The Oracles are the mortal enemies of the Frenzyheart Tribe of Wolvar. Gaining Reputation with one of these Factions loses Reputation with the other.

Devs have stated that they want players to be ables to switch between these Factions freely. A player does not need to pick a side and stick with it. The large variety of daily quests available for each side (including one specifically made to help a player switch Factions), make this change easy to accomplish.

Apparently, we will be able to get both Mysterious Egg and Disgusting Jar, though not at the same time obviously. Good news for pet collectors!

When the seven day long "cool down" completes it becomes a Cracked Egg, which can contain one of the following items.

Aged Yolk
The first possibility is a "failure" because nothing actually hatches, like the flavor text suggests.

The other known possible outcomes are mini pets and include:
- Cobra Hatchling
- Proto-Drake Whelp
- Tickbird Hatchling
- White Tickbird Hatchling

Each outcome is independent of past outcomes, meaning you can receive a particular item more than once as they are not unique.
(Even the drake, the item and spell are counted separately as far as uniqueness goes)

All mini pet items are trade able.

There is a rare chance to obtain a Green proto-drake from the oracle egg.

To access the daily quests you must save either the oracle or frenzyheart member when fighting Artruis. This will allow you to swap back and forth between Frenzyheart or Oracle via a daily quest, so when you want to change to the other faction, come here, slay the lich, save whichever member you want to align with, then go off and enjoy your dailies.

I solo'd him at level 80 as an affliction warlock in t6/sunwell gear, his adds are fearable. Saw an enhance shaman solo him at level 78 (not sure on gear).

If you're up to exalted and want to swap, if you have primarly heroic/badge/naxx gear you should be fine.

Despite getting an error in the duration of the egg, after having logged on today on Monday, a week after having bought the egg, the game informed me that I had just received a Cracked Egg, and thus the egg had hatched in time.

So in summation: if your egg hatch duration shows something else than what it should, don't fret; it could very well just be a cosmetic bug in the tool tip, and not actually have anything to do with the duration itself.

I would like to report an issue with this item. I have opened a GM ticket, and will edit this comment after I get a response.

I bought the egg on Monday, and the duration was 7 days as expected.
On Tuesday, roughly 24 hours later, it said 6 days, and seemed to be working fine.
A day later on Wednesday however it says 7 days again, which means I have effectively lost two days of the hatching period.

If you encounter a similar problem, this comment might be of use to you once I've edited it with a GM response.

The GM I paged contacted me about half an hour to an hour later and told me what I already knew: they are aware of the issue, and are working on it. Other than that he offered absolutely no advice whatsoever. Basically all you can do is wait, and hope the timer runs down.

My egg seemed to have fixed itself yesterday, and the duration had gone down to 4 days. Today, my timer duration should show 3 days (actually 2, but I've lost a day somewhere), yet it's gone back up to 7 days.

All in all it seems the "egg timer" seems to have some very complicated issues. I too am hoping they're simply cosmetic and in the tool tip display, and not in the egg itself. I'll edit the comment after 7 days has passed since I bought the egg, and give you the results.

I can confirm that you don't need Revered with The Oracles to open the actual egg when the 7 days have passed. I switched to Frenzyheart then back (don't ask why) But I could open it when it was 100 rep left to Revered. The reputation requirement disappear when the duration has disappeared.

When the time was up it said I received a cracked egg or something of the like.
It said I had 14 seconds remaining. I opened it before this expired and got a proto-drake hatchling.

What does it mean when the time runs out, does it hatch by itself or does it turn bad?

It seems there is a Bug where the timer resets back to 7 days occasionally. not sure what triggers it, and it seems to happen at any time. I've heard peoples reset at 6 days, mine reset at less than 1 left

Edit:
After logging out for a bit and back in the timer reset back to what it was before going to 7 days, so if this happens to you, try logging out and back in.

I have now personally confirmed that if you purchase an egg and then convert to Frenzyheart, the egg will still hatch and be lootable, in spite of the red text that may lead you to believe otherwise.

