This item can be spammed pretty much anywhere. You can have about 3 out before one fades. While obviously this serves no practical purpose, it's kinda fun to play around with (along with Archmage Vargoth's Staff).

To my knowledge, the long quest chain these are used for is part of a requirement in attuning for Mount Hyjal, so raiders probably can't get away with keeping it.

Damn, I already had to do this quest chain to get attuned for Hyjal. Oh well, it was pretty fun for a while in Kara...

"What the hell does a Totem of Spirits do? Tolki isn't a Shaman..."

Also, confuses the crap out of people in AB. I would drop one or two around flags when defending, and if I died my killers would often hump the totems, obviously trying to attack it =)

It's good when bored to stand in one spot and summon a totem every 30 seconds in a square, then drop Archmage Vargoth in the middle, summon a small pet, a combat pet like http://www.wowhead.com/?item=5332#dropped-by , or a Netherwing Ally, and turn yourself into a Furlbog and run around in circles. I'm a bit weird.

Complete party set: Picnic Basket, Romantic Picnic Basket, D.I.S.C.O, Fishing Chair, Goblin Gumbo Kettle, Archmage Vargoth's Staff, Totem of Spirits, Brewfest Pony Keg, and Brazier of Dancing Flames.
Summon them all at once in a special spot for completely awesome party!

Does anyone know if finishing this questline means you lose your totem? In other words: Do you have to be on the quest to keep the totem in you inventory?

I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet... this looks identical to the Witchdoctor's Healing Wards from Warcraft 3.

I really hope this item will go into the toy box feature in WoD! But I guess that is too much to ask, since you lose it when you complete the quest chain.

Then again, they said that they might do that with the old Dartol's Rod of Transformation, so who knows.
