Drops from Anger Guards in Forge Camp Anger (Blade's Edge Mountains.)

Droprate occurs much like the rest of the Ragesteel and Khorium armors for Blacksmiths. 8 guards total can make this grind a bit more painful, along with someone occasionally summoning Doomcryer for their quest. You'll either get it in the first 20 kills or it'll feel like a day's worth of grinding to get your hands on this plan.

Just be patient, take a break and go grind something else if it's not falling for you.

Confirmed. Drops from Anger Guards. Took 25 kills to get. Was lucky enough to get marks of sargeras x15 and 4 Fel armaments during farming for this. Above marked co-ords, are correct as well.

For those who dont have a coordinate mod, the location is forge camp anger, its is located on the right hand side if you are heading towards netherstorm. if you look on the map you will see somewhat of a blue hue around the area.

Having blacksmithing as a profession is a plus to farming this. Tried it with a 68 rogue (non bsmith) to see what the drop rate is, and around the 200th kill it dropped. I also was killed the engineers and the attendants as well, dont know if that will make the drop rate different but i cleared te whole are 3 times during this.

The Second Sight Helm is overall better than this... but paired with other set parts this gives a lot of crit / attack power, very good for a fury warrior in raid (i am). Not so good for farming / grinding / questing / pvp due to the lack of stamina tho.

I've killed about 200 of those last weekend and it still hasn't dropped for me. Got a couple Primal Shadow and some greens tough.

I'll go after the chestpiece for a while.

Hrmm, I must be horribly unlucky, because I've killed at least 500 of those Anger Guards, and no drop. If only the respawn times were quicker, it would be closer to bearable.

There are actually 9 of these guards...and yeah the drop rate is killing me too. I have spent hours there.

What I've gone to doing while farming this is to kill the first 4 Anger Guards at the front, they're easy, don't aggro each other (at 70) and then do a mining run... by the time I do a little lap, they're respawned - Kill - rinse, repeat.

They drops LOTS of netherweave so this can be helpful for bandages (obviously) or to sell in AH. I've had bad luck I think, 100+ kills and no drop -- but if you're lvling bsing, the ore you get from my method is great. Adamantite, Fel Iron, Khorium, Eternium not to mention the mote of fire and earth you get. I've also gotten 2 blue gems tonight! Good times, even if the pattern doesn't drop.

I was on the PTR randomly killing a handful of mobs in different areas trying to find the new plans for Ragesteel shoulders. While near the coilfang/water elemental area I got the plans for Ragesteel Helm... from an Enraged Water Spirit. From comments/drop rate it says only Anger Guard, but now I'm assuming they might have moved a few plans to drop from different locations.

SEEKING CONFIRMATION!!!

Did they change something on this mob? the percentage of drop rate for mote of shadow is suppose to be at 15% I believe, but I killed so many and have yet to see a single mote of shadow drop! This also has me curious as to know if this mob is still the carrier of these plans, as I have spent hours farming these eight to nine mobs, that refuses to drop the plan, so please someone tell me whats the deal is.

Yea don't give up i spent 3-4 hours just straight through farming those guys the drop rate is horrid but keep at it and you'll get it eventually plus i got about 30g in grays and greens and what not.

Took me about 1 hour, don't know how many i took down.
Not much good drops, just 1 green and a fel arnament.

I'd say, just keep grinding they will drop. ofc you need to be Blacksmith, but your skill level doesn't mather, since i myself am 362 and plans are 365 to learn.

Take out the cannons first btw.

As of patch 2.2, these plans appear to now drop from any enraged elemental type mob in SMV (I had one drop from Enraged Air Spirit).

This pattern dropped twice for me last night. About 10 minutes apart. They both dropped off of http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=21060 the enraged air spirits in SMV.

I just started farming the Anger camp yesterday for the Ragesteel Helm plans. So far I've killed 130 Anger Guards... no drop yet. I've also killed about 45 Engineers just for good measure. I've put in about 2 hours so far.

Anyone else have recent confirmation that the plans still drop here?

I'll update my progress as I continue...

EDIT: 8 more kills, and the plans dropped. Just a tad over 2 hours of farm time and 138 kills... not too bad! Now for the last piece... just the breastplate left.

Ive killed around 300 Anger Guards and near combined amount of 1000 Air and Water elementals in Shadowmoon Valley and still no drop. This pattern is the only one im missing from the set and it just wont drop.

