These things sell horribly. I've re-listed mine about 5 times at 10g less than two nexus crystals cost and they're still sitting there. They are free to list though, which is a bonus.
I've made two of them to try to level up my enchanting, but didn't get a skill-up either time. If you don't need these for a piece of armor, I wouldn't recommend making them.

whats the story with the +4 resist all? i assume that its +4 resist all magic and not really "all" including stun, fear, snare etc as it is not a unique gem this would be incredibly overpowered.

Any enchanter expecting any profit on this, forget about it. The two Void Crystals will certainly earn you more money.

For pvp however, this gem can be somewhat useful. Versus opponents without spell penetration (they do exist), you will notice partial resists once in a while which in the long run adds up. I suggest maybe adding two of these in some of your spare sockets if you have trouble versus casters (especially dotters).
Don't expect miracles but just having >0 resistance is always a plus. Anyone who has played a blood elf know what I'm talking about.

With 2.4 allowing enchanters to make LPS from Voids, the value of this gem is the same as the +3 resist one.

Would it be worth it for a lock to skill demon for the +70 resi buff from the felhunter and load up with these?
I calculated that you could get a grand total of +220 res all if you were a bloodelf and got your hands on the mystic sheen cloak.

At +4 resist I am underwhelmed with these gems.

You can get the same effect as 9 of these gems for the hydross fight with:

Someone will probabl say "but you can have the gems and these items" and they will be right. But You can reequip a ring/necklace without destroying the previous one.

Simply put gem slots are more precious than bag slots.

It means:

+4 Fire Resistance
+4 Nature Resistance
+4 Frost Resistance
+4 Shadow Resistance
+4 Arcane Resistance

Each one counts as a red, yellow, and blue gem. This will allow you to easily fill up for those meta gems.

add "+4 Holy Resistance" to that.

Edit: stupid downraters.

EVERY one of these that I have made has sold for 35g ea. The shards are like 20g/stack. This is one of my best profit items, all it takes is paying attention to the cooldown, and there really isn't any competition for the market.

I just re-read all the comments, and thought someone should mention that this item no longer provides any value, since spell resistance was removed from the game entirely in Patch 5.0 as explained here.

The only reason to craft or use this in WoW 5.x would be:

A) because you're desperate to level-up your Enchanting (but there are better things to do with Cristallo del Vuoto)

B) because you're desperate to match the colored-gem-count requirements for a particular meta gem (and these do count as 1 each of red / yellow / blue). But here again there are better alternatives, such as:

I hope this saves someone the trouble of crafting (or worse, buying) an item that no longer provides stats/defense benefits.

It is annoying that Blizz still has a 48 hour cool down on this item, despite the item its self being useless. If you have the patience (lots of it!) this is still a good way to level enchanting as the mats are dirt cheap. Downside is one level every 2 days! if you do choose to make this item just throw it away as you will never sell it!

Believe it or not, these are actually seeing some use in the 70-twink bracket against primarily Frost Mage/Disc Priest comps.

Contrary to the completely inaccurate information posted here, Resistance is still in the game, and still continues to work. The player casted buffs and +resist enchants were removed, but it is easily possible to verify this by anyone simply putting on a piece of gear that grants Resistance still.

This item still grants all the usual effects resistance has always granted, including the chance according to resist level of complete spell negation for binary spells, and there is always a chance for even 100% damage resistance (the roll is...complicated internally to say the least, but the more you have the higher frequency this will occur), no legion bosses have spell hit/penetration (this is why some boss and mythic mob spells do completely obscene amounts of damage (billions) to ensure that if you partially resist it, that it still likely kills you). 4 Magic resist is quite a lot in legion at 110, and as the magic resist numbers were never inflated or altered internally 4 magic resist equates to an occasional.

This is mostly useless except if you like having a "nice" chance to randomly resist a powerful encounter ability (remember chaos spells and holy damage cannot resisted, though there is some assumption that "resist all" is the only source that DOES provide resistance to these schools, as the mobs that can cast these spells only do so on insta kill moves it is quite difficult to test whether this works or not)

with a single +4 resist all in your progression raiding socket, you might 100% resist a nonbinary spell maybe once out of 100,000 times, which is great as thats easily within 239 attempts (a normal raiding week), and if you are a dps this is very valuable if you are playing a risky damage increasing play style (shimmer lancing, etc), the weight of this gem considering these situations (a ~0.01% chance to completely resist a spell is quite nice compared to the damage gain from +150-200 of a combat stat (except for humans, dwarves, taurens with crit (+primary stat for the latter two)) if you can somehow get 10 of these gems socketed into your gear you will have a quite high resist chance and you might see a total spell resist once per raid clear (once out of the raid, assuming 1 attempt per boss).... Keep in mind however you could "waste" that resist on a trivial source of spell damage (continuous aoe magic damage for instance fights, which is most of tomb, Blizzard IS aware of these gearing strategies and stacks their raids appropriately, but since this isnt actually a game of averages at all and that ONE time you resist a DEATH spell is very significant value, especially when progressing or not wanting to lose your gold to repairs as much)

The value of 1 of these gems is roughly a ~1-4% reduction in your repair bills over the course of a week of raiding, and 10 of these could be as much as 40% reduction! So we are probably looking at a 200g value per gem, per week added to your income.

All things considered these gems choices should be for people with "pesky" "luck" as the same circumstances that generate lots of "unfortunate" events for you also generate similar numbers of unnoticed "lucky events" (the so called 1% crit chance, in these inviduals cases they would get large strings of repeated crits, then go long periods of time without any).

And once more, there is an internal dice roll TWICE when a spell targets you for it to be resisted, and your likelyhood of completley or partially resisting a BINARY spell in legion is quite high even with 4 resist all.

There is a reason the +400 resist all trinket was nerfed in WoD as many were using it to trivialize instant tank kill mechanics in WoD

Another example of how useless theorycrafting/simming is, as in practice resist is extremely powerful, even though it does "average out" "eventually" "over time" (100,000s of encounters). This items value in a single encounter if you get "lucky" though is absurdly high, and usually means you BEAT the encounter when you never would otherwise until increasing your item level another 10-15 total. (400 resist would allow you to trivialize many encounters equivalent to 150-300 ilvls (yes the paper math looks like 1000-1500 ilvls, but each ilvl over 800 is worth quite a lot more so thats about the adjusted value), so you would have been able to take on the mechanics at key times as if an 800 ilvl tank was ilvl 950-1000 and what not, this would also trivializes the Chromie Bosses).

You should probably have 1 gem in your gear regardless if your other options are only 100 or +150 secondary stat gems, due to the sheer gain, especially at lower ilvls having a "random" chance to completely resist a spell (vs 0% chance).

I tested in a BG didn't seem to have any effect...

Since Patch 8.1.0 it now grants +4 Versatility. Prior to Patch 8.0.1 it gave +4 All Resistances.
