It's a repeatable quest to get Reputations with The Scryers (350 for each tome). I farmed about 6 of those in 2 hours at the Manaforges in Netherstorm.

Ok, Im a level 64 Warlock. I killed these guys around the mana forge for about 2 hours and didnt get a single tome and the only signet I got was off a rare guy. So either these are set to only drop for players above a level higher than mine or I have the worst luck in the world. I killed gaurdsmen, and casters, basicly everything that was around the building there, mostly 68-69 level mobs. I plowed through them at a pretty good pace, they are fairly squishy given thier level compared to mine. I recomend waiting till your 68+ to try to grind for tomes I guess, deffinantly dont try it at 64 or lower. I could understand the tomes being rare but not to see a single signet seemed a little strage to me since the firewing singnets drop like 1 for ever 4 or 5 mobs you kill.

These are turned in to Voren'thal the Seer in Shattrath @ 42,91 (upstairs next to the Grand Master Enchanter) for Scryers rep. You get 350 rep per Arcane Tome. You also get an Arcane Rune in return, which is used for shoulder item enchants.

Units have a low drop rate of lower level guys. Firewing point can drop them, but the rate sucks bad. For solo, i suggest West of Area 52 killing the guys there. Those same guys drop Sunfury Signets, http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30810 . You can get the arcane tomes off higher level guys in Instances, but there is a better chance for you to go solo them at Mana Forge B'Naar.

I find that actually farming for the aldor easier, for i got many Fel Armaments and Marks of Kil'Jaeden off the Cabal north of auchindoun, and trading them for Arcane Tomes allowed me to get about 6 or so arcane tomes within about 2 hours.

If you are buying items for rep, Sunfury Signet are more cost-effective. At the time of this post, you can buy about 20 Sunfury Signets (500 rep) for the price of 1 Arcane Tome (350 rep). As the market changes, tomes may become more cost-effective, but you shouldn't pay more for a tome than 14x the going rate of a signet, if all you want is rep.

I have had very good experience at the Ruins of Karabor. It is northeast of the Sanctum of the Stars in Shadowmoon Valley. I got about 50 Signets and 5 tomes in an hour.

The best way to get these is to go to some TK dungeon. Probably the biggest droprates are there and the trash isnt that hard with a group is it? The other oprion i suggest are the Black Temple terraces. There they drop quite often too. Some good coincidence makes me drop them eveetime i come there from the first mob ^^

My favorite spot to farm these for when I need shoulder enchants...

Manaforge Duro in Netherstorm. Lots of casters with low armor, easy to steamroll over them as a physical damage class.

Outside the black temple, on the rise tot he north of the Dragonmaw Fortress. They spawn very close together here. Good for AOE farming. They do have a heal however, which heals for a lot and casts fast, need to watch out for that.

On my server at least, the cost for these, and the signets, both plummeted the moment the SSO dalies hit. The Dawnblade mobs drop them both like no tomorrow. Used to be easy to trade a tome for an armament, but now I'm seeing deals popping up like 2-3 tomes for one armament.

As of right now, they're going for 6 gold each, with about 8 pages of them on the auction house.

Yeah best place i've found so far to farm these as well as signets are the manaforges west of Area 52 you wont get too many tomes but u get a pretty good amoung of the rings.

Arcane Tomes and Fel Armaments are becoming very expensive to buy from AH, there is high demand now, main reason is when you search what enchant can i do to a shoulder item people understand that it is much easier to enchant a shoulder item with the older enchants cause

a) older enchants are cheaper
b) older enchants are only a bit inferior to new ones
c) you need time to get rep with The Sons of Hodir and money plus you might don't know where to even start getting rep with them,
however you probably are already honored at least with Aldor or Scryers so you can go enchant your shoulder item immediately!

If you're just starting out with the Scryer quests, you'll likely try farming the blood elves in Terrokar first. In an effort to save -a lot- of time and headache, I would recommend just buying the one required for the quest off the AH.

Fun macro I made:

This will count the amount of tomes and signets you have, multiply the rep value for each (25 per signet, 350 per tome) and then add the two values.

In other words, it counts the amount of signets and tomes you have and tells you how much rep they are worth =D

at this point, and because I'm on a low population server, there are none of the signets or tomes on the AH. There was one Arcane Tome, which I bought, but nothing else. I was really just wanting to get enough rep (honored) to get the level 50 spellthread pattern. it seems like this is going to be long & tedious.

after only 15-20 minutes burning all of the Arcimaga dei Furia del Sole's with my main, 85 mage, i came out with 25 signets, but not a single tome. However, i did find the Four of Blessings card , pretty rare, not wat i'm looking for :/

If you want Sha'tar rep at the same time as scryer rep in Cataclysm I suggest doing Botanica heroic. True you can only do the bosses once per day on heroic for Sha'tar rep, but the trash continues to give til exalted and they drop plenty of these and the signets. The reason I say Botanica for Scryer instead of Arcatraz or Mechanar, is that in the latter two there are many demons among the followers of Kael'thas. This means for the trash you are getting a mix of scryer and aldor rep items instead of just scryers.

