I got this this item from a Dust Howler.it droped.Once you get the quest go to the Throne of the Elements and complete the quest :)

If you are going for the achievment Nagrand Slam it is worth to get this quest as u have another quest as follow up.

The drop rate seems a bit scary and you may think "I'm not gonna grind for it hours on end with such a low drop rate!"

The quest item can only be looted once (once you've done the quest / have one on your bag you won't see it again), that's why the low drop rate.

After doing the quest on my warlock for the achievment I decided to "grind" for the quest item on my DK just to see the "real drop rate".

I didn't grind on all mobs that drop it, I only did on the Dust Howlers. Everytime I was looting the Howling Wind I was deleting it from my bag and after about 30 mins and roughtly 60 kills I counted 13 drops.

On a wild guess u can say that the drop rate is between 20-25% chance.

Go see Wazat and start I Must Have Them!. You can kill Dust Howlers and Storm Ragers southwesterly from the goblin around (59,73) until the Howling Wind drops for you. By that time you should have all you need of the other so you can then zip right back to Wazat for Bring Me the Egg! before going back to Elementalist Morgh.

Is there a way to check to see if I have done this quest? I'm trying to get nagrand slam, but the howling wind won't drop for me. I am starting to think I have done it.

Coincidence? Doubt it: levelled 6-7 blood dks to 65 in nagrand in the last couple of days, killed multiple dust howlers, nothing; killed ONE storm rager, dropped...

The drop rate is IMO way higher, if not 100%, on the storm ragers.

on 5.4 i think they buffed this. As i got it on 2nd kill

i was trying to do the transmorg set http://wowroleplaygear.com/2012/01/16/loaps-set/

which required the next quest so it was pretty interesting after only having to kill 2.

Just as a heads up - as of the leveling rework, this drop is still required to complete the Throne of the Elements part of Nagrand Slam. It took me about 20-25 kills to obtain while farming Dust Howlers near Nesingwary's Safari.

I believe the item is bugged. I have been killing Dust Howlers for hours now. Tried with no addons as well still no luck.
It is the last quest for my Nagrand Slam. Anyone else having any issues?

As of the pre-patch this thing is bugged.

It's supposed to drop in one or two kills, yet I did the three air gases quest and probably killed over 20 air elementals and it never dropped.

Edit: As of 11/3/2020, it finally dropped for me after a couple kills. There was a patch update today, so maybe they fixed it, or maybe it just always had a bad drop rate and I just don't remember. Either way, it does actually drop now.

Tried to get this item on a level 23 character and gave up after an hour of no luck, then on a hunch tried it on a level 58 character and got it after 3 kills. Maybe I just got really unlucky on one character or really lucky on the other, but I'm betting it's a problem caused by the Shadowlands level squish where the minimum level to loot is set too high.

Edit: I got the item shortly after the level 23 character hit level 25, so that may be the magic number here.

May of 2021 here... this sh!t is not dropping. on a level 25 toon trying to do the Lore Master while leveling. Sooo anyone else got an ideas of what's going on?

Had to kill well over 50 of these mobs before I got the drop. Horrible drop rate. Be patient if you're trying for the Lore achievement here lol
