The drop rate on these seems to have...well dropped. I got one in the Swamp of Sorrows, after killing some 30 cats. Some sixty cats in Stranglethorn gave me 4 of them.

The buyout price shown (1g each) is pretty accurate. Because of the low number of plans that use this item, it may or may not sell at the AH immediately and be returned to you, but always re-post it without lowering the price because it will sell for 5g or more per stack. Not that much cash for higher level players but if you are still in the 30-40 range and looking for mount money, 5g counts for alot.

I picked up twelve in Swamp of Sorrows so I don't think the percentages are off. There is an island just NW of Stonard that has Swamp Jaguar distributed around the edge of the island. Just work your way around the island and you should average about one fang per circuit. The cats will have respawned by the time you get back to your starting point .

confirmed again. drop rate blows. however, i dont think wowhead is incorrect. if you consider how often these SoS cats dont drop *anything*...

i would bet that the drop rate % is based on the times the mob actually drops something, so if, say, 80% of the time, the mob drops nothing, then, 10-15% of *that* would give you about a 2-3% drop rate overall, which is about what i'm dealing with atm.

chances are, these cats are not the best mob for farming em.

I find the best drop rates for this item comes from the STV mobs. I killed 5 elder mist vale gorrillas and got 3 large fangs. Also the croc's drop them fairly often.

I needed 4 fangs for a friends bracers, looked on wowhead for highest drop rate, flew to swamp of sorrows, killed over 100 cats to only get 2 fangs. Drop rate is wrong on this site.

Don't bother. Gromsblood is infinitely easier to get than a couple of these.

Yeah, I concurr with previous comments. Best way is through Elder or Pristin(?) Gorillas. Drop rate is WAY better.

i have no problem at all getting them,i have had up to about 60 at a time farming leather from whelps in SoS i kill aot of them but its not that difficult

I find it useful to sort by the Count column rather than the % (percentage) column. Dropped column confirms that gorillas in STV are the best things to farm. Haven't confirmed in play yet as my char's only 20...

The drop rate on these is really never higher than 5% or so, so farming for them sucks. They rarely show up on the AH since most people don't bother listing white items. Your best bet is to go to areas where they have lots of drops (i.e. Stranglethorn Vale, Swamp of Sorrows, etc) and post on the general chat that you want to buy them off people. Since they only vendor for 75c you should be able to get quite a few people willing to sell you some for decent prices since they are probably just going to vendor them anyway.

I tried SFK and got nothing. I tried raptors around STV and got about 2 after 30 minutes.

Then I tried Cold Eye Basilisks in STV and got 4 in 15 minutes. It may just be my luck, but I just want to pass along this possible higher drop rate.

Big spiders in Ashevnvale, Stonetalon, and Arathi drop them pretty regular

A really good mob to drop this is Young Murk Thresher :) I killed about ~50 of them and got 6 large fang. They arent aggresive so it make this easier :) They also drop Zesty Clam Meat and are good for skinning ^^

Edit: Just would like to add, that 4 years later this isn't that good source anymore :(

I found the best place to farm these if you are a higher level is in Dustwallow Marsh were the Darksmist Spiders are Dark Mist Cavern. Approx 34, 21. Drop rate is OK about 5-8% but the cave has tons of spiders in a close area making killing very easy for higher levels. Oh plus spiders drop Silk and White Spider Meat which actually has a use compared to what the jaguars and panthers drop which is just vendor trash.

Large Fangs either now have a utterly, ridiculously low drop rate in Dustwallow Marsh, or, (probably more accurately) they have moved. I just spent half an hour killing these spiders at Darkmist Cavern and not a single drop of Large Fang.

This is much like every other farmable mat in the game currently. Since the patch that introduced new content (pre Cataclysm, currently playing on Patch 4.0.1.13329) all mats, nodes, levels of NPCs, types of NPCs have been moved, reduced, changed, etc.

It has always been my experience that the Large Fangs have a much better drop rate off cats and raptors in various places, most recently, North Stranglethorn Vale. Unfortunately, the drop rate there isn't much better.

After farming outdoor mobs for several days in hopes of this dropping, i read about similar problem with small lustrous pearls.
The clams containing them dropped only inside bfd after cataclysm.
So i came back here, checked what instance mobs dropped large fangs, went to rfd, spider boss, and sure enough, one of the small tomb fiends dropped it 1st time i tried this.
So, if you're looking to farm these for your professions, i think that only option are instance mobs, at least until they fix outdoor mob loot tables.

