This item is now obtainable as of patch 2.4.3.

Speak with the Dark Iron Brewer located upstairs in the Grim Guzzler in Black Rock Depths. After talking to the NPC about the ingredients in the beer, he'll fall asleep - or, more accurately, 'pass out drunk' - allowing you to loot the mug he'll have dropped.

Drink up and enjoy the transformation into Dark Iron Dwarf!

**Note that the item is unique, so if you want to use it later either save it or pick up an extra after you've used the first. Effect lasts 1 hour.

Just a bit of a heads up if you intend to kill Plugger, the guy will aggro you if in range even when he's "sleeping", probably a bug.. He doesn't stand up when attacking you, just sort of glides after you, still on the sleeping animation, but he hits you at the same time.

Lasts 60 minutes and gets you even more drunk when you drink it, it will always transform you not just sometimes. And you can loot as many times as you like, so drink one right away and then take a new one before leaving.

You can use it before you pick up another one. So you can walk away with the dwarf form and also the dire brew.

As a male character, If you use this immediately after using enough Pygmy Oil to become a female gnome, you become a female Dark Iron Dwarf.

If you use mirror image while under the effect of dire brew....When you click on the dwarves they will say hello to you and stuff.

Not sure if its all mounts, but on my Human Death Knight, I drank this and then mounted onto a Brewfest Kodo and upon removing the buff, the mount stayed the normal size, but I was extremely small.

either bugged or removed with 4.0.1, but on 2 seperate trips to BRD the mug was not on the ground anymore after drinking with the brewer and thus no more dire brew :(

I am also sad to confirm that AS OF PATCH 4.0 "Dire brew" no longer spawns after talking to "Dark Iron Brewer"

For anyone still interested if its a bug or intended, had a little conversation with a GM. He said he can't get the Dire Brew himself, it is a bug and will get fixed. :)

I made a list of gimmick items which you can use to transform your character into a different form or race or even gender to play around with. I didn't add items like weapons that provide a procc with a transform effect that only lasts a few seconds even though I know about them. My intention was to list all items with controlable transformations. Feel free to let me know if I missed an item!

Unfortunately this awesome Brew doesn't work all the time anymore. It only works during Brewfest now. I contacted a GM when I was getting annoyed that this thing hadn't drop for me in the longest time.

Patch 4.2 still no fix I believe. People have been saying that it's a bug that the dwarf doesn't drop the brew anymore. I can confirm this. After 3 runs he didn't drop it. He didn't even pass out/fall to the floor. I couldn't do anything else after he said, "Oh... I'm feeling groggy..." Hopefully they will fix this.

I managed to get the Dire Brewer to drop the mug yesterday. Am there again now and he isn't dropping again. Can confirm he STILL drops sometimes but not every time. We are now resetting over and over to see if we can get it again. For now I am leaving my spare mug in my bags for a later date :) It does seem like a bug but isn't always bugged.

Still no luck in obtaining the Dire Brew even though the Brewfest is smoothly running already. Finished the dialog about 5 times now to no avail. I just hope Blizzard will fix this as swiftly as possible, seeing as you can only obtain the brew for 2 weeks now.

I asked a GM if it was intended to be unobtainable outside of brewfest and while the event was on, and he came back with this response:

"I can confirm it's currently unattainable, and development is aware but whether or not they will ever change this, and when, is anyone's guess i'm afraid. "

"Regrettably it would seem this is not a high priority."

It looks like it may never be fixed, but as said, no-one really knows. Bad times :(

As far as I'm aware Dire Brew wasn't intentionally removed. We've asked our developers to take a look, and to either fix it or to provide clarification. We'll be adding it to our bug report sticky as 'under investigation', and we'll post any updates we receive there:

Despite what some GMs may have said, this item was not fixed/restored during the recent Brewfest. I checked repeatedly during the event, including hearthing out and teleporting back in using Telecomando di Birranera and drinking with that lush of a dwarf until my poor toon should have passed out stone drunk, but the Birra Nera never dropped. Bah.

Dire Brew is once again available! I ported in with my mole machine to get to MC faster, got drunk with the Dark Iron Brewer (as I always have) & to my surprise! I saw the mug of Dire Brew on the floor once more! REJOICE!

/edit When I went back & got drunk with him about an hour later, no Dire Brew spawned... Strange.

I reported this bug (again) and it finally made on the Patch 4.3.4 Known Bugs and Issues list!

As Mug of Dire Brew no longer spawns, there is no way to earn Dire Brew.

the same thing happened to me that happened to flaipwns.. i got the dire brew right after the mists patch then went back a day later and talked to him and nothing dropped. i thought something was weird about it so i left the instance reset and came back in 4 more times only to find the same thing happened. put a ticket in with blizz to figure out whats going on. i will follow up

Last night December 24 when i used my Direbrew's remote-
The Dark Iron brewer finally dropped the Mug on the floor. *reallife friend is my witness*
Today i went to BRD again, it wasnt there.
I hope Blizzard is fixing this.

I can confirm, went to BRD at about 9:20pm server time (Smolderthorn/coalesced realm time) on 4 Dec 2013
Went through the RP, the first time he didn't drop it, so I started again, once the NPC passed out from all of the "brew sampling" the item dropped, on the floor, in a cloud of reddish brown smoke.

Just like old times.

I was able to drink one and save one for later.
I'm so happy it's back.

Go through the dialog until he "passes out". Now don't bother clicking on him, he is not lootable. Instead, look around him. The mug is on the floor near him.

As you are probably drunk too, everything in the room is blurry, including the Mug which is shrouded in some red fog. Easily missed.

You can use these repeatedly, the buff doesn't get refreshed, instead you get an additional one every time you use it. 31 stack is the highest i've got, could maybe get 32 without the weekly Draenor Dungeon buff. You can also loot the brew, drink it to get the buff, and loot one again to get 2 hours of appearance out of your trip.

For those of you who need this Cucciolo di Drago Fatato Solare but may be new to the game or otherwise have no idea how to navigate Blackrock Depths to get to the Grim Guzzler:

As you enter the instance, it will be tempting to use the Abandoned Mole Machine, to your right, to take you "Just past the Grim Guzzler". However, you will end up on the other side of locked bar door, so you won't be able to get into the Grim Guzzler this way.

So as you enter, turn left, toward Galamav the Marksman (one of the tauren NPC quest givers). Go through the steel bar door next to him, then take the first right and go through another steel bar door.
A bit ahead, there will be a troll NPC named Razal'blade standing by the wall to your left. Next to him, is the East Garrison Door - go through that door.
After you enter the East Garrison - don't run up the ramp just yet! Go straight ahead, toward the giant cogwheel-shaped thing with the Dark Iron logo (fire and anvil) hanging off the ceiling. There is a mechanism underneath it (when you mouse over it, your cursor will turn into a cogwheel). Click this mechanism to unlock the exit door.
Now go up the ramp (two flights - you don't want to end up in the Ring of Law). Turn left, and keep turning left, walking through the "garrison" until you get to the exit door. At this point your location should change to Shadowforge City.
Keep running down the hallway and through the West Garrison. Take the ramp on your right down to the Manufactory (the ramp on your left is a dead end). About halfway through the Manufactory, turn to your right, there is an exit back into Shadowforge City. You'll see a stone bridge over the lava, guarded by four Fireguard Destroyers. Go across the bridge and through the door on the other side - and you're at the Grim Guzzler!

Edit: as comment below points out, Alliance quest givers have different names.
