The eye is located at the top of the western tree. Access it by entering the eastern tree (through a doorway at the base), ascending to the top and crossing over a bridge that connects the two trees. The object itself is a very obvious white, glowing sphere on a carpet.

You need to go up inside a tree and then across a bridge. The path up inside the tree starts at 59,25.
The above coords are correct for the Eye but you will spend time running around under it unless you first go up in the tree.

I would say the entrance is at 60 25 and is on the outside of the tree, not in side the tree

An easy way to get to the Eye as a Mage is to walk up the hill to Razorthorn Shelf and position yourself on the edge of the hill about 58,23. Then cast Slowfall and jump straight on to the tower. You can get the Eye and jump off again without pulling agro.

The entrance to the upper canopies is through a large tree. The upper canopy is two trees, so look up and follow the bridge to the eastern-most tree, and walk around the base till you see the hole in the tree.

I don't know why this was so hard for me to find.
