The wind serpents in Sethekk Halls also drop these. Though killing nonelites is definitely a more lucrative practice.

These are very easy to farm up quickly in Blade's Edge Mountains, in an area called "Scalewing Shelf", which is not far from Toshley's Station. Felsworn Scalewing and Scalewing Serpent both reside in the area and the scales can be skinned from both of them. They are used for a number of very nice epic crafted items, and are usually fairly cheap to purchase on the Auction House as well. ( If only we could say the same for Cobra Scales.. ) In the process you may also find yourself with a nice stack of serpent flesh which can be used to create spell damage food. :)

hello. i was wondering i tried to farm these scales from the Blades edge at the "Scalewing Shelf" .now is the drop rate bad there.for me i killed like 30 of these serpents and i only got 3 scales ,is this a normal drop rate percentage ,plz let me know

Killed 35 in a row in blade's edge, and still not one has skinned for a wind scale... no chance on earth that these are 20% drop rate...

These can also be skinned from the dragonhawks in Zul'Aman.

Farming for new belt, got 10 in about 45 minutes in blades edge, just east of deaths door. Watch out though, maggoc pats the area sometimes. Not amazing chance of scales, but knothide is good too.

It drops good in Shadowmoon valley to..dident use to long time while was farming them...30min on 10 i think

Scalewing Shelf, both types are giving me a little over 20% drop (based on over 100 skins of each). On Skullcrusher they go for 10-15g but there rarely many in AH.

I don't know if the skin rate on wind scales was recently nerfed but i tried to farm some recently to help a new 70 in my guild with his windhawk set and i saw about a 5% drop rate.

I filled my bags with serpent flesh, electrified scales and knothide leather before i could get a full stack of wind scales.

Drop rate was definitely nerfed. Cleared scalewing shelf of serpents and only 2 wind scales dropped. I mostly got leather scraps.

Skinned some from the Swiftwing Shredders in Netherstorm, no luck on the shelf.

As a level 80 farming mats for leatherworking bags I found that the Scalewing Serpents were a decent choice for farming these. While the only concentrated area of these mobs is just east of the Singing Ridge in the Blade's Edge Mountains I also needed Netherwing Dragonscales which were in plentiful supply at the Singing Ridge. As a result I simply flew from one end to the other of the southern ridge several times and soon had the amount I needed.
As a note while there are several of these farther north they become fewer and fewer in comparison the the nearby raptors resulting in little gain unless you need to farm the raptors as well.

I'm farming those to craft Drums of Speed. In 2 runs going from (73,24) to (68,74) on Blade's Edge Mountain I got 9 Wind Scales skinning Scalewing Serpents and Felsworm Scalewing.

The Eclipsion Dragonhawks in Shadowmoon were perfect. Farmed up 16 for my LW pattern in less than 10 minutes. Actually got 4 of them off of one mob skinned. Was pretty rad.

In Blade's Edge Mountains, as of today you're much better off farming Scalewing Serpent than Felsworn Scalewing. The drop rate seems higher and there's many more of them.

Scalewing Ridge/Razor Ridge didn't seem that bad. Three runs today killing all Scalewing/Felsworn resulted in.

These are still usable at lvl 90
if you have Medaglione Benedetto di Karabor to port you can kill the Dragofalco dell'Eclisse they seem to drop 1/5.

Took me about 30 min to get 20 Scaglie del Vento (transmog purposes) from Dragofalco dell'Eclisse, none of the mobs dropped more than 1 scale at a time (so I'm guessing 1-5 is a thing of the past now).

I disconnected midway through farming, but I can confirm that in 15 minutes I accrued 26 scales from the Dragofalco dell'Eclisse in Eclipse Point, Shadowmoon Valley. I just started at the bottom and zig-zagged back and forth (there are isolated ones IN the compound as well as the ones around the perimeter).