Friends - by now it has come to no surprise that a vast majority of mob loot tables have changed and/or moved. After one week of solid farming in both EK and K, mobs level 20 - 40, I can safely say Blizzard seems to have drastically altered the low-level drops. So what you thought you knew about the old-world loot tables can be safely chucked out the door .. in many cases. Case in point with Large Fangs. Trying to farm the mobs I thought would drop them, I struck out miserably, except in RFD - yep, as alexdruid said above the fiends did indeed dop a couple. I tried WC, SM, Uldaman, etc, mobs that have dropped Large Fangs in the past ... and nada, zip. So I thought perhaps the mobs that drop the Large Fangs now closely match (+/- 5) the level of the item needing it, eg, . (My thinking here is that Bliz is trying to make it easier to find needed low-level crafting loot and moving away from instance runs ... we just have to find the right mobs.) So I headed out and farmed Highland Fleshstalkers in Arathi. I concentrated on the ones west and south of Boulderfist Hall. Here are the results after 4 hours (very good respawn rate which in some spots shared a spawn timer with the Giant Plains Creeper - sorry not one Spider's Silk):

567 - Medium Leather
386 - Raptor eggs
306 - Heavy Leather
215 - Tiny Raptor Teeth
127 - Raptor Hide
66 - Curved Raptor Talons
48 - Smooth Raptor Skin
48 - Keen Raptor Teeth
25 - Common items (all swords)
16 - Large Fangs
12 - Medium Hide
8 - Uncommon items (all armor)
8 - Heavy Hide
4 - Flecked Raptor Scale

I was also after Raptor Hide. Hope this helps.

4 clears of Caller's Chamber, got 4x Large Fang, 4x Thick Spider's Silk, 6x Shadow Silk. Took 30 minutes, could have been a lot less.

Just spent 1.5 hours killing Highland Fleshstalkers in Arathi, and got not 1, not 2, not even 3 large fangs.....but a big fat zero. Do you have to be below a certain level for these to drop?

Can't say for sure but i seriously doubt it has a level preference. I spent less then 30 minutes and got four. Maybe it only drops a certain amount each day... who knows what Blizz programmers do.

I grinded the Highland Fleshstalkers for about an hour and got 5 Large Fangs. The drop rate on them is pretty low. On the plus side I ended up with 140+ Raptor Eggs, Raptor Flesh and Raptor Hide which all sells well on my server's AH :P

If you came here seeking a decent farm for these due to their use in a cheap looking JC skill builder(or whatever else), you're better off passing this up. These fangs are rare from any mob they drop from off of, and most ppl that do get them vendor them with no idea that anyone would ever want them.(Else they'd be worth tons in the AH) So you can't buy them either. You're better off farming something else, or at the very least, farming Iron, selling the Iron, then buying more Gold or something to skill off of. Iron is worth LOTS these days, and Mithril is worth even more. Go farm those, then pay for your skill ups on other stuff. It makes FAR more sense than trying to farm fangs.

Unfortunately, the entire ecosystem of the Swamp of Sorrows has changed, after the Cataclysm, removing our prime farming-ground for this item. The mobs that dropped this fang are simply not available now.

I have found these are not as horrible of drops as a few of the previous posters have mentioned since Cata hit. The raptors in Arathi Highlands drop these, and not at a lousy pace. I killed appx. 30 Arathi Fleshstalkers and received 3. Plus, various meats and another annoying find, Raptor Hides. So in the farming, you're getting various items and if you are skinner, oh snap!

Seriously, calm down folks. You just have to find other zones! Blizz is making us think the map. =)

As of Cataclysm, these Highland Fleshstalkers are the best guys to farm if you are looking for Large Fangs. There aren't a ton of them in their little area just north of the bridge to The Wetlands, but they respawn fairly quickly (very quickly if someone is skinning them).

I made two loops through, and got the 4 Large Fangs I needed to make a pair of Barbaric Bracers.

After reading the posts here I decided to check out the official forums as I was not having any luck in Arathi. From there i saw that someone had luck in the Scarlet Monastery: Library from the hounds. I checked it out and had 3 within 4 runs. They are close to the entrance so clearing them out on an 85 takes about 2 mins. Reset and repeat

Just tried farming for these off the raptors in Arathi. It's pretty sad when you set out to farm a white/common quality item to help level a lowbie alts profession, and end up with more greens/uncommons than said item. I think blizzard needs to fix this, or at least make more NPCs able to drop them. I mean realisticly you should be getting less "uncommon" items than "common" items, am I right?

edit: to be more clear, I'm not sure how many raptors I killed (ended up with 280 eggs and 180 flesh though, so assume around 200), I recieved 9 greens and only 3 fangs.

Believe the numbers and weigh your time wisely.

There are no good spots to farm large fangs... there are just spots that suck slightly less than others. It's a pretty sobering moment, when you realize it's going to take longer to craft the gear than it will for your alt to outlevel it.