I guess that you need to train the skill to learn the Mount if it drops, just that you won´t learn it as soon as you open it up?

And the duration time, does it countdown when you are logged on or when you are not logged on. As an example:

I buy the Mysterious Egg this Monday. Then I log out for a week and back on next Monday and it should hatch by then?

Or does it counts in playtime? Been wonderign this all day, just need an answer to it :P

The mount is not learned instantly when you click on the egg. I received the mount last week and the egg contained the Reins of the Green Proto-Drake. However, it was BoP.

The faction requirement (Requires _____ - Revered) only applies to purchasing the item, not opening it. You can have and use a Disgusting Jar even after you have left them for the Oracles (so long as you bought it when you had the rep with the Frenzyheart) and vice versa.

Disgusting Jar ---> Ripe Disgusting jar
Mysterious Egg ---> Cracked Egg

To switch factions, just repeat the objective of A Hero's Burden, but choose the opposite faction. Betraying your currently-exalted faction is necessary for the 'Mercenary of Sholazar' achievement. You cannot have good reputations with both simultaneously.

About the timer resetting.

My timer reset today and after developing a facial tic I closed the client down and logged back in. The timer showed the correct time.

The egg didn't leave my bags so the thing about not putting it in the bank isn't quite correct.

There has been quite a bit of dodgy stuff going on, notably in Wintergrasp, dying in strands of the ancient and resurrecting at westfall etc.

Since the pets are not soulbound in my guild we have formed the "Egg Club". Basically it's just a group of people in our guild who collect the vanity pets. We all buy our eggs every week and if we get a duplicate pet someone else in the club that hasn't gotten the pet gets it. Should make getting all 4 of the pets much easier for all of us.

You do not have to be revered with the Oracles to open it.

You can buy it, switch over to the Frenzyheart, then open it while you are hated by the oracles.

A second proto drake is lootable but not learnable. It is soulbound and stuck to that character.

You lose the egg when you change from Oracles to Frenzyheart.

I got my proto-drake so I decided to swap to Frenzyheart Tribe for achievement,
I bought egg before swapping thinking that I'd get extra hatch for fun while grinding Frenzyheart to Revered for equivalent but doesn't work that way. Egg was destroyed when I became hated with Oracles.

Right clicking on the egg immediately does NOT give you the reins to the green proto-drake, the truth is that it does nothing of you click on the egg. Simply have to wait for 7 days and hope for the best I guess.

I was going to ask when I first got this if anybody know how the duration worked for this item. Previously, items such as beer mugs from new years, brooms, and other event items would only pass time when you were logged on.

It appears this follows real time and not just time in game. That's very nice considering how long it could take if time passed only while that character was logged in.

When next you log in or possibly when the timer finishes, there seems to be some small info error/lag until it totally processes that the egg has hatched and then you recieve the Cracked Egg.

I was astonished and horrified to discover that this charlatan Geen buys his suposed "mysterious" eggs from Farmer Saldean for 10c a pop! Don't waste your savings on these eggs as I did, learn from my mistakes before it is too late!

Ok, a group of really good friends told me of a way to get a Green Proto Drake first time out. I laughed and told them they were full of crap but I thought what do I have to loose might as well try it. And guess what.............it worked. Including myself this is the 5th time I know of for a fact that it has worked. Got my mount yesterday on my first egg!

Here is what ya gotta do. You get a priest to put levitate on you and you go out over water and open your egg and thats it! I couldnt believe it! You can thank me later! Enjoy!

Sorry guys but I really dont mean to burst your bubble when the people who are reading this are like "Oh sweet, i can get a green proto drake in a matter of weeks..." Apparently you have a 1 in 6 chance to get the drake, so technically 6 weeks-6 eggs you should have your drake! WRONG! This is blizz and they enjoy watching you suffer. I am currently one my 11th egg thats right 11th! Still waiting for my drake, the cooldown finishes in about 22 hours so hopefully then. But yes, once you accuire it great, I have known people who have got it on the 1st egg, but not me. Well good luck to those of you out there.

