It appears that with the 3.1 patch, Soothing Spices, Hot Spices and Mild Spices will no longer be required for the vast majority -- if not all -- of the recipes they were originally required to be part of. Whether or not they will continue to have any sort of functionality in the game remains to be seen, let alone if they will continue to be available on vendors.

I will assume that Hot Spices will also no longer be required for the new version of the artisan cooking quest, which now only rewards a new cooking recipe. Last time I read, Artisan cooking can now be taught by trainers.

While the removal of spices is more convenient, I can't help but feel a little of the adventure or authenticity disappear too. It's more cut-and-dry now.

Far'kul Ardilingua was added in patch 10.0.7 and sells this item. However, he only appears in Razor Hill for orc players while they are on the heritage quest line.
