Cannot pick up Zerking buff to make it grow.
It is possible to Feign death and quickly summon this so it appears you are dead while controlling this so you can bait others for pvp flag.

I believe that it has a 100% drop chance in one of the presents. Everyone got a clockwork robot last year and it's just the same this year. Just with the racer instead.

Since there are 8 different presents, and 8 days to collect them in (or 9 if you still can throughout 2. January) does that mean you can only collect 1 each day, and have to do it this way if you want all the presents? Or is it possible to open them all in one day?

It also counts in the upper screen how many kills you did in one round. Is there also an extra achievement for killing x rockets in one round?
With 'extra' I mean not the obviously Winterveil achievement as shown in the logs.

In Ironforge and Orgrimmar, there will be a big Christmas tree with a pile of presents underneath (during Winter Veil, of course). In IF, it's right outside the bank. In Org, it will be somewhat between the AH and the bank.

From December 25 to January 1, there will be 6 presents under the tree that will have a big yellow "!" over each. You can click on each to accept them like quests, but in lieu of actual quests you get gifts/ presents. (As they behave like quests, it's okay if other people are also clicking on them to accept them. You can still get yours.)

1. Carefully Wrapped Present : gives food

3. Ticking Present : mainly gives a 3-time-use combat pet or a buff item

6. Crashin' Thrashin' Racer Controller : basically a toy that you can control to fight other toys. No duration or limited use on this one.

You have to be level 10 at least to get this present (as well as all 5 presents).
It looks much like the Wowhead rocket icon, but with wheels and a green flag on the back.

The item is a unlimited use item that stays in your inventory, has a 15 second cooldown, and looks like one of the engineering widget icons.

On use, you control the 'pet' rocket car (much like eyes of the beast) for 5 minutes and you're supposed to try to ram into other rocket cars. The attack propels you forward with a flame behind your car. It seems to auto-lock on to cars to a certain extent, but it can be avoided if they go sideways. The attack has a 6 second cooldown.

You can jump while controlling it. And it does seem to pick up aura effects.

If you car blows up by being attacked, you'll have to wait for the 15 second cooldown to re-summon.
On hunters (and I assume warlocks), using this despawns your currently active pet and the pet does not come back until you resummon it.

Just got mine. It has one primary attack. It dashes forward and if it hits another racer the other 1 blows up. It can hop too.

Does not break stealth upon use. So to other players it will just appear out of nowhere. Lot's of fun running around lowbie zones!

Also, this pet is attackable and will aggro mobs, but when it is killed, the mob will not automatically aggro you!

I was fooling around with this item in RFC, while waiting for my ghetto hearth and noticed a few intresting "features".

- The pet can agro mobs, and will not put the player into combat when it despawns.
- Using this item while in stealth does not unstealth you.
- The pet which is Summoned is lvl 60 and has 2442 hp.
- Lasts 5 min or until it has run out of range or hp.

This could be an interesting way to sneak through instances and farm bosses. It worked in RFC I'm assuming the same would apply to higher lvl instances.

oh and a weird thing I also noticed. I tried to turn off its name tag and the car is apparently counted as an enemy pet. No idea what this can be used for but just thought it was worth noting.

I have only managed to obtain 10 kills before ultimately blowing up in a cloud of smoke. :( It's a rather challenging game with 4 or more people playing in one area.

Not sure if this has been posted, but it seems you can aggro mobs using these Racers. Tonight during Naxx we sent a line to Noth and he glitched and wiped the raid, we had a great time doing it though.

This is great for pulling mobs and doing recon... you can deploy it without breaking stealth also! If somebody is really being annoying you can pull a bunch of mobs and die next to the target player and they will get swarmed! =D

As I haven't seen it mentioned yet:

This item for 2008 winter veil(and the Clockwork Rocket Bot for 2007 - now unattainable) is looted from the Winter Veil Gift.
This gift becomes available on December 25th and can be looted from under the Christmas tree in IF or ORG.
You do NOT get any xp for opening the presents, so if you're twinking you can safely open them without the fear of dinging.

As for the Crashin' & Thrashin' achievement - If you "die" during the run, the "kill counter" does not reset. So if you're in a racer crowded place, I.E. IF bank area, and you only get one "kill" for every time you "die" yourself - Don't worry. It all adds up.
Just keep at it and eventually you'll get it complete.

