For all the other 'food buffs' there seems to be a fishing option and a non-fishing option - ie for +spell damage you can fish up icefin bluefish, or you can farm Chunk o' Basilisks (and Serpent Flesh for horde). Same for agility and strength.

There seems to be no comparible land dwelling meat you can farm for the +healing food!!! /cry

This isn't that hard to fish if you have a little patience and plenty of lures in your bags. You also fish up a fair amount of http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27425 which is made into http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27662 which isn't a bad buff for healers, especially druid ones.

It's worth mentioning that for spirit based healers, this at a certain gear level and with buffs will give more regen than http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27663 .
With the healing and spirit (which will give more mp5 the better your gear is) this has to be the best food for a priest or a druid healer.

Edit: When saying that it will become better as your gear does, im refering to the change to spirit based regen where you get more mp5 from each point of Spirit as your Intellect gets higher.

With changes made in 3.0 these no longer have a unique effect but are the same as crunchy serpent and blackened basilisk. On the other hand they are now useful to any caster.

Although a rather moot point now with the spell power conversion, this item used to give a +44 bonus to healing. Interestingly enough, it's quite common to find fish sticks packaged in increments of 44.

Coincidence? Or brilliantly subtle tidbit purposely done by our friends at Blizzard?

I thought I'd point out that I find these pretty useful for my 65 warlock, now that they buff with 'standard' spell power. Since the Fel Armor (62) spell adds a number equal to about 30% of total spirit to spell power, these end up adding roughly 30 (instead of 23) to my spell power while still providing the +20 spirit. The fish are quite plentiful from pools in Outland; I made about 48 of these within two days of casual fishing around Terokkar and Zangarmarsh, so I snack on them all the time.

And perhaps more importantly, I love that they're fished instead of hunted-- I've never had such a nice supply of Chunks o' Basilisk or any other meat from land animals, unless I farmed them heavily.