*edit* The displayed 6 day duration is a PTR bug, even new eggs still have 7 days on 3.1 Live.

To clarify: Shortly before the 3.1 PTR phase ended, the duration was apparently lowered to 6 days, Wowhead registered that for their PTR data, and then merged this with the Live database when 3.1 hit. For some reason it didn't get updated again yet, maybe because registering durations is difficult.

I apologize if this has been asked before and it can freely be downgraded after it has been (or if it has already been) answered. With that being said, does it matter how long you wait after the egg has hatched to see what you got? For instance, if you wait a couple of days until you open the egg, does it spoil into the "Stinky Yolk" or whatever, or is what's in there what's in there no matter how long you wait to open the egg and it just waits for you to open it?

Something about this egg has drawn my attention. It says the duration is 7 days, however I am almost positive that the duration is shorter than 7days. The reason I state this is because I recieved my first egg on Sunday night/ Monday morning around 1:45am, now almost a whole week later my egg says 11 hours left on the duration. The problem with this is that in 11 hours it will be 10:37pm Sunday night.
Therefor i base my statement on the fact that it cuts off a few hours to your egg.

Since the egg can hatch in the bank, there is a way to get more than one each week. You buy an egg then go to Dalaran and bank it. Repeat as many times as you like. This is amazing for mount/pet grinding, as giant bank bags/too much money, can make your chances of getting the mount near certain.

Does not matter if you bank the egg or not. Its still unique, you cant carry more than 1 egg at a time.
Tho i tried this and it did not work. so 2 proofs that this is false information.
But yes the egg can hatch in bank.

Ofc like proably most ppl i hope for the Proto Drake. The Drop chance is a bit low, but still, when its 2% chance of getting it every week, u will get it some day:) The Eggs are cheap too. Although they take a week to hatch.

I have yet to get the yolk, I'm on my fourth egg and I've gotten two white tickbirds (on my first and third) and I got the mount on my 2nd (I swear to God that I did). I'm only going for the proto-drake whelp, then I'm done with them.

And for people who want to know:

Yolk: 30%
Tickbird: 21%
White Tickbird: 20%
Cobra: 19%
Proto-Drake Whelp: 8%
Green Proto-Drake Mount: 2%

I have been doing this since december '08...I have gotten every pet, and aged yolk MANY...many times...
Since there is a 2% chance to drop the mount that means after 50 weeks I should get it.
But, the proto-whelp is 8%...and I got him 3 weeks in a row.
Only a 6% differance! :(

I am curious to know if having your 300 Riding (epic flyer) or not will affect the drop of the mount or not. I'm sure it will drop, but be unsuable untill the training has been aquired. Difficult to confirm, but has anyone noted any difficulties in aquireing the mount without the riding?

I've gotten an egg every week since 2 weeks after WotLK came out.

So far i've gotten everything (multiple times) EXCEPT the drake OR the drake pet.

I guess i'm just unlucky, though i have made a bit of money from my extra pets on the AH.

Something that no one else has mentioned is that you can gain rep from killing members of the oppositie faction; i.e if you're friendly with the Oracles and kill a member of the Frenzy tribe, your reputation with them will go up by 1.

I will confirm this tonight, however as far as I know rep gain is distributed in even number, and my current non-human rep with them stands at 13,001.

Wow, I must be lucky to the extreme! I had a hell of a time getting the rep quest complete with the Oracles in the first place I had to defeat the lich 3 times! the oracle would never give me the quest to turn in to start the daily's. once I did I got to revered and got my first egg last Wednesday and today I opened my egg I got the mount. I had not seen the stats of the rareness of the mount but I have seen many with one so perhaps the 2% has been raised? Normally I'm not that lucky with things like that in WOW...

So, how long can it take to get the egg that gives you that kewl green proto-drake? Well forever is a possibility, like all drops that are not 100%. Some ppl might give you some formula on how many eggs you need to get = guaranteed you will get it; it's close to BS, imo.

You might get it first egg, or in ten years from now. 'Drop' is 2%.

