The information that I have found indicates that you can find giant clam meat in Northern Stranglethorn, specifically in the Vile Reef. I spent over 30 min swimming around looking for the clams and only found 7 in that time. Out of the 7 I found, only 1 had giant clam meat in it.

As of 6.2.2a, more than 40 runs of Abissi di Fondocupo and every Mollusco Gigante I looted dropped Mollusco Piccante, NOT Mollusco Gigante. Similar results from sampling in the giant clams of Rovotorto Settentrionale, Isola Brumacremisi, and Terre Spettrali. I believe the loot table has been broken for this item since sometime after the release of MoP.

Edit: Different day, same toon - vastly different results. Discontent with my previous results, I set to working over the Vile Reef in Rovotorto Settentrionale again. Over the course of an hour, I opened 35 Mollusco Gigante, received a total of 35 Perla Blu, 4 Mollusco Piccante and (most importantly) 16 Mollusco Gigante. Why the Random Number Gods favored me one time and not another, I cannot explain. The RNGs are a fickle lot to be sure.

Conclusions: If you want/need Mollusco Gigante, take a druid toon to Rovotorto Settentrionale and pillage the Vile Reef in travel form. Since Mollusco Gigante counter-intuitively drop almost twice as many Perla Blus as Mollusco Gigante, it's a crying shame that Perla Blus have only a single use and that being a low-level engineering one at that: Bomba Sfollabestie. To make matters worse, Schema: Bomba Sfollabestie is a dungeon drop, so there's scant chance you'll make any profit selling Perla Blus on the AH.

Both Giant Clam meat and Blue Pearl still drop in the Vile Reef, got them both on the first Giant Clam opened.

Still - if you are not coco in the loco for some clams and you desperately don't want to make some giant Clam Scorcho... like me...
then I don't think it is worthy
