Think these screenshots are showing the same thing but keep finding 1 bugged nightmare vine right at the beginning to shadowmoon pass floating in the air. Might be why I never could find it on land mount and cannot harvest it on flying mount since I am still mounted. Location of the bugged vine is 19.30.

Unfortunately, you can't loot the Shadowmoon Scouts so can't farm them for the Nightmare Vine.

Few things ive noticed about them not in 2.4

1) New spawn points in BeM where you do the bombing quest
2)always causes the debuff now

After 2.4, these spawn in the demon infested areas of the Blade's Edge Mountain plateaus and the Throne of Kil'Jeaden in Hellfire Peninsula. However be careful. One node spawns at the ramp near Kazzak and he will aggro if you try to harvest it.

Whoever put that spawn point there will giggle each time someone is foolish enough to try and harvest it.

As of 2.4.2 I am not getting the debuff when I harvest this. Not sure whether this is intended, unintended, or just an isolated bug. Either way, no more nightmare pollen debuff! Not sure why.

From the World of Warcraft PTR 2.4.3 patch notes:

Looting a Nightmare Vine will now properly no longer apply poison when the node is looted.

It is weird this hasn't been mentioned, but the best place to farm this is actually Shadowmoon Valley. Hellfire Peninsula has about 3 spawn points and, as mentioned, you'll get annihilated by Kazzak if you try to gather one of them.

The little penninsula directly north of Coilskar Point in SMV had several yellow dots on my mini map...after gathering I left with 11 nightmare vine and 6 felweed.

The peninsula north of Coilskar didn't yield any for me but just a general search around Shadowmoon found about 8 spawn points and around 20 nightmare vine, and I wasn't even trying.

If you don't have herbalist available and if you're trying to level enchanting from 340 to 350 using Formula: Olio Magico Pregevole, first check for it on the AH. Spent half an hour waiting for recipe to respawn just to find out that there is no such herb on the AH.

Nightmare Vine is best farmed from the various Forge Camps throughout the Outlands or any other "black area". In Hellfire Penn: Throne of Kil'Jaeden. Blade's Edge Mountains: Death's Door, Forge Camp Terror and Forge Camp Wrath, etc. they no longer have a buff when you pick them but there are the high level monsters all around the area so be at a higher level.

I know that times have changed but I had the best luck in Shadowmoon Valley; got about 27 in 30 minutes just flying around with Gathermate 2 running. Superior Wizard Oil is still useful for casters (particularly Arcane Mages) as it stacks with almost everything else and is cheap to make.
