I personally think that instead of expertise on this trinket there should be mastery. It even says it can proc from ranged attacks and that's an amazing buff for hunters but just because it has expertise on it I usually pass it to rogues/feral druids. Why say it can be procced by ranged attacks then put expertise on it? GG blizz?

This trinket gives 9.47 expertise not 25.71 as suggested here on wowhead

30.0727 Expertise Rating = 1 Expertise

You need 26 expertise ( 782 rating ) to be dodge capped vs raid bosses ( level 88 )

The proc from this grants me around 6% dodge on a Protection Warrior.

@genericname: No-one else needed it in my group, but the point of comments is not to say who you think should get the item, it's to be informative, as I have been. As it happens this is a pretty decent tank trinket for people who are looking to get expertise and avoidance, as opposed to stam spam like in Wrath - however, this isn't the place to discuss that ;)

i got this earlier as an enh shaman. But looking at it im not so sure its an upgrade from key to the endless chamber or grace of the herald which are my curent trinkets. Thoughts?

I just won this against a prot paladin who immediately ragequit (he had said earlier that he'd do the other bosses). I understand that a tank would want to hit the elusive expertise hard cap, but the proc seems entirely undesirable

The itemisation on this trinket seems wrong.. yes, its good for feral druids and enh shammies, but the spesific fact that it procs from ranged attacks wheras the other eye doesnt makes me think they were originally supposed to have their stats the other way around.

Anyone else think its odd?

I lost this to a hunter when i rolled for it on my enh shaman.... i died a little inside that day....

the only reason why a hunter would need this is just because it procs off of ranged crits... they won't get full use of it anyway... If your a hunter and this trinket drops you should just pass if theres a enh shaman or a rogue/fearl druid in your group..

Im glad its getting some buff as even though I now understand the value of exp more i still thing this thing seems a little underpowered compared to key to the endless chamber and other similar ilevel trinkets. at least to enhancement shamans Hit seems more valuable than exp at least before either is capped simply due to hit affecting spells, not only that but since it triggers from crits instead of attacks its trickier to trigger and doesnt even last as long. Im hoping that they at least buff this to a 15 sec duration to be inline with similar effects.

This is for melee agility classes.

Don't get rid of this trinket just because you have better! Have this trinket handy for fights where you are hitting the boss from the front such as Baradin Hold.

There are two trinkets of the same name. One from heroic and one from normal. They are unique equipped. Does that mean the heroic and normal trinket can or cannot be worn together? If they can be worn together do you get double procs like the berserker enchant?

According to RAWR it is the 2nd BIS item for hunters, surpassed only by Fluid death.
Why than, should hunters pass on it?

I ran some calculations and I think RAWR calculates something wrong.
The Eye is very good for hunters but it is surpassed by Key to the Endless Chamber and Tia's grace according to femaledwarf.
For pre-raid trinkets a hunter should aim to obtain Fluid Death and KeyotEC
So let ferals and rogues have it please.

This is extremely poorly itemised fo a hunter, despite proccing off ranged,with static stats which are worthless to us (sure you can reforge some off).There are far better available including the likes of Tia's Grace which basically offers a permanent 10 stack + all those with Agi as the static stat.

Not sure why RAWR models this well for hunters, it's clearly intended for melee needing to hit dual wield/spell hit and exp softcap and so having to invest a lot of itemisation into these. Hunters get off lightly with 8% hit cap to contend with.

The right eye providing same for fury, Ret and uh/fr Dk's .

I've greeded on this a few times as a hunter, even with noone needing for primary spec (have let it go to enh offspec, a Pala tank (at this point in gearing, tanks shouldn't be picking up exp either, the proc'd dodge is not 9%, even with only base dodge already) and a hunter. Sucks that despite a fair degree of random farming I've yet to drop a 346 hunter trinket though, should probably concentrate my efforts as SC and BR never seem to come up. I always seem to end up in DM or GB on this char, even several times a day :D

2c from a feral tank:

Even in almost full epic entry-level raid-gear feral tanks run low on expertise which can be really irritating when you get a streak of dodge/parries/misses. On many threat intensive boss fights I've found this trinket to be a life-saver probably even more than those offering a flat agi bonus. Ofcourse you can always get the same effect by keeping a flat-agi-bonus-trinket and reforge part of your gear to expertise - but this approach is a roller coaster. To sweeten the deal I've also come to appreciate the fact that the proc comes about every minute or so which is great considering that many life-threatening abilities of bosses actually do come at about that frequency, hence a short (10seconds) buff on a 1min CD plays out more nicely than say a longer (15secs) buff which is on a longer CD (1min and 30seconds).

Overall a very handy trinket for feral tanks even if it's not a BiS.

Accoriding to AskMrRobot, this trinket (beyond DM Card, which is geting nerfed anyway) is BiS both in Pre raid AND T11 heroic alongside Fluid Death for an Enhance shaman.

Oddly enough, Key to the Endless Chamber is BiS for T11 normal alongside Fluid Death.

ZOMG BUT THEY'RE NOT PURPLEZ.

Edit: This after further research only holds true for Draenei. BiS trinks vary from race to race.

How can this be ranked better than Unsolvable Riddle and Tia's grace now for Mut rogues? According to Mrrobot that is....it was never ranked better before.

As of patch 5.0 this will become BiS for hunters.
(Including most drops they can get in any raid instance upto even Dragon Soul.)
As of patch 5.0 Hunters will be needing Expertise aswell and well... their tier (and avaible mail) has non, so this item and Seal of Primordial Shadow (DS shared-boss-loot ring) are their only 2 jewelry options with enough expertise on it to make it worth the trouble.

Itemazation is just not build for hunters needing expertise, blizz admitted as much in blue posts.
To cap their expertise and to keep on raiding between 5.0 and MoP launch they are to reforge, gem and even eat expertise food otherwise (or have upto 8% of their shots dodged by the boss).
This trinket has 285 rating of the 780 they need to get. (the ring has another 184 rating if you get the DS hc and 162 for normal)
