Strange that the next gem quality below this can only be obtained in Hyjal Summit and requires 375 jewelcrafting and an epic gem from the Black Temple! Whereas this is a better quality gem with lower requirements and uses the popular star of elune to cut. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32286

Unique-Equipped means you can have as many as you want in your inventory at a time, but you may only be wearing one. So you could have this in two different shoulder pieces, and switch them out with regularity, but you cannot stack this gem in every slot.

Does the Unique-Equipped designation only apply to gems of the same color?

For example, would it be possible to equip items with both a red Kailee's Rose +26 healing gem, then also this blue Falling Star +18 stam, or can you only equip one of any JC-only Epic?

Here are all the gems are that are exclusive to jewelcrafters only. Turns a rare quality gem into an epic one. Since they are unique-equipped, you can only have one socketed and equipped at a time. This means it's possible to have more made for multiple gear sets.
