) people go to run and jump around in circles. That's literally it.). I've played WoW on and off almost since it's inception but as a casual player I haven't done all the dungeons and raids so I decided to randomly pick one to see what it's like and I chose Zul'Gurub. I usually only go to old content for transmog stuff but I was extra bored and wanted to take in some of the lore and this was a close enough flight from Stormwind. I auto-attack kill a random boss, get to the main one in the middle on the temple, realize he's a ghost so I guess I gotta kill the others first, do that (including the one you need archaeology for... good thing boredom led to archaeology in the past), go back to the middle one, eventually figure out to get the big dudes to smash the chains for me, and kill it. Woo. I go back to the start of the instance and vendor off the loot I got (including a few new transmog swords and whatnot). It's about time for bed so I hearthstone back to Oribos and the story ends.... except it can't because my OCD won't let me logoff with 98% durability. So I find a repair npc and notice something in the bottom-right of his window... a green dinosaur head. I go to the buyback tab and realize I should probably get back this 'Armored Razzashi Raptor' mount, which I promptly look up on Wowhead. I then smile and nod at my lucky candle and blow it out.

And that my friends is the story of how for the very first time in the instance (achievement to prove it), without even knowing a mount dropped from one of the dudes there, I vendored and un-vendored a mount that, from some comments I've seen here, has tortured many players. My only hope is that those players will take solace in knowing that this has surely used up all of my lucky candle's remaining magical powers for the future and they can revel in that schadenfreude.

I am way over 1000 attempts at this mount. I've been farming for 7 months now, started with 5 chars a day and am now at 9 chars a day. There is no way the drop rate is 0.7%. I made a ticket about this and the GM replied: The drop rate is "very low" so it's possible that I wouldnt get it after all this time. I never farmed any other mount this much.

This mount must have really bad droprate in comparison to Pantera Zuliana. Dropped for me after farming daily with 8 chars after 416 kills.
Panther dropped after 17 kills, I kept complaining about the raptor in guild chat to the point that half of the guild tried their luck with Raptor and with no luck but around 10 people got Panther (one guy even twice ...). I seriously think the "fix" to droprate didn't really improve it or it was at some point rolled back by mistake. Good luck with farming, this one may require some time :)

I had better luck in WarMode. Not as many people farming it in wm. After 1300 attempts (almost a year of daily attempts with 11 toons) I switched to wm and got it in 26 attempts after I switched them all over. Either dumb luck or maybe a strategy. Can't hurt.

550 kills, according to rarity - 99.60% posiblity my ass, still going. Did a while 8 toons daily as I was tired of this piss. Got over 500 started again on 22 alts daily only because I saw highest kill count in comments 830 and htought: "Hey, I am not that far behind....".
Was faster before 9.2.5 if I am correct, where you could leave character at last boss, relog, and next day just choose to leave dungeon and go again, but now you have to go outside after kill, otherwise, next day you log in, you get ported to your HS location. Pretty fun change to add some game time to people farming 0.77% (1/130 ish) drop chance mount with abnormal kill count

P.S. This is my first wowhead comment on whinning about bad rng luck, as there is that myth, you get mount after crying. I am tired of this, probably the worst experience through all game, Id rather do Korthia dailies if I would have to compare

Edit: Crying didn't help. My cursed number was 664. Damn, might go on 2 week drinking spree to celebrate this holy event! GL to rest still farming, its cancerous

Decided I wanted to hunt some transmog on my Hunter. Seen I had 0/22 for Zul'Gurub and went ahead for some transmog. I did see there were two mounts listed in this dungeon. Armored Razzashi Raptor and Swift Zulian Panther. I ignored those because I know how low drop rates are for mounts in dungeons.

Long story short. Got it first attempt. I came instantly here to see if it was a guaranteed drop or If I just got lucky.
1/1 attempts.
Now to try for the panther I guess.
