It looks like this stone is only used for Jewelcrafting from the inscription on it, but it seems that it might also act as a Philosopher's stone, judging by the list of objects that this stone is a tool for (alchemy transmutes). Can somebody verify this?

Alchemists make the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=31080 Mercurial Stone (primal earth, life, mana)

Alchemists use it to do transmutes.

Jewelcrafters use it to create things like http://www.wowhead.com/?item=31079 Mercurial Adamantite. If you're a jewelcrafter just ask an alchemist to make you one, or possibly look in the Auction house.

The coords r 22.40 or arround...u climb a hut ..find a bird guy who gives u q .. need to return to him round 40 arrakoa feathers ... then u can use his lab..its a stupid table on the same floor..

Transmutation Masters won't get a proc if they replace their Philosopher's Stone with a Mercurial Stone.

Not sure if this takes up the requirment of the Philosopher's Stone, however (even if it does), remember that you'll need the Philosopher's Stone to make the Alchemist Stone which at that point wouldn't be hard to make another Philosopher's Stone but why waste the time?

I would like to know if any TRANSMUTE MASTER has ever Proc'ed while using the Merc Stone instead of the Phil Stone???

Over 2 months daily Transmutes and NOT ONE PROC while using the Merc Stone for me. If you have used it for a transmute and proc'ed while using it. Please confirm that it can be used by master Transmuters to Proc.

I just noticed that this was a trinket today.
After reading that you no longer need this to make Mecurial Adamantite, I sent this to my tankadin, so he could have a 27 stamina trinket. >_>

Edit: Does anyone know when this was changed into a trinket? Obviously between 2.4.3, and 3.0.8, but can some one pin-point it?

Being the only BoE philosopher's stone, this item is great for allowing a still-levelling alchemist to perform low level transmutes without the need to craft a BoP Philosopher's Stone himself. The level requirement is only for being able to equip it, but it functions as a philosopher's stone just fine for every level 20 that bought it on the AH or off a friend. Once you get your own trinket at level 75, you can always sell the Mercurial Stone on the AH or pass it along to an alt.

You can wear TWO of these trinkets simultaneously if you want to boost your HIT rating significantly. Also, the Stamina bonus is not bad ^^

This is actually a pretty amazing trinket for tanks when you take a few things into consideration:

1.) It's not unique, so you can equip two for 54 stamina and 54 hit. That's about ~700 health for bears and ~700 for paladins, and ~600 for warriors and DKs. (Numbers aren't super dead on since it's buff and talent dependent and you might not have all your buffs/talents while you level, but they're good estimates.) The hit works out to be about 3.4% at level 70, which is amazing for threat gen since most leveling gear lacks hit. Given that mitigation is worth less and less per point as you level, gearing for stam versus busting your butt to reach the def cap each level is a better option.

1a.) Unless your toon is getting boosted through BC raids/heroics or spending a fortune on BC Darkmoon decks, this is the ONLY trinket you can get before 80 that has stamina unless you have a profession. (Alchemy, JC, and Engineering all have trinkets that add stam, but this doesn't help you a bit if you're a tank with gathering or other production profs.) The Mercurial Stone is also unique in that it's literally the only trinket in the game that has both stam and hit on it.

2.) The mats for this are ridiculously easy to get and any given Alchemist above 325 can make this since it's a trainer formula. That means you get two awesome trinkets for basically no work. No instance farming, no questing, you just ask an Alchemist to make these for you and you've got two trinkets that will last you forever.

Easy to get, no professions required, and it lasts you until 80. I love this trinket.

Although there is (sort of) an Alchemy Lab in Acherus: The Ebon Hold it does not qualify as an alchemical laboratory. So wowpedia is incorrect here.

Maybe it works as an Alchemy Lab for DKs, but it did not work for my priest.

I hope that Blizzard either removes the Alchemy Lab requirement from this recipe or adds labs to Dalaran and all classic capital cities.

This trinket is cheapest alternative of philosophers stone, at level 90, before you get dropped Q-item. I have had Alchemy skill over 580 a few days, and still no Q-item drop, so i decided to craft tihis one as cheapest alternative. However, hardest part of crafting was finding Alchemy Lab.

So if you are looking for Alchemy Lab, the best i can suggest you is Shattrah city.

Wowwiki says there are 4 Alchemy Labs, BUT:

~~Acherus~~ <-- have been there on my Dk, no Alhemy lab (spent 30 min searching for it)

~~Scholomance~~ <-- after MoP overhaul, no Alchemy lab anymore

Shattrath City <-- There is alchemy lab, on arrakora tower, lower floor, oposite bridge to other tower (really small, and hard to find)

Blackwing Lair <-- Did not try this alternative, I think, that Shattrah is more accesible, and faster to get there.

Also, if you get really desperat in Shatt, just mouseover all tables of lower floor on arrakora tower ;) I was not able to find Alchemy lab by myself, get really desperate and wrote a ticket to GM, here is answer:

My L65 Troll Priest Jewelcrafter had two of these. Doing the Dalaran JC dailies required killing a few L70 mobs, and without the trinkets I just missed and missed. Two of these and those L70s never had a chance.

If you have a hard time finding the Alchemist Table in Shattrath City, simply ask a guard...
They have the option available to mark the exact location of the Alchemist Table.

EDIT: The table is located on the second floor

If you are trying to create this to lvl your alchemy you need an Alchemy Lab as you have found out. The easiest one to access in the one in Shatt. It is in lower city, up in the trees. if you go to (43.3,19.7) the lower of the two levels then you will be able to create the stones.

Shattrath Alchemy Lab (hah!) coordinates: 43.53, 19.39. Lower lvl of the treehouse, in the back. The treehouses are the two pink swirly circles east of the Aldor Rise.

In case your toon cannot fly (it happens...), the ramp to get up there begins at 56.66 16,21.

Found it in the end!...a bit hard because there are a lot of tables that look like this one at the arakkoa tower. Is on the second floor, somewhere behind so I tried all the tables that I found in my way untill reached it. Lol.

to make you need the Alchemy Lab and it is in the back tower in shat on the LOWER floor of the arakkoa tower. the table is round and small with other tables around it and is on top of a big green rug. you will be next to the earth wall around shat...it is that far back.

Sorry if someone's already asked this - but why doesn't your Alchemy Lab at your garrison count as one for you to make it, it just still says 'Requires Alchemy Lab'...?

Just a friendly Heads Up! for those searching for an Alchemy Lab to craft older recipies/ items such as Mercurial Stone.
The Alchemy Lab building in your garrison is, unfortunately, not that Lab.

You need to use particular labs for certain recipes (usually those that coincide with the Xpac of the recipe).

For expample, the previously mentioned Mercurial Stone is from the BC xpac and needs to be crafted at the Alchemy Lab in Shattrath (coords: 43, 20 in the city). The one in Org will NOT work.

There is no visual indicator (apart from text when you over your mouse over it) to determine which part of the tower in Shattrath is the Alchemy table. It's the opposite side of the trainer, the side where the mountain is, next to a single Skettis Outcast.
