The quest, Catch a Dragon by the tail, states that the Wyrmtail are in the Dragonmurk and Wyrmbog Areas, however it also says East of town. They are Mainly East of town and difficult to find in any other areas. Easily gathered if they aren't being farmed by other players in abundance. Not a lot of Mobs to take out around these items as well. Another Quest in the Area would be Indentifying the Brood. Easily Paired and done together. :) I hope this helps.

I found a treasure trove of Wyrmtail at about 46,80 and around there. Only a few whelps were flying around and there must have been about 20 plants. I was almost sorry I only needed 8.

Most, if not all, the spawn points for the Wyrmtail seem to be on the eastern side of Mudsprocket.

For some reason, Drywallow Daggermaws show a tooltip that they drop this. But they don't. They are ONLY obtainable from the spawns.
