These are great fun and last for ages unless you get blown up by another Tonk, comes with 50 charges. Currently Hunters can not equip unless they stable their pet, which means you have to delete a pet if all your stable slots are full, not good :(

So far, I have only seen the mine variety of the tonk. No Flamethrower, Machine Gun, or Shield versions yet. A shame because mines are the weakest IMO.

This can only be used at the fair. I had false hope thinking I could use this as if it was the same battle tonk I got in outlands.

Hostile mobs do not notice the Tonk, even if you shoot at them. These harm other Steam Tonks ONLY.

From what I understand, to use these in Ironforge, jump up behind the pillar to the right of the mailbox and you will be able to activate it. You can also initiate duels back there.

The mats for the Steam Tonk Controller have been reduced in patch 2.3
The new mats are:

3 Mithril Bars/Ores
1 Gold Power Core (You get 3 per Gold Bar/Ore)

A couple friends and I had a 30 minute long fight with these using the orchard next to Tarren Mill as a makeshift tonk arena. Really, really a lot of fun. We were all hoping more variations of tonks would eventually be available and even some way to form opposing teams... The plan now is to get a 25-man tonk fight going in Gruul's Lair... woot!

Fun fact: If you are a warrior with the talent Second Wind, it will proc if you remove the steam tonk buff when you are controlling it, as it will stun you if you remove it. Can be used to build some rage up before you charge into battle :)

I found out something interesting for hunters.

This can be used to instantly dismiss pets, even in combat. If your pet is near death, use this and after 3 seconds when you resummon them, they will be at full health. Making it more effective than mend pet.

This can also be used as a pet version of Feign Death.

Is there a limited range on how far these things can go? For some reason, every time I use one, after a random amount of time (but a hell of a lot shorter than the makimum duration) it disappears and I end up standing there, stunned (literally).

These babies also don't break stealth. I'm not sure about the racial night elf's shadow meld, but either way you can use them for some perfectly safe spy work.

These are pretty good training. I suggest making these until grey if you have a good enough mithril supply, otherwise make till green and make something else.
These can also sell for nice prices. I sell mine for 3 to 5g a pop. Easy to make back the money spent on mats.

Along with being good money makers, they can be great toys, especially in the starting areas. Let it get too close to a newbie and they will FREAK OUT. lol

Great toys. I made seven of them and gave them to my guild members as a parting gift before I transfer to Venture.Co, I hope they enjoy it.

It was also fun (yet unfair) to see the duel of a Thrashin' Crashin' car and this baby...

The remote control thrashin' car doesn't get affected by any of the tonk's attacks, sadly. I kept losing charges in an attempt to overcome this...obstacle.

Just learned this the hard way and thought I might give people a heads up.

If you think you might want to get this for an engineering alt you have....the schematic is bind on pickup. You can't trade it, mail it, or auction it. *sigh*

If you want to see the other factions side in Dalaran, if you have for example no alt on the other side, use this. Other 'pets' get ported out, but not this one. Personally I think it's because of the same reason you can't target it.

I find it fun whenever I'm bored to fly to the Silver Enclave, land on the ridge on either of the sides at the entrance and have fun with this. Oh and also with writing things there with smoke flares ^^

As of now, they are incredibly usefull for leveling engineering: the mats are relatively low in cost (gold bars don't seem to expensive and you can make 3 per gold bar) and atm my (gnome, note this) is at lv 285 engineering and they are still red

It does clog up your bags, but hey handing these out to guildies and organizing massive brawls is fun

Warlock Warning: Causes your minion to de-spawn, no, you don't get the soul shard back. Minor annoyance if you're fooling around in a safe area or have a few spare shards on you.

I hate trying to farm up a shard in the field with an imp.

They should remove the charges and increase the mats required in return. I dont know for yall, but for me charges just ruin the fun.

If my memory serves correct, these tonks can be used to fight Minizeps, and can be damaged by their skymines if they're close enough to the ground, as well as damage the zeps if they're flying low enough to trigger a tonk mine. Not sure if the cannon will hit them.
