This item is only usable in Zul'Drak, so you can't pretend to be a Scourge anywhere you want. :(

Using this item gives you a buff: Scourge Disguise - "Enshrouds you in a temporary Scourge disguise. WARNING: The disguise is unstable and may begin to wear off unexpectedly." The buff does not have a duration, but it can drop off at any time with a 10 second warning "Scourge Disguise Failing! Find a safe place!" before the buff expires.

Actually, while you can only use it in Zul'Drak, it won't disappear if you go somewhere else, at least didn't for me. Teleported to Dalaran and went to Wintergrasp as a zombie, hehe.

EDIT: This was most likely hotfixed or just a one-time glitch.

Mining does not break the disguise.

Addition: Neither does Hand of Protection or Divine Shield. I suspect other shielding spells (at least non damage afflicting) don't either.

Trying to mount will break this disguise immediately, causing all nearby mobs to attack you.

Healing will *not* break the disguise, so I'm assuming this could be a fun-item for healers in raids etc. Just travel to Zul'drak, get disguised and then get summoned to the instance. You'd have to avoid having a bad tank, AoE-encounters where everyone gets damaged though. Would be quite the hassle having to go back to Zul'drak everytime you got damaged. :-)

EDIT: Thinking about it, it's actually rather useless for the purpose described above, since it fails approx. every 10 min. Too bad really, since the healing animation is awesome.

A paladin's Eye for an Eye will break this effect, as well as Retribution Aura. So I'm going to make the educated guess that spells such as Damage Shield, Thorns and Reflective Shield will also break it

Here's how to keep the choker:

1) Do the quests that lead up to using the choker to buy the Bitter Plasma (Suit up!)
2) Pick up the quest Feedin' da Goolz from Gristlegut and purchase 1 stack of Bitter Plasma (the linked page shows its an Alliance quest, but I did it as a Tauren druid)
3) Complete Suit up! but don't pick up the next quest. Drop Feedin' da Goolz (which will NOT prompt you to delete the choker) and you will still have this choker.

Oddly enough you can't use this in a shapeshifted form as a druid, except for doomkin form. You still keep the Master Shapeshifter (if talented) and Moonkin Form buffs, so you still keep the 370% armor increase and immunity to polymorph. If you're in caster and you shapeshift to doomkin, you stay disguised, and vice versa. You can still cast buffs, but entering combat seems to drop the disguise, regardless of what you attack. Just found this immensely interesting as a druid.

Rogues,
Stealth, and Vanish does breaks it.
CoS, Evasion and Sprint doesnt.

From my experience and from seeing the comments here:
Any beneficial spell and abilities (heals, buffs, blinking, sprinting, gathering, crafting, bandaging, etc) will -NOT- break the disguise. Using items such as trinkets won't break it either as long as they don't have an 'attack' effect.
Any harmful spells or abilities will break the effect.

(Bloody banchees can see through the disguise. Damn ghosts.)

Does anyone know where you get the initial drop for this? What the item name is and what it drops off of? I finished it, but my brother is trying to start the quest chain, and we can't find the information for the initial drop anywhere.

If you lost your Ensorcelled Choker you can allways get it back from Stefan Vadu

but be carefull, when i asked mine back he said here you go but didn't give it to me. I didn't understand why at first but when I tried it again while I was not mounted he gave it back.

Unholy DK Bone Shield, Summon Ghoul and the generic DK horn of winter do not break the disguise. The second one is especially fun because you can do the quests you get as two ghouls instead of just one.

Hunters, i lost my choker, and couldnt get it back (even tho it said he did give it)
had to dismiss my pet and ask again to receive it.

I went back to finish this chain after abandoning it long ago. I can pick up the next quest from Stefan just fine, but not matter what I try (dismounting, dismissing my Felguard) he always says "here you go", but I don't get the choker.

For some reason, when I switched into my human form (I'm a Worgen) he gave it to me.

Gift of Naaru for Draeneis won't break it. Also if you're a hunter you should use Aspect of the Cheetah/Pack and can use disengage and feign death without breaking.

As a mage, mirror image did not break the disguise and i ran around with 3 other ghouls holding my staff...

All benefitial Non-Combat (Blink healing shields etc) will not break the shapeshift. Also it is nice to benefit your minions once you pursuade them.

Too bad another transformation item can't be used anywhere outside the zone. Another potential fun item bites the dust.

Monks can use Zen Flight with this disguise on. The breaking of the disguise doesn't remove the cloud either! Putting the disguise back on does, however.

Amusingly, a monk's Zen Flight does not break this; the ghoul just sort of straddles the cloud, animation-less, as you float about. Reapplying the disguise does break Zen Flight, but only at the end of the cast, making it a safe place to reapply the disguise in hostile territory, as long as you're not *too* far off the ground.

And while in Scrouge costume you can pick up the Quest: Da Ghoulz from Gristlegut - run around and feed Bowels 'N' Brains to the starving ghouls and pick up a nice green. Also, as an asider, was able to get the Achievement: It's Happy Hour Somewhere" when I drank one of the Bitter Plasma beverages while in Scourge form.

Your disguise CAN fail and fall off while you're standing in front of Drakuru, but he just becomes uninteractable. He doesn't do anything. Just stands there patiently as you put your disguise back on right in front of his face and go back to handing in your quest like nothing happened. Overlord Drakuru for Scourge Employee of the Month.
