To obtain a credit, you must first summon your Ethereal Soul-Trader which is done by using the Soul-Trader Beacon. The beacon is a reward from Landro Longshot in Booty Bay, as part of the Trading Card game.

Once the Soul-Trader is summoned, you must kill players or NPCs which are no less than eight-levels below you. For example, if you're a Level 70 player, you will not obtain a credit for killing a Level 61 player or NPC.

If you find that your Soul-Trader is not giving you credits, unsummon him by reusing the item, and then summon him again. This tends to fix the problem.

This item was tested on the PTRs as of v. 0.4.3 (8478).

Once your Ethereal Soul-Trader is by your side and you get Ethereal Credit you can buy from him a armor set that looks well not so nice. Also he sells you some other stiky stuff.

In order to get a Credit you MUST land the killing blow on the monster if you are not soloing. Failure to do so will result in nothing. Except, maybe experience or loot from the monster.

Best place I've found to farm these Credits is in the mines of Alterac Valley.

Around 80 mobs per mine

But if you kill the mobs to fast you dont always get a credit for each, when I've killed the 5 mob pats the trader has only given me 4 credits. It seems to happen when a mob dies when the trader is stealing the essence from the previous mob.

The ABSOLUTE best place to farm credits for this guy is in Netherstorm at the northern entrance/exit to Manaforge Duro. There are 4 or 5 mana wyrm things that spawn every two seconds or so. They are easy to kill in one shot (Im a HOLY priest, so if I can do it, anyone can!) and easily the fastest way to farm kills. You can get credits as fast as you can cast spells... I farmed over 1000 in an hour.

It takes a total of 2200 Killing Blows to get the full set of clothing from the Soul Trader. You can even steal the killing blow from the opposite faction. As long as you get the last hit in, whether it is your mob or not, you get a credit.

I have the guy and I assume no one else gets the credit since I cannot see a message in the logs, this mean it is completly useless... why would other people even have the need to click to it? no idea. Would have been epic if at least people could sell to it, same as the turtle mount, pointless, they should make it at least %60 speed. The thing that !@#$es me off about it is that every time I try and loot a mob I keep click him:)

Another quick and easy place to farm credits is in the Culling of Stratholme. Once the first wave of scourge pops, you can go to the left to the King's Square and farm the zombies. They pop up relatively fast and you don't need to go near the first wave. Farm to your content!

My new favorite place to farm credits is in Storm peaks where you do the "Overstock" daily quest. Pick up the quests in K3 and go drop a bunch of mines down for the enemies (who wont attack you) to run into. Kills stack up quickly with no downtime and the credits add up very quickly.

New best place to farm Ethereal Credits (for level 80s and beyond!)

The vehicle event just before Flame Leviathan in Ulduar!

Summon your Soul Trader, shoot some of the many many many iron dwarves and just watch the credits roll in!

This farming spot should last through Cataclysm because the mobs should still be "green" to you at level 85.

Hey everyone, its Xyanyde again with another Ethereal Credit farming tip!

Theres a quest in Vash'jir called L'inseguimento where you have to kill 20 fleeing Zin'Jatar Fathom-Stalkers. They give you a special spear that kills them in one shot and they spawn endlessly. You dont even have to target any mob in particular, just hotkey and spam it! Each kill nets you a credit, I farmed up a few thousand and threw them in the bank for a rainy day.

Sadly, this can only be done during this particular quest so farm it up while you can!

If you're still farming credits, a great place to get them is a Lion's Landing in Krasarang Wilds (83,21) for Horde. There's Shieldwall Peasants here with 13.8k health. They respawn fast and tend to walk around in packs. In 10 minutes I've been able to get over 100 credits.

Just got this guy, at 90 the flies in silken fields or Dread Wastes work well but you need to single target to get credits for each. if you aoe them down youll get one only from the group.

The fastest way I've found to farm the credits at level 90 is in Zul'Gurub, go to the hut with the Master Chef and go to the top of the building. Start aoe'ing the neutral villagers and refugees, they instantly respawn when killed. I farmed 300 in less than 10 mins and with a stronger AoE I'm sure it would be even better.

Note that you won't receive any Ethereal Credit if you are not in line of sight of your pet at the end of his "leech soul" animation. So keep this in mind if you are in a zone heavily obstructed by objects or wall.

I recently acquired a soul trader of my own and I found a great place to farm these credits at 90 is the Molten Front, right by the main quest hub. The mobs are endless and really easy to take down with aoe!

All mobs must be green, yellow, orange, or red in order to grant Ethereal Credits. For anyone with the intention of making a stayer on The Wandering Isle, it is VERY important for you to gather these as early as possible, once you get too high of a level nothing on the isle will be green anymore. Grey mobs will not award any Ethereal Credits.

For low level Neutral Pandaren:
Aside from the mobs outside the Training Grounds that are level 2 and respawn quick, Fe-Feng village on the Wandering Isle is a great place to farm these, they have level 7 mobs which give very little experience gain but give a credit for each one that you kill. Respawn is very quick.

Best place to farm as WoD is the Sprite event on the Temp Isle, you turn the friendly sprites into enemies by clicking a purple crystal, then you have 1 min to massacre as many as you can. Those mobs are green.
Also, this is the best way to finish the 250 mob quest from the DMF. Everything is lees than one minute!

