This is the WotLK version of the Occhio di Leone, the epic yellow gem. Already in the game files at the release of Wrath of the Lich King, it was officially introduced in patch 3.2.0 and can currently be obtained in the following ways:

prospected from Minerale di Titanio;
created by an alchemical transmutation using 1 Bagliore Autunnale and 1 Vita Eterna;
sometimes found inside an Prisma Ghiacciato created by a jewelcrafter;
bought for 220 Justice Points from Arcanista Ivrenne, Magistra Elenie, or Harold Winston in Dalaran;
exchanged for 165 Honor Points from Capitano O'Neal in Stormwind or Dama Palanseer in Orgrimmar.

King's Amber can be cut in the following variations by a 450 Jewelcrafter (the respective designs can be bought from Timothy Jones in Dalaran, Inessera and Nemiha on the Aldor's Rise and Kirembri Peloargento on the Scryers' Tier in Shattrath for 4 Emblema dell'Orefice di Dalaran each):

Ambra Regale Scaltra: +20 Dodge Rating;
Ambra Regale Liscia: +20 Critical Strike Rating;
Ambra Regale Mistica: +20 Resilience Rating;
Ambra Regale Rapida: +20 Haste Rating.

Even though mastery is available as a stat as early as level 80, there is no +Mastery cut of King's Amber available in the game (or any other pre-Cataclysm yellow gem for that matter).

Below is a list of designs that previously utilized King's Amber but were changed with the 4.0.1 patch:

Brilliant King's Amber: +20 Intellect => Rubino Cardinale Brillante;
Rigid King's Amber: +20 Hit Rating => Zircone Ieratico Rigido;
Thick King's Amber: +20 Defense Rating => Ambra Regale Scaltra.

Update (retail build 10192):

Updated the list of epic design vendors;
Corrected the design price from 5 to 4 Jewelcrafter's Tokens.

Update (build 10048):

Epic gem transmutations now have a 20-hour cooldown.
King's Amber now costs 20 Emblema dell'Eroismo, up from 15.
Trasmutazione: Ambra Regale now requires 1 Bagliore Autunnale and 1 Vita Eterna instead of 1 Zircone Ieratico and 2 Vita Eterna.

The following gems can be transmuted by an Alchemist without a cooldown. The link is to a blue post confirming what Alchemists on the PTR are experiencing. I have xmuted dozens in a row and the lack of CD is not a bug. So, expect the epic gems to come more into a reasonable line as far as prices go after a few weeks of the patch.

(6/30/09) Build 10048: The 20 hour CD has been placed on epic xmutes and significant changes have been made to the materials required. The information below has been updated as of the stated build.

(8/6/08) Live Patch 3.2.0: Changed the Eye of Zul requirements to reflect the state which the patch was taken live.

Transmutable gems in 3.2.0 and the required materials:

Cardinal Ruby: 1 Scarlet Ruby and 1 Eternal Fire instead of 3 Eye of Zul
Majestic Zircon: 1 Sky Sapphire and 1 Eternal Air instead of 3 Sky Sapphire
King's Amber: 1 Autumn's Glow and 1 Eternal Life instead of 1 Majestic Zircon and 2 Eternal Life
Dreadstone: 1 Twilight Opal and 1 Eternal Shadow instead of 3 Twilight Opal
Eye of Zul:3 Forest Emerald
Ametrine: 1 Monarch Topaz and 1 Eternal Shadow instead of 1 Majestic Zircon and 2 Eternal Shadow

Patch 4.0.6 - You can purchase this gem King's amber at Dalaran. Each cost 220 justince points I think or around there.

Sigh still a 20 hour cool down for this gem .. seriously beside an engineer who going to make one jeeve who would use it? at this point in the game..

For anyone wondering, as of 5.3, this STILL has a cooldown that resets daily. On top of that, the cd is shared with the CD for my Living Steel transmute. Honestly, this is absurd.

I haven't seen a reference in the comments on this item, or in the (130!) comments for Jeeves, so I'll add... King's Amber can be contained in Sacca di Gemme Grigia that drops from Onyxia. Since she's easy to solo now, if you are farming this gem for Jeeves and have a couple or more max-level alts without extra JP, then it's an alternate and relatively easy way to get them. I'm farming Onyxia for the mount anyway, so this was actually the most time-effective way for me. Hope this helps!

Having CD's on old materials and SHARED CD's with new content is patently ridiculous.

Having a real struggle obtaining these now, since they've removed the ability to buy them from justice vendors. Removing Justice Points from the game was ok, but removing the items that we were able to purchase with them, was not. there are currently 0 Ambra Regale on the AH. not even Bagliore Autunnale so i can transmute. Farming Onyxia for a CHANCE of getting it within Sacca di Gemme Grigia as the only possible farmingspot is ridiculous with its weekly instance CD.

the only thing left to do now is farming Minerale di Titanio and prospect it. which means you need to have a character with mining and JC (and a decent amount of skillpoints) to obtain these yourself.

As mentioned Teiwazgod (4.3), jeanb (5.3) and Deathturtle (6.0) this item is as of 6.2 still on a shared daily cooldown which includes Living Steel. If you need to get more the AH will be your best bet along with running Onyxia on multiple alts for a chance on the gems.

Did this today. Ran Onyxia on four 120 toons and got the Bag of Ashen Gems on all four. Got the Kings Amber from three of them. Took about 6 minutes/toon from Boralus.

Running Onyxia's Lair still seems like the best bet to grab one or two of these if you need them. Took me 5 alts to grab them. Only saw one on the AH over the last week.

Anyone coming for this in the current classic patch as of april 2023 like I did, the King´s Amber are not in the game yet and will be launched next patch in most likely 2 months so no Jeeves yet!