I begun messing around at Gnomeregan when I was bored, and let the racer race through gnomes, who attacked it.

Soon after, died from Ret aura. It was funny...running from a tiny car.

It's been noted already that the racer will aggro bosses and the like. However, be sure to also consider it will start 'trigger initiated scripted sequences', such as boss encounters that start by simply walking into the room, or bosses that have some sort of 'startup' script or speech before actually engaging. It's aggro radius appears very small, often requiring you to be inside the targeting circle, despite being level 60, even on naxx bosses. People will often aggro with the racer thinking "well if it did aggro it would have by now right?".

We managed to beat the 4 horseman in Naxx25 simply by starting a pull unexpectedly and unprepared with a racer, since the horsemen are scripted to come running to the corners. This is our guilds e-patented strategy, don't tell the internets please.

if you are low level and can't really pull yourself, in a dungeon use it and you can pull monsters and idiotic players.

also in battlegrounds a good idea is to Stealth,Shadowmeld,or more then use it to scope put the flag.

(in SFK it can be used to pull the undead without being stunned)
(in RFC if you are running somone you can pull w/o dangering the lower level you are running)

it can also swim!

(there are also many more things to do with it)

Just a note, these can be useful to skip bosses in instances by making it reset.

I used it on Hadronox's mobs to reset the encounter. Our group was then able to run down to where he starts and burn him before any adds show up. The first pull still has to be killed afterwards though.

Unfortunately, Molten Armor + Molten Shields will cause your Armor to damage mobs whom attack your Crashin' Thrashin' Racer, giving you unfortunate agro! Make sure to use Molten Armor with caution when messing around and agroing random things with your Racer!

For a bit of extra fun, you can play with these in Naxx near the slimes or outside Mimiron's room near the bombs. You have to watch out for other racers AND the road hazards (slimes and bombs.) :)

Horde characters can use this to sneak around the Silver Enclave in Dalaran. All you need is a flying mount (doesn't need to be 280%) and Cold Weather training. And, obviously, the ability to ride it.

Step 1: Use a flying mount to get to the ledge in the Silver Enclave. Coordinates: approximately 39,60.

Step 2: Use the racer controller and aim for the doorway down the stairs towards the Southeast. Coords: about 41,64 for the door.

Step 3: Use the Racer Rocket Slam ability. This may take a few tries, but if your racer is thrown out just turn off the buff and summon a new one. The trick is to try and crash into the right of the archway, just inside the door.

If you manage to get in the archway then you're home free! You can run all around the Hero's Welcome tavern and the cellar below. You can't go outside though on your racer, and you can't walk in on your character. Unless you're a mage.
Or Alliance.

I would like to comment that if you don't have rogue to see those traps that trigger Deathbound Ward in Icecrown Citadel, and no warlock to use the Eye of Kilrogg, you can use Crashin' Thrashin' Racer Controller. I used it and i was able to trigger the traps far in advance.

This works perfectly for "resetting" Hadronox in Azjol-Nerub if you have no rogue in the group to vanish. Just send the car right in, mobs will reset, and the group can run down to meet the boss below without any ads. Easy way to get Hadronox Denied.

Unfortunately, this cannot be used to spy on the opposing faction's areas in Dalaran. You get ported out as if your character ran in.

Regalo Rubato is obtained from the Winter Veil daily quest Che cattivone... (H)/Che cattivone... (A). It requires you to kill the Abominevole Greench in Hillsbrad Foothills to free Metzen la Renna, as well as to recover Dolce Rubato, which spawn only after the Greench is killed.
The quest can be done 18 times per character over the course of the Winter Veil holiday. As the level requirement is 80, any alts at or above this level can also do this for another Regalo Rubato.

As of 2023, it's been years that the BLUE stolen present (only attainable by lvl 60+ characters), reward of the daily quest You're a Mean One... Che cattivone... (Alliance) and Che cattivone... (Horde) available during all Winter Veil (and not only during the opening of presents) is the only way to obtain this toy.
Note that it existed as an object before toys existed. If you had it at that time, search your bags and banks on any character (as toys are account bound) to turn it into a toy.
If you have lost it or deleted it by mistake... you unfortunately have to do the quest again. Or prove me wrong because it's my case and I've been gathering as much info as I could to write this little guide which I hope will help others! :)