If you're level 85 and looking to grind Scryer reputation then The Path of Conquest in Shadowmoon Valley has large clusters of blood elves that are perfect for farming Arcane Tomes, Sunfury Signets and Netherweave Cloth. There's probably 120~ mobs within the area all located close together for easy grinding.

With Mr. Popularity you get 385 reputation with The Scryers for turning these in. Also Humans, due to Diplomacy receive even more reputation and with both the racial and guild perk can receive 420 reputation for each turn in.

After a TON of grinding, I left Terokkar Forest (Firewing Point), and I ended up in Shadowmoon Valley (Eclipe Point), 45,66. I got it off an "Eclipsion Archmage". I think this relates to your level. The higher the level (ie. 90), the lower the droprate. I swear, I farmed about 200+ before one dropped with my 90 Hunter.

I run a high level toon thru Botanica to solo wipe it... last run in Heroic mode yeilded 3 Arcane Tomes and 49 Signets. Took about 10 min.

Mechanar (Normal), fully cleared in 6 minutes, 0 arcane tomes.
Arcatraz (Normal), fully cleared in 6 minutes, 0 arcane tomes.
The Path of Conquest, Shadowmoon Valley (West of Sanctum of the Stars), fully cleared in 6 minutes, 5 arcane tomes.

I ran through the Path of Conquest multiple times and each time I acquired roughly 5 arcane tomes, so the drop rate is fairly consistent.

I just did a few run in Botanica HC without killing any boss, it's very quick to clear and i dropped about 35 Signets and 3 Tomes in nine runs. Not that bad.

Fastest Scryers Reputation Grind 2020 Edition:

Having experimented with various ways to grind Scryers rep, as of patch 9.0.2 (2020) the fastest method by far is grinding mobs in THE BOTANICA (for reference, I tried the Mechanaar and Arcatraz too, finding them to be slower). There are two possible strategies depending on how much time you want to spend per session and how much rep you need:

TL/DR:
Option 1 - Approx. 8000 rep in 25 minutes. Due to instance lockout, this nets ~8000 rep/hour.
Option 2 - Approx. 6000 rep in 25 minutes. No instance lockout means this nets ~13250 rep/hour.

Option 1 (fastest burst, not sustainable):
- Pull all mobs up to the first boss (Commander Sarannis)
- 1 shot aoe, collect signets and arcane tomes
- Run back to entrance, reset instance, repeat

As a paladin, I am able to complete 1 run in 2.5 minutes, netting 14-22 signets and 0-2 arcane tomes. This works out to approximately 800 reputation per run. After 10 runs (25 mins) I cashed in my signets/tomes for 8000 rep, taking me most of the way to revered from honored. Many classes will be able to do this faster than a paladin. NOTE: Instance lockouts restrict you from doing more than 10 runs per hour!

Option 2 (fastest long term, sustainable):
- Pull all mobs up to first boss, kill, loot
- Repeat up to third boss (Thorngrin the Tender)
- Run back to entrance, reset instance, repeat

For sustained farming, one should aim for a 6 minute run to avoid the instance lockout. The above route takes me ~5 minutes, netting 24-26 signets and 1-3 arcane tomes, for an average of 1325 rep per run. Spend another minute or so cleaning junk from your bags or sorting those BOEs and you will be able to farm indefinitely. This faster than Option 1 if you do 12+ runs/hour, slower if you do less than 12 per hour (if you are mining or queueing for battlegrounds in between, for example). NOTE: Stop at the platform in front of each boss to kill the mobs you have pulled up to that point. They sometimes despawn if pulled farther. Pulling past boss 3 to get to 6 minutes is not worth it as the plants after him don't drop signets/tomes.

Need 39,000 reputation to go from friendly to exalted. Option 2 will get you there in just under 3 hours.

So you want to turn in all your Anello con Sigillo dei Furia del Sole and/or Tomo Arcano, which give about 300 rep to Veggenti per 10 you can turn in at a time.

Well first you need to do these 3 quests: Veterano di Guerra in Congedo at 59, 41, Terrace of Light, Shatt. He will send you to A'dal at 54, 44 inside. These will open the quest Città della luce from Khadgar standing in front of A'dal. Then speak to Khadgar a final time and pick a faction to align with (the other faction will hate you).

You can now go turn in your marks to Voren'thal il Veggente at 30.75, 34,50.

P.S. For the other two items Contrassegno di Sargeras and Contrassegno di Kil'jaeden. You are required to align with "Aldor" instead. Same 3 quests above required but instead go turn them in to: Adyen il Custode della Luce at 42.8, 91.7.