EDIT 500+ Guards and still nothing

Just dropped for me today (11/17/07) after about 50 or so kills. Holy pal with about ~720 spelldamage made it fairly easy, but here's a good rotation (if you are 70... if not, take them 1-2 at a time):

1. Start with the first 4. Kill as many as you can comfortably take.

2. Facing the camp (after killing the front four) look left. There should be a guard with a Cannon. Take them next.

3. Just up the path to the left again is another Guard/Cannon combo. Kill them.

4. Back to the front, look to your right. On the first ledge is another Guard/Cannon combo (with a possible patrol). Separate and kill.

5. Behind should be a solo guard. Kill him.

6. In the far right corner (still using the front of the camp as a reference point) should be the last guard, solo. Kill him.

Be watchful for lone cannons, patrols, and opposing faction :P

Farming the Ragesteel plans

As an experiment when my Pally hit level 69 I stopped questing and started to grind for the Ragesteel plans. I did a couple little quests to pickup my Mech Tech Shoulders but everything else was just killing mobs that drop Ragesteel plans. I alternated between killing Ashtongue Warrior, Boulderfist Warrior, Anger Guard and Enraged Spirits (mostly Water and Air). I also got a few thousand XP from map discoveries.

The standard UI divides a level into 20 separate ‘bars’. I got my first plans from the Anger Guards at around 7 bars. And then I got nothing for 12 more bars. In bar #20 I got ‘lucky’. I got the plans from the Boulderfist Warrior at the start of the bar. And then just 2 mobs before dinging 70 I got the Ashtongue Warrior plans. So I farmed for one whole level and only managed to get three of the four plans.

I did finally pick up the 4th plan when I was farming some Air for my epic axe a couple hours later.

Looking through my current blacksmith plans and noticed it was that only piece i didn't have yet. Took 1 kill of an Anger Guard and the plan was mine. Looks like they may have upped the droprate or i got lucky. O well i'm happy.

Just got these plans about an hour ago. Can confirm that they still drop, yes yes yes. The grind was quite reasonable, only took me an hour. I suppose they've increased the drop rate or somesuch. At 80, the Anger Guards are laughably easy to kill, the only irritating thing to bear in mind is they have a charge that'll knock you on your ass.

Took me about 6-7 clears of the 8 guards to get my plans. This on the tail of getting the plans off the Boulderfist Warriors in Nagrand. Happy day.

Theres 9 total Anger Guards i flew over the whole little section there and found 9 one was like in stealth.

I did one clear of the place and got nothing. On my second clear the second mob dropped it. It definitely is random, but it sure seems like they upped the drop rate overall. Good luck.

Confirmed Drop as of 4.3.2 by Anger Guards

Just got it after farming off and on for a week. Took close to 500 kills for me to finally get it.

Funny thing is, I put in a ticket asking if it was still dropped by Anger Guards right before it dropped.

This with the Thorium Set should be plenty good enough for a full red armor set to mock the scarlet crusade in.

This recipe took me the longest to obtain. There are 9 guards. Facing camp, there are two on each side of the ramp leading up to the next level. There are 3 guards on the right side and 2 guards on the left. Both guards on the left "man" fel cannons, as does one on the right. The respawn rate is about five minutes. Plans are still BoP. My approach was to pull the front 4 guards as a group and then to proceed clockwise for the other 5. As I could take all 9 guards in less than 5 minutes, had to wait for respawn. Killed time by taking out other mobs ... they drop cloth and marks for Aldor rep...

I understand now why the area is called Forge Camp: Anger. It's because that's what blacksmiths and engineers feel when they spend literally days of their lives in this cramped little place waiting for mobs to respawn so that they can be mercilessly slaughtered in a valiant but vain attempt to find a pattern or a schematic that Just... Won't.. DROP!

I got the plans today after about 60 kills. there are 9 anger guards at cords 73, 41 you kill to obtain the pattern in blades edge mountain....since there are only 9 guards the drop rate probaly isnt as bad as most people think it would be.

It should be noted that many players who are not blacksmiths kill these NPCs, thereby skewing the drop rates a bit. The drop rate for blacksmiths is probably somewhere between 1-2%.

A lot of comments here are extremely outdated, and there is a LOT of rambling and pontificating that isn't very useful, solet me just sum things up for you in a definitive and simple post.

