droprates are deceptive. spent ~2 hours farming 60 of these. more often than not, the lions drop nothing.

Took about 10 minutes to get a full stack of lion meat off the Hulking Mountain Lions and Mountain Lions in Hillsbrad with my 55 hunter. It would have taken less time if I hadn't kept being distracted by ore.. More than half the lions killed dropped the meat and seems like a very viable alternative to farming tangy clam meats for those who want to farm skins at the same time.

Best mobs to farm are the Hulking Mountain Lions (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=2407) and Mountain Lions (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=2406).

I got about 13 in 10 minutes.
Although 40% of what I killed dropped nothing, which was rather frustrating.

Right around Vendetta point (43, 48 Southern Barrens) is a good place to start. Hot Lion Chops is a great recipe from leveling cooking 125-175.

Actually Hillsbrad is still a good place to farm. Around 46,58 just south of the yeti cave there are "Foothill Stalkers" They drop plenty of lion meat... farmed a stack in less that 5 minutes. they have a great respawn rate. Their spawn area is large too from about the sludge field east almost to the road.

As a lvl 60 hunter I pulled 4-5 prowlers+prides by each tree and kept circling the trees until I had enough. I like hillsbrad for the looks and feels of things but this power lvld my cooking by far....

Whooa! I used this tecnicue, started 08.27am with 4 lion meat in inv and as I looked in my bag 08.38am I had 37 meats!: Run a circle round the first big tree, auto shot at anything lion and let your pet sort out the mess behind you, as you come around the first time go a second and loot everything your pet killed, move on to next tree and if im not wrong they will be max spawned if u sigzag across to each tree on each side. (Love my flying mount at this moment! seemed less lions when i ran the trees in order, though i think taking the west side and then the right might save u alot of walking if your not 60 yet :)..)

Can confirm 100% drop rate from Pridemanes around ruins of Camp T. Had tried farming at Hillsbrad but had no luck. They tend do be around the trees in prides of 4-6.

If you farm the Hillsbrad Stalkers, then as both a miner and a skinner you will also be in low-level-mat heaven! Stalkers and Stags both give medium or thick leather and tin veins are everywhere with the occasional silver.

when you play horde and want to hawe easy but slow farm

get the q and than just blow the horn and kill :) it will drop and you can do it forewer

than you can make the best food for f2p twinks

Here is a map i created, if you follow the dots (in any direction) you can find the Plains Pridemane quite often, and some in groups!
They dont seem to pull very far however so you cant round alot up at a time!

As of 15 May 16, the above data on drop rates etc is accurate. I recommend sticking with the prowlers and pride manes in the southern barrens as the primary source for the meat. If you're skinner you get the added bonus of a good amount of heavy leather. I can't confirm other areas but if you're the only one in the area farming the meat, there really isn't a point in going anywhere else

As of time of writing I found exactly one (1) Carne di Leone after killing every lion type mob I found in both northern and southern barrens. Most did not drop any mats at all but could be skinned. I got lots of Frammenti di Cuoio Leggero, Cuoio Leggero and Pelle Leggera from skinning but only one (1) Carne di Leone. The one that dropped was in Savane Meridionali. Very disappointing. Toon is level 60 don't know if that makes a difference. Update: today I had some better luck around Ruins of Taurajo as noted above. Collected 5 very quickly. Save yourself time and start there! Left after collecting 15 - check all around the mid-zone. Still not 100% drop rate but much better.

Definitely a low drop rate. As others have mentioned, around Ruins of Taurajo / Field of Blood was definitely the best drop rate. (still low), but mostly one meat of each lion.
