Note that although you do not need to be on the quest to get the ore, it is an Alliance-only quest. If you're a Horde player and you're in Redridge and you're not ganking people on the bridge, and you come across this, then your best bet is to sell it on the neutral auction house to an Alliance player as it's probably not much use to you.

Had my miner collect ore and killed the entire cave. Got 11 ore total from both killing and mining. Cords for cave are 19 26.

You have to be in the cave to find it on the drops.

It takes awhile to get them off the drudgers. It took me about 3 respawns on all the guys in the cave to get all 5.

Ive seen these drop from the Copper Veins in Rethban Caverns.

Your best bet is to be or conscript a miner, as the drop rate is just average as far as the monsters go, but mining will get you Rethban Ore almost every time you find a vein in the cavern.

What can you use Retban Ore in? I know it's a item for a quest, but can one also use this item for other purposes?

Does anyone know if the quest related to this ore is still available? The fact that there is no "Objective of" tab for this item would lead me to believe it's not. Just looking for clarification.

I just looted this item from the PTR 6.0,i had 24 mining and was testing out if i could mine some Mithril the way in live version you can mine Ghost Iron and yes you can pretty much lvl up mining by mining anything until it goes gray,anyway this Rethban Ore drooped from a mining node in Searing Gorge so as for PTR goes is still obtainable (but still useless).

Just mined this off a mithril ore node in Burning Steppes and came here to see what it was used for. Must be a bug if this was removed from the game.

I too have been able to mine it from Mithril veins, on about 8 ocasions has this dropped as well.

I Just looted this item (1/31/16) in 1k needles while mining mithril. It is still available in game. Not removed as wowhead suggests.

Still has a low percent drop rate from early mining nodes as of 7.0

Got it from Mithril Vein in Arathi Highlands as Horde. It is vendor trash, sadly.

Mined one today from a Mithril node in Tanaris, Patch 7.2. So, although the "Quest" it was originally attached to has been removed from the game the ore itself has not. It's just not usable for anything currently IN game.I've leveled Engineers and Blacksmiths and there is no recipe that calls for this.

January 2018... I just mined one tonight from some Mithril nodes in Thousand Needles. Guess I'll just vendor it, considering I see it's completely useless despite not being grey. :|

Just mined this and have been playing wow since vanillia and I did not recall what it was for and to my complete surprise wowhead says it is not in game anymore, July 6 2018 and I have it so what else may it be used for if I can mine it?

Even in the pre-patch for Battle For Azeroth, this is still being mined. This object has no use however.

Apparently, Mithril nodes are still holding on to this ore for sentimental reasons. I just mined a couple from a Mithril node in Burning Steppes, 05/18/20.

I mined 2 of these on 22JAN22 in Eastern Plaguelands. Typical laziness of the Devs since this has not been needed since TBC. Then again as of 2JUN20 it is still used in Classic. Now we know why MS bought A/B this month.