The drop rate listed here is accurate. It is extremely low.
You will probably NOT get it on your 'third try' or even your fiftieth, and the people who say they did are very lucky.
Just like all RANDOM DROPS, this is RANDOM. There is nothing you can do to influence this. It will drop or it won't.
There are 9 Anger Guards. You can kill them in a circle. The respawn time is around four minutes.
This process will not be fun. Your best bet is to either commit to hours and hours of farming, or do an hour a day.

If you are a rogue you have the added benefit of pickpocketing the Anger Guards for a junkbox which may contain one of the BC era rare BoE rogue purple weapons. It really doesn't add too much more time onto your grind; maybe cumulatively one second per rotation.

The bottom line? This is WOW you're playing; grinds are unpleasant, time consuming and often boring. It is what it is, so if you want it, commit to it!

Edit/Note: I know this is ludicrous, but I can't help pointing it out since a similar comment appears below. After MONTHS of farming this w/o a drop I put a GM ticket in to confirm it still drops. I got an affirmative response, and literally the next Anger Guard I killed dropped it. WEIRD.

Here's something to do when you've killed all the Anger Guards and are waiting for them to respawn: Go south-east to Manaforge B'naar just over the border in Netherstorm, and kill the Guardiasangue dei Furia del Sole for Progetto: Runa dello Scudo Superiore. Forge Camp: Anger and Manaforge B'naar are very close together, so it helps to grind these two recipes at the same time.

Took me about 10-15 camp-wipes (so roughly 80ish kills) to get the recipe, so to anyone wanting this - it will be the toughest plan to get, but just keep camping! :) I used the waittime to kill Gruul (yes a bit downtime on grindning, but kinda nescessary ;)) and watched streams. Wasn't that tought :) GL

Started to farm the entire set, this one took the longest, maybe a couple of hours all up to get it. The rest of the plan set's dropped within 15 minutes of getting to the area they are obtained in. So 3 hours for whole set of plans. not bad.

259 kills to get this drop.

There are 9 of the guards. Four along the front, four also along the front but up on the ledge and a final one a bit into the camp near the portal thing toward the south end. Respawn timers are roughly 7-8 minutes.

The plans still haven't dropped for me, but unless you're an original thinker who combines blacksmithing with skinning, I recommend farming the infernals to the north while waiting for the respawns. The timing's very good, there are a couple of mining nodes, and primal fire is useful if you're working BC recipes.

I finally got this Today. About 150-170 Anger guard kills. Lost count after about my 16th Pass killing every guard in the camp. Basically I just sat in the camp...and turned on youtube watched a few videos occasionally tabbing in to kill the guards. Good luck on your drops guys!

As of 4/28/08 usa dorrowmere /windrunner realmseems respawn is 4-7 min depends on rng but mostly 7 min mark been the normal on 9 anger guards so roughly 8 kills an hour and i can say after 2 hrs nothing 3 hrs nothing if want to figure out the math use this big caculator call computer to solve % drop rate so some say 2 round got plans others say 500 kills so it is rng drops, Blacksmiths if ye really want this plans prepare for a grind because ye might need a therapist after this grind !
Lol what makes these plans rare is fact there bop but, grind might be worth it since ye can sell the set at AH for what ever you want for set ! Yes i tried it don't work 1 every min for kill they all spawn around 7 min mark regardless of how kill them !

Update for Comments section 25 Feb 2019: After bagging all the other Ragesteel Plans, I traveled to Forge Camp: Anger to farm the Anger Guards for the Ragesteel Helm Plans. These took the longest to farm as there are only 9 Anger Guards that drop it, with a general respawn rate of 6-7 minutes after a clear of all 9. After roughly 1.5 hours and a trip over to Manaforge B'naar to farm the Sunfury Bloodwarders for the Plans: Greater Ward of Shielding (while waiting for the Anger Guards to respawn), I had killed 93 Anger Guards and picked up a few greens and a bag full of greys.

Kill #94 dropped the Ragesteel Helm Plans, and the trip over to Manaforge B'naar yielded the Greater Ward plans. Thanks to Kemaria for the tip on farming both locations as they are so close together.

Be aware, if you are lightly geared or lower level than the Anger Guards, they hit for decent damage, AND if you get within their Aggro range and alert them before you can get close, they will do a Charge/Stun maneuver that can even knock you out of the sky while performing Heroic Leap. Ranged attacks will trigger it as well, with them initiating a Charge as soon as they get close enough to you. Several times I tried using Heroic Throw to get in some extra damage before I got within melee range, then triggered Charge to close the distance, only to have them sidestep MY Charge and do a point-blank Charge in return, stunning me for several seconds while they chopped at me.