I've had an egg every week since jan/feb 2009, it's now october, I only get yoke or pets noone wants of the 40 or so eggs I have carried around for a week.

One day I'll get it, and maybe it will become a Feat of Strength some day.

If you egg says '0 hours left' all of the sudden hours and not days as you know it is, you'll need to do a /reload ui or disable addons and the real time will show again. Lost 2 eggs this way, because I asked a GM what was going on. The GM suggested to just get a new one. So GM's are not all knowing.

Fact it not being 168h to the min, but 164h or less, might be what a friend of mine claims, that Azeroth is not on a 24h cycle like Tellus :) Well....

I got my protodrake on my first character after about 20 purchases. I have however nother two exhaulted characters and I have been buying them every week since before my main got hers. I cant seem to get a protodrake on the others. Anyone know if its one per account?

All I got was Aged Yolk however so I don't know if the chances for pets/mount is still there. I only changed to knock out the achievements and then plan on changing back.

If anyone else feels like trying this (maybe you already have the green proto?)go for it and let us know what comes out!

I opened 32 eggs before this patch and never got the mount so this is good news for people still trying to get it, 7 days was too long. Previously i received 4 Cobras, 9 White Tickbirds, 8 Tickbirds, 3 Proto-Drake Whelps and 8 Aged Yolk.

Worth noting for those of you looking for a quick way to get to Sholazar every three days to buy this now that Dalaran is sans-portals: You can port to Uldum and fly up to Un'Goro Crater to use the Waygate that connects to Sholazar after completing the quest chain. This is much faster than taking a boat/zeppelin to Northrend and reasonably faster than even porting to the Argent Tournament via the tabard.

Got my ticket answered today, and an email with a replacement egg attached. But when I clicked to retreive it to my bags it dissapeared again. Made a new ticket and in a few hours got a new egg. This time it worked, but only another hatchling :(

I just logged in for the second time now and it seems my Mysterious Eggs are deleting themselves. Any idea if this is a bug? There are no notifications when I log in to say its been opened, and no loot in my bags, it just vanishes. I'd like to point out that this can be sold to a vendor, for a whopping 75 silver, no matter how much time is remaining -- for some pointless reason.
If you go on long Archaeology crawls, (and who doesn't?) and have your bag filled with gray nonsense common items, only to fall upon a vendor for your gold... do be careful.

I bought one three days ago after my last two vanished and all the GM would do was say "it's a known issue, we're looking into it." The one I just got did actually hatch and stay though I do admit to getting to it within a few minutes of it being ready to click on.

Does anyone know if you have to move faction up to Exalted to get the Drake even if it's only Revered for the egg? A few guildies have said they only got it after hitting Exalted.... so I'm just curious if it matters or not...

Reputation has nothing to do with the drop rate of the egg's contents. All it affects is at what reputation level you can buy it. The reason most of your guildies were exalted when they received the mount is because they probably completed the oracle dailies every time they picked up new eggs or even everyday in between. If you look at the drop rate of the mount and how many times you need to complete the dailies to go from revered to exalted you'll see its quite easy to get to exalted long before getting the mount unless your very lucky of course.

A chat today with a GM confirmed that there is indeed an issue with the eggs at the moment. He told me that they are being deleted three days after they crack, so I should make sure to claim the contents during the three day window. Unfortunately, I'm not even seeing the cracked egg as mine seem to be getting deleted just before they crack, so I've lost three this way.

interesting. double-boxing a couple of characters together, and they both experienced the "disappearing egg" problem. filed tickets for each of them.

one Blizzard GM responded with some additional details about this specific problem, indicated that they were aware of the problem, that the problem would be fixed in a future release, that buying these eggs was probably not recommended at the moment, included a complementary replacement egg, and solicited GM feedback.

the other Blizzard response was a generic form letter, basically completely vacuous, indicating only that they were aware of "the problem". no information, no suggestions, and definitely no complementary replacement egg.

clearly, your mileage can vary widely.

edit: was logged in for the next batch of hatched eggs (two characters). they did not evaporate upon hatching (got vanity pets, no mount, but the eggs were there). a third character on roughly the same timer was able to log in and harvest an egg right after that. so, they definitely do not disappear immediately upon hatching.

