This recipe dropped from mekgineer in Steamvault tonight. Kinda sucks that the boots are leather and being a warlock I can't use em :/ The boots themselves are BoE though, whereas the pattern is bind on pickup ala Molten Core recipes.

These boots have a 5 minute cooldown. They make your run for about 3 seconds at 300% speed, you can steer while you're being launched. After 3 seconds you will come to an emmidiate stop with knockdown, kinda like the old Unstobbable Force proc.

As for the practical minds among us, this will get you across 1/3rd of the Warsong Gulch field, I cannot confirm if you hold the flag on knockdown, but you should.

I was wondering if, like most of the other BC BoP recipes, this can only be seen by Engineers? Because, if so, then that may mean that the drop rate percentage is messed up (since it's based on a ratio of kills to how many times the item has been seen).

And, in that case, I'm curious if it might be a much higher drop rate.

After the 2.1 patch these boots will have a different animation, instead of a knock down effect you'll get blown upwards in mid air while spinning and take 200ish damage. This damage is a big buff since it break's CC if you time it right as you eat a trap/sheep/ etc.

Just so people don't freak out about the drop chance, this is one of the "oversights" made by a mod (and an unavoidable one at that.) These drops are only seen when there is a high level engineer in the group. And, engineers aren't horribly common. So, expect this to be more around the 20%+ range.

If you combine this item with the parachute cloak, you will remain moving at 300% speed while in the air. It can be very useful in wsg as you can zoom across the entire field nearly instantly, but beware when using this, there have been a few cases where people have been banned for "hacking" as the auto ban thing in wow reads you moving at 300% speed without a mount for more than X seconds.

dont believe these drop rates at these profession recipes..because they log all people's statistics and drop rate always seems low like that %0.2

The drop rate does vary depending on if you're in Normal or Heroic Steamvaults. According to World of Warcraft Armory http://www.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=23887 the pattern has the following approximate drop rates:

Heroic: Medium (25% - 50%)
Normal: Very Low (3% - 14%)

I can attest to this, as I have run more than 15 Normal SV runs, and being a 375 Engineer I have yet to see these drop. Oh sure, everyone can have different actual streaks of good or bad luck . . but I'm inclined to believe Blizzard when they list different drop rates for an item based on dungeon difficulty.

I hate Blizzard removing them from arena.. A tailorer may use his spellpower fire set also, and a blacksmith may use his crafted wep also. Where's the profession for if it gets limited after a patch...

Dropped for me on Normal mode after 5 kills (I resorted to farming Normal because he didn't drop them on Heroic /angry). I'm not sure whether that makes me lucky, or indicates that drop rates aren't too bad in Normal, but there you go.

Incidentally, for any Hunters reading this, he is a very, very easy solo farm at 80. The packs in SV are spread out sufficiently that you can Cheetah past almost of them, and have plenty of room to rush in + Disengage + Feign the stubborn spots. The large pack guarding the bridge before the slave area can be avoided entirely just by walking behind the rightmost Warrior. You can also dodge all the Slavehandler fights by keeping a moderate distance. Round up all the Lepers at once with your pet, MD + Volley, burn down Streamrigger, then rinse and repeat.

And of course, don't forget the Gas Cloud that's always floating around him for free motes. ;]

Does anyone know if the speed buff from this can stack with the belt tinker for an insane speed burst?
My guess is that it will not stack, but rather the most powerfull one will win (like the mount+speed buff in AB)
If it were to stack, however, this would be a powerfull addition in WSG with or without flag (tunnel speed boost + belt tinker + boots)

I was passing through this instance to farm Enchant Bracer - Fortitude from Oracles, and after receiving it from the second one I killed in Heroic mode, I decided to visit this boss. This pattern was one of the items he happened to drop, so it's possible the drop chance has increased. Happy hunting.

Confirm as of MOP this pattern will drop for ENGs. Took me 3 runs on normal. On a side note for rep farmers. This place is fantastic for leveling rep, bring a tabard.

Dropped for me on normal - literally run in, 1 shot everything, kill boss, run out and re-set. 2-3mins. did it with 1 reset, so 4-5mins

Still drops in Legion on Normal difficulty...
Go straight to Mekgineer Steamrigger, kill, go out, reset instance, repeat.

Dropped on my 10th try. Took me about 30 minutes.
