With the Insightful branch of gems gone, this looks like the choice of meta gem for healers. Another contender would be the Ember Shadowspirit Diamond.

It will depend on your stat priority as well. A healer who focuses on crit will get a lot more out of this than one who doesn't. It can be very helpful for a disc priest's Divine Aegis, a resto shaman's Ancestral Awakening, or a resto druid's Living Seed. If you're a healer that doesn't benefit from crit (or if your class does, but your playstyle doesn't) then one of the others would probably be better.

I'll probably be going with the Ember Shadowspirit Diamond on my druid. I think the proc from IED might be more than 2% max mana will give me, but not by much, and then I'm looking at 54 Int vs. 21 Int. I also will get more mana back from my max mana than a shaman will (shamans have mana tide totem and imp water shield, neither based on max mana; druids have Revitalize and Innervate).

As a holy priest I am considering going for this meta gem just because of the spirit. Crit isn't a stat I prioritize, but the spirit is just THAT GOOD at current gear levels (cata's only 3 days old and dps aren't very good at cc/getting out of fires yet).

I would not go with the IED as a hpriest because of the talent Holy Concentration. Additionally, the meta restriction of this gem is easier to meet.

To clarify the somewhat odd wording of this metagem: It does not increase your chance to cast a Critical Heal. It increases the amount of healing done by your Critical Heals.

Also for holy priest, 25 and 10 man raids POH casting is in. 5 cast each having a chance to crit, +3% added to each crit. Add the POH glyph, echo of light, and the chakra state. This meta can easily out perform the +54intellect gem in output and increase a holy priest mana regen.

I easily hit 11k crits before the gem, add 3% thats 330 more healing with the gem. With coefficents 54 intellect doesn't translate to +54 hp healing. So when your AOE healing you are bound to crit alot. Making this gem a hidden star.