Of course, you have to have a strong AoE damage. Im an Arcane Mage and Arcane Explosion kills them in one or to explosions.

If you're going to farm credits as a level 1 character, the easiest way is by killing critters. The absolute best place I've found for farming (as level 1) is in the Deeprun Tram, because the rats there will respawn instantly.

Go to the Ironforge side of the Deeprun Tram and start killing rats. Try to find a respawn point for one of them and kill it over and over again. Getting enough credits to buy the whole set will take you about 1-2 hours. Remember to equip a fast weapon as any hit will kill the rat.

So, for those looking for quick ways to grind out tokens in the current patch, I'd try scenarios. As a level 100 mage, I had no problem crashing through adds. Repeatedly playing Blood in the Snow and clearing all adds, I was able to farm all 2200 tokens needed for a full set of transmog gear in the space of an hour. If you're going to do it this way, I'd do it now before 7.0 and the level cap is raised.

If you've fully upgraded your withered, a great place to farm these in Legion is the Withered Training scenario. Re-summon your Ethereal Soul-Trader (if you go into the instance with him out, you'll see him, but he won't give you credit for kills). Make your way through the scenario normally until you get to the area where the Psillych Spiderlings rush down the stairs indefinitely. Use Mayhem! to berserk your withered, and watch the Ethereal Credits roll in. Note that your withered will eventually make their way up the stairs and tag the boss, so order them back to you occasionally.

You could probably knock them all out in a single run, but as a Blood Death Knight that is forced to do this scenario for my artifact appearance, I just farmed to whatever score I wanted, then ended every run by getting a few stacks of Ethereal Credits.

Hello everyone! I just found a pretty fast way to farm these after you have reached 120 in Battle for Azeroth. If you go to the Legion dungeon, Darkheart Thicket on Normal difficulty, there is an area just before Dresaron that is filled with eggs that will pop Hatespawn Whelpings that are 110 and therefore still grant experience, so they will grant the credits upon death. The best part is that the eggs respawn rather quickly, so they can be farmed over and over without needing to leave the instance. This, of course, can be done of any difficulty, but I figured Normal would be the fastest. Using this method allowed me to farm well over 1k credits in approximately 30 minutes. I hope this helps!

I found an excellent way to farm Credito Etereos fast while we are still in Shadowlands.

The trick is to visit Ardenweald and farm Larva di Gorm located in 60.0 31.4 when the world quest Schiaccia e brucia is active. You simply have to run over them and they count for the kill, and since you can run over them so quickly you end up collecting large amounts of Credito Etereos quickly.

These are highly farmable in Torghast, including Layer 1s. I will say that you don't get a credit for every kill. It seems if things die too quickly you won't get awarded anything, so keep that in mind.

For anyone farming these in Dragonflight; Honey Plums are an exceptionally easy grind while Low Hanging Fruit is up. They respawn very quickly and die instantly to any ranged ability. Have fun!

having looked through the various methods of farming this and which might be out of date due to expansions and whatnot, what i found is that even though torghast and darkheart may not be functional on your main level 70 toon, chances are you will still have alts that are lower and as this is a pet that can be summoned on any toon and the mogs can be learned via any toon most of the methods are in fact still valid.

while i did try a few methods that were all good (dragon isles plums, ardenweald gorm) i found that those that were dependent on world quests were problematic.

in the end i took a level 50 toon to darkheart thicket and farmed whelps at approx 1.5 second kill intervals and got what i needed fairly quickly, there is always enough eggs without any real downtime.

edit: dont let the trader get too far from you, he can look like he is collecting souls but not paying you for them.

The Brakenhide Waterhole (/way 22, 40) in Vastità Azzurra has a pretty high mob density. Super easy to farm there as a tank, but tanky DPS specs might be able to farm there without much issues as well. Most mobs have around or under 200k HP, some of them as low as 30-50k I believe.

Just try and stagger your killing blows when packs get low, as the soul-trader can't zap too many mobs at once (based on other comments, seems to be around 1.5 sec).

you can shoot honey plum in ohnahran plains dragon flight, around 63 57 . it is on the tree and u can 1 shoot the plum. remember to summon ur pet before doing so. 1 plum 1 credit

I was looking for somewhere good in Dragonflight with the previously mentioned world quests unavailable.

I found Goccia Eruttante worked quite well, the spawns are never-ending and they head outside.

Found a nice farmspot in Ohnaran Plains -> Shady Sanctuary: There is a little cave at 24.52 58.65 with instantly respawning Pinebacks. No worldquest needed so it should be possible to farm all credits you need in one go.

Edit2: Seems there actually is some kind of limit to the respawn rate. After looting ~40-50 Pinebacks they stopped spawning for about 3-4 minutes, then started spawning again.
Might still be a good Credito Etereo spot.

Edit3: Commerciante d'Anime Etereo won´t drain the essence if we kill too many mobs at once. So the simple solution is to just kill enough to keep him busy and they will keep spawning indefinitely.

There needs to be a pause between killing the mobs. AOEing and killing a big pack at the same time will only net you one credit. If you kill one by one, with about 0.5-1 sec interval inbetween, then the trader will be able to consume all of the killed mobs. A bit unfortunate.
