It's hard to tell whether this glyph will be very useful in WotLK, because little is known about how high crit %'s will be at level 80. My first inclination is to think that this is the second best glyph, behind Glyph of Improved Scorch.

Crit is going to be HUGE in Wotlk, especially with the new talents Burnout (mixed with ignite, making crits do a total of 245% of normal damage) and Hot Streak... But who knows if 2% crit will stack up with some of the other glyphs that may come out later...

The spell damage (fully talented) coefficient of a non-critical striking fireball is 146%, vs 461% coefficient for a critical strike chance. (Burnout, Standard Critical Strike Multiplier, and Ignite taken into consideration; 50%, 50%, and 40% respectively).
Now, if we take this and insert it into a spreadsheet, where the standard mage has 2000 spell damage and increasing critical chance intervals of 10%, it shows us the following increase in DPS:
10-20% - > 17.75%
20-30% - > 15.07%
30-40% - > 13.10%
40-50% - > 11.58%
These are all the glyphs released to date, and to date, with the current numbers we will face, and the added 5% critical strike damage on our set bonus, this is infact a good glyph to take in if you want to stick to single target DPS.
If you currently stand @ 25% critical strike chance, adding this glyph would increase your fireball spam DPS by 2.8%.

PS This information is taken under ideal Latency situation (0 MS) and 0 Haste. Haste Affects the spreadsheet in other ways.

This can not be learned by the trainer. It must be learned via the Northrend Inscription Research.
It appears this isn't the only glyph for which this mistake has made.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed.

OLD: Glyph of Molten Armor
Your Molten Armor grants an additional 2% spell critical strike chance.

NEW: Glyph of Crittermorph
When cast on critters, your Polymorph spells now last 24 hrs and can be cast on multiple targets.

Currently there exists a possible bug that causes Polymorph to not consume Presence of Mind when cast on critters (only critters), allowing a mage to run around instantly polymorphing everything within sight.

Edit: Appears to have been fixed at some point.

According to this thread on the EU forums, there is currently a bug where /castrandom Polymorph macros will not work as intended while Glyph of Crittermorph is active.

It will choose a random Polymorph spell each time your UI is loaded, but after that the macro will only cast that same spell.

Removing Glyph of Crittermorph will solve the problem.

I am fed up with trying to get Crittermorph
to work. It will change 1 critter - if I try to change another the 1st critter reverts to normal. The spell lasts a very short time - min. approx NOT 24 hrs. Oh how I wish it did.
Thinking of giving up on Mage - so weak - can't kill a few rabbits and I am level 90. If crittermorph had worked - that would have made a difference - spend too much time returning from graveyard!

I always keep this minor glyph active. I just like to stop by Stormwind sometimes and use Metamorfosi on all the squirrels in the Mage District. :D

as of wod pre patch i no longer can cast on more than one thing. I use to turn a flock of moths into penguins. FIX THIS

This glyph has (finally!) been fixed in the 7.0.3 Legion pre-patch! It now correctly allows you to polymorph multiple critters at once and the buff lasts for one day.

This Mage glyph, was altered in Legion. This is applied directly to your spell, in your spellbook.
Removing a glyph: use Vanishing Powder on the specific spell, this will remove the effect, however, if you want the glyph again, you'll need to rebuy it.
