This is the new companion pet for the Enchanting profession in Cataclysm. It requires Enchanting 525 to make and is currently BoE, so it can be sold to other players.

However, this pet formula is specific to Horde, the Alliance equivalent is Magic Lamp/Magic Lamp.

Behaves similar to an Argent Tournament pet. You can trade it to Alliance via the neutral AH, but isn't obtainable by the Alliance by other means.

If you are a nameplate targeter like I am you will have difficulty with this pet, as it hovers in such a way that makes it difficult to target.

Enchanters should be able to do their mumbo jumbo on this and create a new non-combat pet: Disenchanted Lantern or No-Longer-Enchanted Lantern, if you will.

Can anyone confirm what happens if you faction transfer with one
of these in your backpack? Does it convert to the Alliance
version? Or does it stay the same?

Say I have an Alliance Enchanter that knows that version of this and faction change them to Horde, will I still have 'Magic Lamp' and then be able to learn 'Enchanted Lantern' and therefore be able to produce both on one toon, or will the pattern convert when I faction change?

This pet has an incredibly large hitbox and can easily obscure objects and make it hard to click/loot them.

Seems to be somewhat bugged currently with the 5.0.4 patch. Shows up in both the pet journal as well as the spellbook on the general tab.

Edit: As an update, it seems this was fixed! Probably with the 5.0.5 patch.

If you were worried that this pet would be like the various balloons, and therefore not available for pet battles, dont worry :D, this pet, and its counterpart Lampada Magica are both available for the pet battle system.

It is currently a Magic type pet with starting health of 151, 10 attack, and 10 speed (Stats on both items are the same, but they do learn slightly different abilities). On a related note, Lanterna Lunare Lanterna della Celebrazione are also available for battling :D.

This pet's model is probably based off the streetlights and lamps in areas of Blood Elf architecture. They aren't spot on the same, but if you look at the screenshot I posted (Hopefully) you will see what I mean.

Glyph of Shadowy Friends for shadow priests doesn't seem to work on this pet, he's just too bright I guess!

I sell up to twenty of these a day for 200-250g apiece. They go instantly in trade chat. Great little gold maker, as I have a bag full of these materials from doing mount runs over the years. And everyone is very happy to get them (especially the people that are actually using the item)