WORKAROUND for patch 4.1:

To get the Uovo Spaccato, you must be online with the char, while the timer expires.

This worked yesterday with my Uovo Misterioso.
I opened it a few minutes after it cracked, after another tournament quest round, when back in Sholazar Basin.
I got the the Cucciolo di Cobra , ... again ...

This is currently very bugged. If you do not open it in time and you log out it may disappear. It is very easy to happen since it's only an insignificant item that leads to an achiv, not something someone has on mind all the time. Also one may log out accidentally via a crash or disconnect.

Could just be a fluke but I put the egg in my bank and it did indeed turn into a Cracked Egg rather than disappear like my others have been while in my inventory. I'll try it again. It's not a permanent fix but it's worth a try :)

Just got the Green Proto Drake on the 8th drop. Since it's a 5% drop, just think of it this way: If you keep buying eggs every three days, odds are that you will AT LEAST get this egg in 2 months. Not too bad, just keep at it.

They had to have upped the drop rates on the special drops from the egg as of 5.4 or I have been obscenely lucky. I just started buying these eggs after getting exalted a few weeks ago, and in the 5 eggs that I've opened, I've received 2 proto-drake whelps and 2 reins of the green proto-drake. These hatch every 3 days after acquiring them, and the time moves even when you're not logged on. So since you'll be needing to buy one every 3 days, or if you're simply working on The Oracles dailies, there's an easy way to get to Sholazar Basin from Dalaran without having to fly through Icecrown or Wintergrasp (if you're not an Engineer).

Take the quest Where in the World is Hemet Nesingwary? and speak to Archmage Pentarus and take his flying machine. He will conjure a portal that takes you to Wildgrowth Mangal in Sholazar Basin (a small trip away to Rainspeaker Canopy). However, do not turn in the quest to Monte Muzzleshot who is nearby after the small RP attack in the sky. You will be able to take Pentarus' portal every time you're in Dalaran, whenever you need a quick port to Sholazar Basin.

EDIT: As of 6.0, if you had the quest previously mentioned in your quest log, it is replaced by Welcome to Sholazar Basin and will not let you re-take the quest, so this trick may not be working anymore. At least, that's what happened to me.

It's important to differentiate this from the Uovo Misterioso in Frostfire Ridge; this may grant you one of several pets or a rare mount, while the other only contains the Cacciatore di Frutta pet.

For the record, it seems that having this in your bag will prevent Primal Egg from dropping in the Isle of Giants, but you can still purchase this egg while you have a Primal Egg and have both in your bag at the same time.

You might have already figured this much out, but you do need to be revered with The Oracles in order to purchase the Mysterious Egg from Green (which will, of course, turn into the Cracked Egg which has a chance of containing the Reins of the Green Proto-Drake).

The Oracles and Frenzyheart Tribe

Be aware that once you choose a reputaition questline, you will immediately go to Hated 0/36000 with one, and Honored 1/12000 with the other.

Switching from the Tribù dei Cuorferoce to Tribù degli Oracoli - or - from Tribù degli Oracoli to Tribù dei Cuorferoce requires that you engage Artruis il Senzacuore.
He is located in a cave just east of The Lifeblood Pillar in Bacino di Sholazar, Northrend. Coordinates cave entrance /way 70.9, 58.7.

When the boss reaches 30%, he will release his two frozen minions, now chained: Zepik il Cacciatore di Gorloc and Jaloot.

Killing Zepik il Cacciatore di Gorloc first will give you the option to start a questline for Tribù degli Oracoli.
One daily La mano degli Oracoli, which leads to Il ritorno dell'amico pelleasciutta.

Killing Jaloot first will give you the option to start a questline for Tribù dei Cuorferoce.

The respawn-time for Artruis il Senzacuore is ca 2 1/2 minute.
