Think about how many times you're someplace WoWHead has sent you for a quest to kill/escort/talk to someone, but can't see the NPC even though you can /target name so he's close by. Now, you can /use crystal. It is not affected by line of sight.

I just bought one for leveling in Northrend with. The maker advertised it on Trade as being "totally useless" until I pointed out this use; watch it catch on.

Anyone know if vanish clears it? Cause if you see a rogue, use this then you may always be able to see them, regardless if there stealthed or not. Can anyone confirm if this can be used on stealthed rogues?

As far as i know, all forms of disappearing will cancel this affect on your target. I have personally tested vanish and invisibility, but not potions yet :)

For extra style points, use this on your PVP targets before you attack them.

Sure, it usually ruins the element of surprise, but the "OH SHI---" effect it has on your target is priceless. It's like in the movies when someone suddenly realizes there is a sniper rifle beam pointing right at their head.

I guess if your in WG or something and lost track of your target, but are dead set on killing this guy rather than switch targets, I guess this may become useful. If only is wasn't channeled. I would imagine any effect that removes target will cancel the beam. I'll test a few and confirm later: Invisibility, Vanish, Feign Death.

Useful for camping/tormenting gnomes and loladins. They rez behind a tree or something, this will find 'em quick with a nifty macro.

Could also be used to find NPCs or players in a crowded place as long as you're in the general area, the thing seems to have an impressive range.

Standing on the roof top of The Silver enclave beaming Ally's with your friends makes this worth every copper!
If you do it in org/ironforge you might get some nasty whispers from no lifers!

This item is extremely usefull at Blood-Queen Lana'thel when its your turn to bite a raid member.
In this particular fight, personally, I often have a hard time finding the person to bite when I have to keep an eye on Swarming Shadows on ground, Incite Terror timer and Pact of the Darkfallen despite we use an addon to whisper us who to bite.

Whenever I have 5 secs left before I have to bite, I right-click the focusing lens and voila, its now ridicously easy to find your target.
Mats for lenses is very cheap and you get 40 charges. No more will you mindcontrolled.

Suprisingly useful when trying to locate rare spawns with your target macros, because the range of it is GIGANTIC, isn't affected by facing the target or line of sight, and goes through walls. Also hilarious for using to mess with people if you manage to get in an unusual place. I once managed to get on top of the Orgrimmar Winter Veil tree and attract attention with it, causing people to try and jump to it and fall to thier death. I'm going to miss that in Cata. :c

But yeah. Well worth it if you can get a couple for very cheap. Use to locate rares, mess with friends, emphasise an enemy or enemy player...Show no mercy with the "weakest" jewelcrafting recipie in the game.

I've been spending the past hour hiding behind trees and buildings around Goldshire and making other players follow this beam, but since I'm a rogue I just go stealth right before they figure out who or what is causing it. This might be more fun than having a cat and a laser pointer. I haven't decided yet.
