So it's not a socketed gem, or a trinket or ring? What does this do? Equivalent of hunters mark? Or do we use it to tap our target so people can't ninja it?

Dont cross the beams!

These light up your target with a purple and green color. It is just like marks, but more funny.

Pretty much a just-for-fun item. Channeled, so you can't use it while attacking. Raid icons are much better for targetting in raid groups. Only useful for skilling up JC, since it's orange when you learn it.

Most wonderful item to mess with low-level players or people new to Northrend. Wish it gave your party some sort of damage or accuracy increase though.

I think this is just going to be an easy and one of the more inexpensive ways to lvl jewelcrafting at certain steps.

These items are useful.

When you're hunting a specific mob, make a /target macro with the mob's name, then /use for this item or any of its kind.

You'll be literally pointed in the right direction.

Anyone going to mention how kick ass it looks? The purple beam with the green one cork-screwing around it, really fun to use in areas like IF and orgrimmar, since it goes over the gaps and from building to building. Also, it's really fun to use if you're a hunter and someone uses it on you, if you Feign Death, it makes the beam stop and looks as though it killed you. Got a lot of whispers after my friend used it and I feign'd, lolz sold a lot that day.

The other day, I saw a person in Dalaran using these to lead people to him for gem cuts while he sat around the middle. Pretty clever use if you're unable to party with someone when offering crafting services.

This item is great to have some fun and is very useful too. We rounded up a few guys and wrote the abbrevation of Ironforge in laser near the bridge, then posted the screenshot here. Had to use a guard and bread vendor to pull it off though. :p

May be cooler looking, but costs twice as much to make. The nicest part of these crystals is the "autoface" effect, and the fact that not only will it point you in the right direction, the beam shows you whether it's above or below you too...invaluable when you're searching for quest mobs in caves.

Along with other Focusing Lenses, this one makes Onyxia stand before pull. Side effect: some1 usually starting to cry "Who pulled ffs!".

This item is extremely usefull at Blood-Queen Lana'thel when its your turn to bite a raid member.
In this particular fight, personally, I often have a hard time finding the person to bite when I have to keep an eye on Swarming Shadows on ground, Incite Terror timer and Pact of the Darkfallen despite we use an addon to whisper us who to bite.

Whenever I have 5 secs left before I have to bite, I right-click the focusing lens and voila, its now ridicously easy to find your target.
Mats for lenses is very cheap and you get 40 charges. No more will you mindcontrolled.

Woah, that's quite the invention you've made over there.. I always thought these things would just be annoying, nothing more.
Turns out those things can -actually- be useful!
(Now I'm obviously excluding the fact that you can annoy people so well in Roleplay Servers with these little angels! <3)

i love this item.

helps when you are looking for a NPC and know his name, you can see him on the minimap but dont understand where exactly he is.
"/tar $npc_name" and use this item. if the NPC is in a ~60yd range your pg will face him, and you'll just have to follow the ray. ...and you'll know if he is under ground or above your head
