Not sure if you heard about it being in Icecrown, but near it. The most talked about pickpocketing area seems to be the Avalanche, in Sholazar Basin. 'Cause it has 100s of pickable Undead just walking around.

I got mine from the Vrykul right next to the Giant Lift in Howling Fjord. It was about the fourth or fifth box i picked off of them and it dropped

Ok while I have not gotten this item as of yet I thought I would like to share some numbers and my sweet pickpocket spot.

The absolute best spot I've found is in the "Valley of the Fallen Heroes" in Icecrown, directly south of the Shadow Vault. The mobs are friendly to Alliance so no danger of aggroing while pickpocketing (I'm sure there is a horde friendly area as well). There is an area these mobs will run to and de-spawn, 3-5 at a time will pass through, just stand in the area they are running through and pick them as they pass. The supply of boxes is unlimited as you don't have to wait for them to repopulate the contents of their pockets or kill them to spawn to new mobs.

Yes the Avalanche is nice but to much random movement of the mobs, same with the Conflagration gate the danger of aggroing a mob is too high to make good time.The Valley also takes the need to have talent points in the sub tree. (although Fleet Footed is nice here as well) So on to the numbers to prove my point.

5 days of farming 2-3 hours a day has gotten me:
Average 80g/40boxes per hour

Approx 700 boxes looted
1350g (just from picking pockets and the few gold I get from vendoring the trash)
350+ Runic Healing Potion
6 Rare Quality gems
6 pairs of Decahedral Dwarven Dice (50g per on AH)
6-7 Greens

I think the numbers are pretty high and make this spot the fastest farming area for picking pockets I have found.

A few tips:

1. Make sure to have the "Glyph of Pickpocket" as the mobs are running as they pass, the extra 5 yards is nice and I miss very few mobs.

2. If you hammer the pickpocket action button on every mob, you will loot the same amount of silver 2-3 times off each one ( my highest take off a single mob was 1g12s got 43s 3 times)

3. If you are a tab targeter like me, there is a GD @#$%roach that spawns right where you get the best chance to loot the mobs, have to kill it every few minutes as it will mess up targeting on large mobs.

I know this is a large post but I hope it is helpful to any of you rogues that may be trying to farm this. I will update back when I finally loot this item. (and I WILL get it :))

up to 2000g picked
approx 1000boxes
aprrox 400 runic healing
and 1 Dusk Blade looted

This macro is probably the most useful macro around for pickpocketing areas like the avalanche, or really anywhere with a lot of humanoids:

#showtooltip Pick Pocket
/console targetNearestDistance 8,000000
/targetenemy
/cast Pick Pocket
/cleartarget

Bind this macro to your mousewheel up and mousewheel down, and go to town. It targets the mob in front of you normally, so if theres a whole group of 3-4, you may have to rotate your character a little bit.

Another great macro is:

#showtooltip Pick Pocket
/cast Pick Pocket

All you have to do is mouse over the target you wish to pick pocket and hit the button you have bound to this. ( 1 or 2 works for me but do whatever you like)

For both of these to work effectively, you're going to want to turn "Auto-loot" **On** (This option is found in the interface menu)

Personally, I've found the avalanche to be the best spot, start at the bottom and work your way up, you never get seen, the huge clump of undead are great, you use distract and pickpocket them all. By the time you finish a bottom--> top pickpocketing run, the mobs you started with will have the contents of their pockets respawned. also, if you can find someone doing the Avalanche Quest, riding the titan guy, follow them and pickpocket whatever they're fighting.

For those of you looking for epics pickpocketing here is my experience:

If you go to your Achievement window, look at the Statistics tab (on the bottom) and go to the Character screen (Left Side Nav) under "Wealth" it will tel you the "Number of Items Pickpocketed". (Note: this is total "Items" pickpocketed, mobs that result in coin only do not count).

Here are a few of my personal stats:

I got my first epic (Spineslicer) when I had Pickpocketed 3312 items.
I got my second epic (Krol Cleaver) when I had Pickpocketed 5977 items.
I got my third epic (Spineslicer again) when I had Pickpocketed 13686 items. --quite a gap there. I had begun to think epics didn't drop anymore.

I have currently pickpocketed 15465 items. Still only the 3 epics.

You don't loot that much silver/gold-- you only actually receive the amount that's on the mob, but if you're spamming the button the client misreports it. If you look at your gold total before and after, though, it'll only be what you had + whatever would've been looted normally.

You'd be making a hell of a lot more money if it did work that way.

Just to throw my 2 cents in. I acquired mine from pick pocketing the dwarves at 77.3/47.0 in the Howling Fjord. The mobs are mining so you can walk down the line and just pick pocket about 15 a lap.

Just got one yesterday while leveling my rogue. I have been leveling lockpicking and this was found on 25th reinforced junkbox that I popped open. ;)
