They are used for the barbaric iron set of Black smithing armours. If you have a freind with black smithing between about 175 and 225 they will LOVE you for giving them shese instead of vendoring them, because the barbaric iron set is one of the few good BS things that doesn't require gems.

You can make decent money off of greens that don't use gems.

So I've been trying to farm these since i re-rolled Warrior for their use in making Rage Potion.

The place that I highly recommend for both sides and anyone with a lvl 40 or higher character would be Duskwood @ 62.1, 81.4 HERE'S A MAP TO LOCATION and here are some BEFORE and AFTER Screenshots as well.

The Nightbane Tainted One lvl 29-30 are great to farm these off of because of their instantly spawn at the point on the left. The point on the right and inbetween the two points are more spots where packs of them hang out as well...

They have a reasonable drop rate of 8%, however if you look at their page that's the highest drop rate they have for any loot. They still take awhile to farm BUT if you kill them in groups, and kill "every" single one they will instantly spawn. I was a lvl48 hunter just point, click, shooting everyone around me then killing them all with Volley and Explosive Trap in one big circle. Non stop killing only taking breaks to loot.

Now I know Flamesnorting Whelp & Crimson Whelp from the Wetlands have a higher drop % as does the Highland Razormaw and I tried these but only a few dropped and the Whelps are so few and far apart, spread all over the place that you do a lot more moving around, mounting and unmounting, then you do farming. I haven't yet tried the Pesterhide Snarler from Thousand Needles but they have a high drop % as well though but not instant spawn like my spot.

Confirmed 4.1 these are still dropping from Ghostclaw Lynx in Ghostlands, area around Sanctum of the Sun. I think I must have got lucky, only had to kill around 10 and got the 2 I needed for my BS's quest.

Can confirm these drop off raptors outside WC. Did not get any in a complete clear of inside WC however. This could be do to the rather low drop rate though. Still I guess it's a viable alternative for Kalimdor.

Ghostlands, I killed several of them. Got 3 Sharp Claws and good to go! Just run a circle around The sanctum! 69,43 is where i started! Good luck and i also submitted a screen shot!

just hunt down about a dozen Ghostclaw Lynx in the ghost lands and ull get it took me 2 days to find one cause i was hunting everthing else lol when it took 5 min tops in the ghostlands

These still drop in Ghostland at least. Got one from a Ravager and one from a Lynx today.

used my 75 paladin aproximately 30 kills both lynx and ravagers got 4 claws in ghostlands

I found, for those chasing this particular item, that alot of the mobs that drop the sharp claw no longer exist post 4.3.

ghostclaw ravagers (lynx like creatures) along the souther border of the ghostlands is your best bet.

Well, if this farming trip is any indication, the drop rate in the Ghostlands has been severely curtailed. I've lost count of how many of the various Ghostclaw MOBs I've killed, but having looted over 150 lynx steaks and with about 20% dropping no loot, I'm guessing I've farmed 400-500 of these critters with only one Sharp Claw to show. A lot less than the 5-7% drop rated currently showing for these creatures.

I successfully farmed some of these from the Veridian Whelps/Broodlings in Bloodmyst Isle.

Any of the Ghostclaw lynx cats can drop the sharp claw. I killed starving ghostcalw, ghostclaw lynx, and ghostclaw ravagers. Took about a half hour to get 4 going between these three mobs.

dayum... looks like 90% of mobs with a decent drop rate for these have been removed from the game all together.... damn you deathwing!

Craptastic drop rate...

Ran the Raptor area of WC three times before I got them. Also slaughtered anything that looked suspicious in Northern Barrens before that. Maybe it's the quest that all of a sudden makes them a challenge to get...

Just got another one on my way out. So maybe not so craptastic after all :p

For those of you struggling to find these on Alliance side, the whelps and broodlings on Bloostmyst Isle map drop these quite regularly. I managed to collect six of these just doing the few quests on Wyrmscar.

Might be worthy to note also that these mobs are skinnable, so don't forget to grab the leather and hides too :)

For Horde, it's all about the Ghostlands. Any lynx will do - they dropped 2 for me in as many minutes. Spent that many hours trying to farm from the Elder Gray Bear in Hillsbrad - don't waste your time. Essential for the Barbaric Battlements quest. Thanks to those nearby for the tip.

For anybody still doing this quest, the best place is Razorfen Kraul. Take your 90, blast through to the bat section, AOE everything and collect your claws. I wasted too much time on those stupid cats in Ghostlands only to have them drop instantly in Razorfen.

As of 10/9/2016 I can confirm the Sharp Claw drops off of the Ghostclaw Ravager level 17 NPC, at a poor drop rate. (I'm not sure how many I killed to get my first one, but it was about 40 min of farming just to get one.) I ended up with 10 in about 2 & 1/2, to 3 hours.

Farm the Auction House instead. Not worth your time to get them otherwise.

Got 3 of them in about 30 minutes farming the various Ghostclaws in the Ghostlands.

Had the most success with Sharp Claw drops off the Ghostclaw Ravager.Two drops in about 25 minutes. Good option is to bring the skinner.