Much to my surprise, the Segugio da Punta Scarlatto in SM Huntsman's Cloister (Library instance) yielded 3 in 3 quick runs. It may be luck for me but worth running in if you are flying over anyway.

To bring the comments into the new year and patch; I went after the Fleshstalkers. in Arathi Highlands, and after a 30 minute run netted the following:
3 Large Fangs.
2 Green Drops.
63 Raptor eggs.
43 Raptor Flesh.
22 Raptor Hide.
52 Medium Leather.
15 Heavy Leather.
1 Medium Hide.
1 Heavy Hide.
84 Grey Items. (including teeth, raptor claws, and weapons or armor)
As a further note, It didn't seem to matter if the FS was lvl 29 or 28th. Both lvls dropped the fangs, but the greens, heavy leather, and heavy hide came from the 29th's.

Tried farming as advised in Arathi. Must say the grind is slow - the results after 1 hr farming:
6 pieces
all dropped by Highland Fleshstalkers
of Giant Plain Creepers, Plain Creepers, Highland Thrashers - none dropped at all.
Good thing is that respawn rate for Highland Fleshstalkers is pretty good

I got TWO in one round of Kraul Bats in Razor Fen Kraul. Definitely a better drop rate than the Fleshstriders of Arathi Basin. Happy hunting!

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that this item's drop frequency is so low anymore when it was common before. It's required for a relatively low level leather working pattern as well as other things however, making a material item needed for a LOW LEVEL item pattern virtually impossible to get AT LOW LEVEL is a major fail by Blizzard. Just one of many failures with respect to production professions and compensating gear drops for the huge gaps in level of the patterns/plans. Really, if they are going to have production professions that make gear, they really need to pay attention to details as well as fill in the holes. If they can't do that, then why bother having production professions that make gear? Sorry for the rant but I'm just bloody damned fed up with the inconsistencies.

IMPROVED DROP RATE
I went, expecting the worst but I farmed 5 in the areas of 41,81 and 47,69 in less than 30 min. 4 of them came from the first 40 kills. Life is good.

Basilisco Occhioambrato seems the last and only reliable source of these fangs outside dungeons.
Still, the drop rate is very low. And there's only like 8 mobs for all of the Orange corner of the maze...
Do note: Razziatore Occhioambrato does NOT drop fangs.

I hope this post helps- I was farming for medium/heavy hide in Razorfen Kraul running straight to the bats (Kraul Bats Started noticing every other run I would get at 1-2 Large Fangs from the Bats- If you are LW and heading to get Medium/Heavy Leathers and Hides Razorfen Kraul a great place to also pick up some Large Fangs at the same time- Side note: The instance can be reset repeatedly just go out reset all instances, kill moar bats and rip out their Fangs!

Highland Fleshstalkers in Arathi : Based on 96 sundry raptor teeth (approx 96 kills) = 3 Large Fangs
The respawn rate is reasonably quick, I was farming in two clusters - one in the upper field and one in the lower.
RFC - one run = 1 Large Fang from bats

Based on earlier comments, I spent several hours farming for Large Fangs from both the Highland Fleshstalkers in Arathi and the Kraul Bats in RFK (12 runs) with no success. I hopped over to Razorfen Downs to try my luck with the Tomb Fiends and Tomb Reavers, which are summoned via the nearby gong in advance of the boss fight with Tuten'kash. On four partial runs to the gong event over the course of 20 minutes, I secured 4 Large Fangs (2 each on runs 2 and 4). Appears to be a more time-efficient approach to getting this low-drop item.

A quick way to get these Large fangs is to run Razorfen downs, I ran it and I got 4 in 10-15 minutes (Mostly because the spiders kept webbing me!). Just run razorfens to the spider boss and kill all the spiders then go a repeat the dungeon, It may not give you any fangs the first time but it definitely will the second time. Works for me when I need them!

In Razorfen Downs, remember to look up (I forgot that on my first couple of runs x.x).

I got 3 of my 10 fangs from the 4 Scagliatela Putrefatto hanging under the ceiling.

Farmed Highland Fleshstalkers for 30 minutes, did not get one large fang so moved on to Razorfen Downs. Killiing and looting everything up to Aarux and then running back out to reset the dungeon took under three minutes and in ten runs taking approximately 28 minutes, I got twelve large fangs. Good luck!

Again, HORRIBLE drop rate. It wasn't this bad 5 years ago when I farmed the Highland Fleshstalkers. Today I went through RFK once and RFD twice and got THREE large fangs. Ridiculous.

I ran Razorfen Downs four times, and only two dropped total, and they were both from the first run.
